"Eh? 'Hunger' in my eyes?" Mizuko's eyes shot back up to Wesker's. A struck expression twisted her face, tinged with the embarrassment she had already been showing. But she tried to push that expression away by laughing it off and letting herself take everything just as her upperclassman's playfulness. "You're imagining it, Senpai. And I hope you're not disappointed but no, you're not in my dreams."

He has been in her dreams though. A few times. But that's because she always dreams of her memories."Iced lemonade for my drink," she added to her order, before regarding Wesker once again. She could remember the last time they had dinner like this; it was on that cruise ship. And she could remember that Wesker ordered blood pudding then. She thought it was normal, but as he ordered for blood wine tonight, she began to consider that maybe Wesker really feeds on blood and doesn't take some merely for food preference.

Her eyes then turned to the menus now set aside, then glanced up at the waitress that was taking their orders. And then she turned to him again. "Blood wine... Senpai, I'm starting to suspect that you're a vampire," she kidded. He was making her curious, so she took note of trying to check on a few things in the future.

Although that thought almost jumped out of her head immediately as Wesker began playing with words again. She choked on her own breath and coughed a little. "No, not really," was her answer. "That would mean your day hasn't been very good."

"Well, I've caught you on multiple occasions staring at me in this way, most notably over a menu. If it's not hunger, then what would you say it is, Mizuko?" Wesker chuckled a little. Mizuko looked so cute when she was embarrassed, and it was just so much fun to watch her squirm.

Wesker's smile widened when she accused him of being a vampire, showing off his incisors that extended just a little bit too far. "Is that so? Perhaps you should be careful then, or I might steal some of your blood." His tongue ran over his lips, half as part of the tease, half because it had actually been an exceedingly long time since he had tasted human blood.

All that really served was to bring up images from his past. People falling, screams, an unpleasant naturalness to it all. But Wesker quickly brushed those thoughts aside and returned to the conversation at hand. "Really? Would it mean that? Shouldn't you be going a tad farther if you're going to insist on being self-deprecating?"

The warm and pink refused to leave, but Mizuko cleared her throat and shrugged off Wesker's teasing anyway. Automatically, her mind moved on to imagining Wesker for her drinking blood from another ma—

But she shook her head realizing it wasn't going to be any help.

"'Self... depricating'?" she asked then, confused. She didn't seem to know the word, and the deep creases between her eyebrows showed how hard she was trying to make sense of it. "Gomen-nasai... I don't know what that means."

"Self-deprecating" He swapped to using a close to equivalent term in Japanese. "Honestly, Mizuko, isn't it your birthday? Shouldn't you be enjoying yourself rather then putting yourself down so much?"

Once the waiter returned with the drinks, Wesker began swirling the crimson liquid around in his glass as he considered Mizuko. "To answer your question..." It had been more of a statement, but he carried on regardless. "My day has improved. I would not have accepted the invitation had I thought it would be detrimental to my mood."

He flashed teeth at her again, taking a sip of the iron-laden drink. "Such events have not ended well in the past, I would have hated to cause a scene on your birthday."

"Oh." Mizuko took her drink as well, immediately taking a sip. She set the glass down afterwards, her shoulders slightly shaking as she chuckled sheepishly at Wesker. "I didn't mean to sound like that, I guess that's what my mom meant when she said I'm a... pessimist."

She shrugged.

"Oh well, that's good. When I was in Japan, I honestly almost never went outside to hang out with friends. My connection with them stays mostly within school so... hmm... I guess I'm just not used to going out. I'm not trying to be... 'self depricating' though!" she grinned.

Wesker shrugged a little, reclining in his chair a little and examining the wine in his glass against the light. "There is a place for pessimism, however, it would most likely do you well to recognize when to counter those kinds of thoughts."

He set the drink back down on the table, letting his eyes return to Mizuko. "Anyway... Tell me how you came to have an electronic nervous system."

Mizuko probably did not fully understand what Wesker said, considering she just kept smiling and made a small shrug. Probably.

"Oh," Perfect topic, she thought, giggling. "I didn't always know about it, but apparently I wasn't born naturally. Made in the lab... and those scientists back in Japan replaced my nervous system and... placed who-knows-what inside me while I was still a few months old fetus. In a tube."

She chuckled, reaching for her glass if drink once more. She didn't drink; she only played with the droplets of water forming around the cold tall glass, staring at them blankly.

"I've only known for a few months. Just before my mother sent me here to hide me from those people. If they didn't come," she paused, shrugged again, "I would never have found out about this. She never did explain why I can do those things I do, like read minds and such. I've always thought I was just... gifted."

Her eyes traveled back to Wesker's. With that gentle smile oh her face, it seemed like she was absolutely indifferent about the matter, but really, she's only trying. "I'm glad I get to have birthdays."

She absentmindedly stroked the glass downward with a finger, before bringing it close to her lips once more, to sate her parched mouth.

"Senpai, please tell me a story too. What brought you here in the island?"

Wesker listened intently to the tale of Mizuko's past. The immediate thought he had was that she was probably meant to be a machine for intelligence gathering. He very ironic, or perhaps fortunate, seeing as she'd ended up in his hands, so to speak. He of course didn't vocalize any of this. If Mizuko was curious she'd have to probe his mind.

"You just seem to become more and more interesting the more I learn about you, Mizuko. It has indeed been a fascinating experience." Wesker let his eyes drift to his own glass as she inquired about his past. His mask hardened ever so slightly as he watched the liquid swirl around the chalice. His face was back to it's false cheerfulness before long though.

"All the Straundlin's attend Starlight. Once our abilities manifest, or sometime mid-high school, we are sent off to the islands to finish our education here among the finest of instructors. The heads of the family return to the wide world to begin organizing and orchestrating the many endeavors, and the lessors are free to align themselves among the islands residents or travel as they wish."

Soon after Wesker had finish weaving his lie, the food arrived. He took the opportunity to direct the conversation away from himself once more, making idle chit-chat as they ate.

They didn't stay in that restaurant for too long. Mizuko has been, in a sense, scarred by the embarrassment she felt back in the cruise ship where her instant reaction ended up attracting too many pairs of eyes all around her.

While this restaurant wasn't very crowded, she still didn't want to stay too long.

So after dinner, they began to walk around town, to get their body moving while digesting their food. Mizuko was swaying her hands on her sides, almost frolicking aside from the fact that she wasn't hopping.

She didn't seem to be heading anywhere specific, until she stopped the funny walk and began to do it properly. There was a shop nearby with dvd displays, which caught her attention, and pulled her to it. She almost forgot she was with Wesker, as she entered the shop without even checking if the male was following. There were songs and movies and games, and in a corner, there were also books and magazines. Her eyes were wide as they scanned the place, and her lips were curved to a wide grin.

"Senpai, loo-- AH!" She gasped, turning around to look for Wesker. She did forget about him, and that caused a brief panic.

Wesker followed Mizuko silently, quietly observing the small girl as she walked down the street. He was more then content to travel in silence. Mizuko seemed to be enjoying herself, anthe night was rather peaceful. It was always a pleasent experience when he was able to find the silence within the cacophony of the city.

He of course followed Mizuko when she darted off towerds the siren's song of electronics. He was directly behind her when she flew around in her panic, flashing her his grin. "Are you enjoying yourself, Mizuko? You seem to be much higher spirits."
