Milk knew exactly why she needed to be at the coffee shop at 7 on Saturday. She had met a strange boy on the beach, punched him twice, and then threw him into the ocean. She thought back to her only other companions, Murphy and Bear. Both she had met by something involving punching. It was quite odd how many of her relationships began with punches.

She found the coffee shop indicated, the one with the raccoon on the sign. She stepped inside, the door bumping against a bell to indicate it was being opened. She turned her head to the side as a very familliar voice spoke.

"It's you,"

She nodded, stepping over. She was in the exact same outfit she was in in Lochlanns "Dream". The bandages over her chest, arms and legs. The Vest and shorts. Lack of shoes. She was identical.

"Yes, it is me. You seem surprised. Did we not have an agreed upon date to meet?" She asked in her monotone voice, cocking her head to the side with a confused look.

She looked the same, and at first Lochlann really doubted himself. Had he finally taken enough pills, drank enough booze, that it'd addled him for good this time?

But he saw the barista nod towards her, so Lochlann knew she was real.

"No, we did have an agreed upon time," Lochlann said, motioning to the seat across from him. "I'm just surprised that you're real."

He gave her a guilty smile, but there was relief behind it, too.

She was alive.

"Are you hungry? They make really good sandwiches here."

Milk tilted her head back to its normal position, nodding. Seems the answer satisfied her. The girl took the seat across from him before nodding.

"I am hungry, yes. Do they have onions here as a sandwich topping?" She asked, before looking around. "I have not partaken in the food here."

The seat creaked slightly as she sat down. She looked around at the cafe for a while, before turning back to Lochlann. "Is your heatstroke healed?"

He nodded.

Lochlann pulled a paper menu out from between the napkin holder and the basket that held the creamer and held it out to her.

"They have a really good french dip," he said. "With onions and cheese over beef. Dinner is on me."

Her question about heatstroke made guilt flash across his face, and Lochlann shifted uneasily. "About that...I'm really sorry, for what I did. I get, um, carried away some times."

Milk flipped through the menu for a few seconds before locating the french dip indicated. She nodded, replacing the menu.

"Then that is what I shall order." She said, before Lochlann started speaking once more. She listened before shaking her head. "You have no need to apologize. You were hallucinating and suffering from heatstroke. It is perfectly reasonable to act in the way you did." She droned, punctuating it with a nod.

Of course, Lochlann hadn't been having a heat stroke or hallucinating, but he had been really drunk. Not that it was any better of an excuse but...

He sighed.

"I still bad about it," he confessed. "I would like to get to know you. Tell me something about yourself."

Milk thought for a second, cocking her head at the sigh that Loch let out. She paused for a moment, before nodding and clearing her throat. She set her hands on the table in front of her, like she was a news broadcaster giving a report. She was used to being in interviews and answering this question, so she gave the standard answer.

"My name is Milk. I enjoy onions, fighting, and large dogs. I dislike strawberries and losing. I am also not fond of pigeons. I am 21 years of age."

She spoke curtly and swiftly, her monotone voice carrying into Loch's ears as she sat, her eyes closed. She opened them again when she was finished, looking at Loch with her large chocolate orbs.

"Was that a sufficient answer to your question?"

Her answer sounded well rehearsed and while it gave Lochlann some insight into the woman sitting across from him, it also raised more questions.

"Why don't you like pigeons?" Lochlann asked. He was particularly fond of the little flying rats. They made an excellent snack for a hungry kelpie on a roof, but he'd basically given up eating birds since he met a young woman who controlled them with her powers.

"How long have you been at the academy, Milk?" he asked as well. The waitress came and Lochlann ordered them both their sandwiches, though he gave pause in case she had any requests she wanted to include. He ordered himself a glass of water as well.

He didn't ask her about her unusual name; the thought never crossed his mind. Human names were interesting to him but he never thought much about them.

Milk ordered a glass of chocolate milk. She was not aware of the irony. Once the waitress had left, she turned her attention back to Lochlann, giving him her rapt attention again.

"They are both devious and filthy. The birds of the damned. They have no respect for our monuments." She said with no trace of humor in her voice. Her normal monotone didn't really fit in with her hatred of pigeons. She paused for a second, before continuing to answer Loch's question.

"I have been at the academy for One Year, Six Months, Two Weeks, Four Days, Nineteen Hours, Twelve Minutes, and Seventeen seconds as of right this second." She answered, after thinking for a few seconds.
