"I haven't had to fight before," Lochlann said, but as soon as the words were out of his mouth he knew it was a lie. He'd gotten jumped and he'd been attacked before. They were well deserved.

instead, he just laughed and said, "But I'm a lover, not a fighter, what can I say."

he shrugged and finally managed to take a bite of his sandwich.

he was thinking that maybe, maybe he should ask Milk about lessons. It might do him good to learn how to fend off the assault of the enigmatic bitch who had been stalking him and torturing him for almost two years.

"What are your lessons like?" he asked.

Milk frowned when Loch said he'd never fought, though it did explain the weak showing he put up during their first meeting. Oh well.

Milk nodded, taking another sandwich bite. She raised her eyebrow, taking a sip of her chocolate milk.

"I tailor my lessons to the needs of my student. Bear's lessons are mostly basic forms and agility training, whereas another of my student focuses on stamina and strength."

The fighter cocked her head to the side slightly, curious.

"Why. Do you want training?"

He swallowed, which was good timing because otherwise he would have choked when she asked him if he wanted training.

Yes, and, well, no.

"I don't know," he said, drawing small circles on the floor with the tip of his shoe.

He hesitated, but it was too late. She already knew what he was.

"I am a good runner, and a strong swimmer," Lochlann said. "I am very fast. But I don't know if I want to learn something that will make it harder for people to hurt me."

"If you would like constructive criticism." She began, taking a long sip of her chocolate Milk. It was mainly coincidence, but timing dictated that Lochlann had taken a swig of his drink before she spoke again.

"You suck at fighting." She deadpanned, as if it was obvious to everyone. "Though you do have some natural talent. You just need to hone it."

She met his gaze, and Lochlann could see the fire behind her eyes. "I can help you hone this, simply give you a base in strength to complement your speed. I can help you hone your reflexes, make you faster."

Milk's voice never left the monotone, but seemingly got more intense as she spoke. "I can train you, Lochlann. You just have to ask."

He realized he didn't know how to explain to her that he was afraid of fighting.

It wasn't that he was afraid of getting hurt--Lochlann had enough scars (and painful relationships) to prove the contrary. It was that he was afraid of hurting someone worse than he already could.

Despite his strong desire to drown and eat woman, Lochlann didn't actually want to hurt anyone. Well, not that he would admit at least.

"I'm good at sucking," Lochlann said. He didn't point out that constructive criticism usually offered something that he could gain from it.

"I don't know..." he said. He enjoyed her enthusiasm, but Lochlann looked reluctant. "I don't...I don't know if I'm the right sort of person to be a fighter. I don't know how I'd be able to pay you, either. Rent is a little high on right now."

Lochlann could think of a few ways he'd like to pay her, though.

Milk held up a hand. "Payment is not necessary. I enjoy helping others learn to defend themselves." She assuaged his doubts about payment.

Milk took another, final, bite of her sandwich and swallowed, chasing it with another sip of her milk.

"I will not force you to ask for lessons, nor will I force you to go." She paused. "But take this at mind. There is no 'Right' sort of fighter. You either are, or are not." She said cryptically.

Lochlann took another bite of his sandwich. He was a much slower eater than Milk, although that was probably because he was spending more time holding his sandwich and staring than actually eating.

He nodded, listening to what she said, and mumbled a small thanks".

He thought about it for another moment and then asked, "Could I come watch you train someone? Before I ask, or if I was going to ask, I mean?"

Milk nodded, finishing her milk with a long continuous sip. She would have to come back here at some point, the meal was rather tasty and the service was good.

"Indeed. I would not mind if you audited a session of mine. Let me know your schedule, and I will be able to work out when you could best visit." She paused, thinking for a moment. "You are not afraid of the Forbidden Forest, correct?"

Lochlann thought and then said, "Well, I'm not working Tuesday nights. Do you teach anyone then? I could come and watch."

Between his assistantship with the necromancy teacher and his bartending gig, Lochlann did not have as much free time as he used to. Although, truthfully, he'd only ever had free time when it didn't matter.

Lochlann shook his head no in response to the forbidden forest. He'd never understood how people could be afraid of such a lovely place--of course, a witch had treid to eat him, but it might also have to do with the fact that Lochlann was one of the monsters they tended to warn people about.

"I like the forbidden forest," he said. "Do you train there?"

Milk was silent for a bit, looking to the sky. She turned her attention back to Lochlann with a nod.

"Yes, I have a session with Bear on Tuesday. I can move his session to the night hours to allow you to observe." She paused again. "Please bring a steak. Sirloin. Do not cook it." She added.

The fighter nodded. "Indeed. I have a training ground inside the forest."
