Fourteenth of October, present year, the first thing that greeted Mizuko as the girl got up from bed and decided to go out for breakfast was the sound of knocking on her room's door even before she could even get ready for the day. Apparently, there was a package for her— well, two.

She then later on found out the contents of the simple yet adorable packages. One contained a pair of sunglasses, and one contained a radio of some sort. There was a happy birthday greeting but no name for who the sender was. But she didn't need one to know.

She secured the items in her drawers before taking her phone to send a text message to a certain someone. Specifically, to Wesker, the only person right now that was likely to even give her sunglasses. A wide smile had already forced itself on her lips, especially as she finished her message and pressed send.

"I received your gifts, Senpai! I love them both! Thank you very much~ By the way, do you want to go to dinner with me tonight? Of course it would be my treat! I don't want to spend this day alone. I know a good place downtown just in case, so will you be able to come?" it said.

Mizuko then resumed with her daily routine, unable to hold excitement for tonight even if ever he agrees.
@"Nightstripe" I'm sorry I honestly forgot about this

Wesker was just going about normal day things. Eating breakfast, getting ready for class, eavesdropping on interesting conversations, etc. He retrieved his phone when it vibrated and looked over the message. "Nonsense. I will of course handle the expenses for such an event. You are most welcome for the gifts. Where would you like to meet? How formal will this be?"

Mizuko received the message while she was walking outside. She noted the insistent tone of his message, and to this, she found herself frowning, well, pouting a little. "But it's my birthday! That makes me the host. If you're okay with it, we can meet by the gate and just take a taxi to the restaurant? It's not a very fancy one, but they have good food and a wide variety in their menu. The usual you would fit right in if you're wondering about that kind of formality~ How does 6:45pm sound?" she sent back.

...

So on that night, Mizuko made sure to be punctual. She was already there a few minutes before their meeting time. Wearing a plain lavender knee-length and high-waisted dress, a lose knitted thigh-length black cardigan over it, and a black pair of flat shoes with straps around her ankles. She only carried a black shoulder bag, in which its edges were smooth and slightly rounded, making it look like something in between a cylinder and a trapezoid.

And then she glanced at her phone in her hand, before looking around.
@"Nightstripe" It's cool~

"It being your date of birth does not require you to be the host. However, it does give your will more weight, so if you insist then I can't object. 6:35 is fine, I'll see you tonight then."

Wesker arrived perfectly on time, dressed in the semi-formal manner he usually preferred when out of uniform. A black jacket over a white shirt, black slacks and shoes, and of course his gloves.

He approached his companion, looking her over slightly as he did. "That outfit is quite lovely, Mizuko." He was slightly impressed, since usually he only got to see her in her uniform, or in her bikini outfit when they were on the trip.

Mizuko saw when Wesker finally arrived, and she watched him as he walked closer, and eventually stopped just a step away. "Good evening, Senpai!" she greeted shyly, but just as cheerfully as always, her smile being the same energetic one she always had around him.

Her cheeks warmed up from her upperclassman's compliment, but she's been so used to it by now that it already seemed like a natural reaction. It wasn't like she made an effort to look adorable but... if Wesker meant what he said, then she was happy she turned out to look like so.

"Thank you. This cardigan is so comfy, and it's cold out, so I thought it would be nice to wear it tonight," she said, raising a sleeve briefly as if to show it. "And you look really good, Senpai. Well, as always." She chuckled.

"I already called for a taxi a while ago, it'll be here in a few minutes."

Just like what she said, the taxi arrived a couple of minutes later. It would take them downtown to the restaurant, which was a two-story building with warm lights and wide ceiling-to-floor windows. They'd see that the place currently didn't have too many guests, the tables were mostly round and draped with white tablecloth, and the walls were decorated with landscape paintings. Mizuko let herself stare for a moment once they got there, and then turned to Wesker, wondering what his opinion was. "I hope this place is okay?"

Wesker chuckled a little bit. "Well yes of course, such clothing is suitable for the weather. If it weren't I would have asked if you were cold." He more or less silently accepted her compliment, his smile widening slightly. He nodded a couple times When she mentioned the taxi. "You are quite well prepared, as expected from my kohai."

Wesker was silent for the drive over, but his eyes were as observant as ever. there would be more then one occasion where Mizuko would catch Wesker staring at her if she was being half as attentive as he was. He glanced over the restaurant once the arrived, nodding appreciatively, and then glanced at Mizuko when she addressed him. "It is where you wanted to go, is it not? My thoughts on the establishment not so relevant. Though, didn't you say it wasn't a formal restaurant, Mizuko?"

"I just said it's not very fancy," Mizuko shrugged. "It's not a casual place either." She grinned sheepishly to Wesker's direction, wondering if he expected a different kind of atmosphere around the restaurant. That certainly didn't matter anymore though. They were here and they were going to get some good food and that's what mattered.

So Mizuko led the way in, waving at her upperclassman to follow. "Senpai, let's get inside!"

The air inside was much warmer, and was filled with soft music suited for dinner. Not jazz, but still appropriate. A waitress welcomed them and Mizuko immediately asked for a table for two. They were led to such a table near the window, given the menus etc. etc.

Mizuko's menu was sprawled over the table, and she looked at the items without holding onto it, her hands kept on her lap. That wasn't for long, because after a few moments, she began stealing glances from Wesker again. She really did think he looked great, he always did.

Wesker shrugged as well, letting his gaze drift around the restaurant. "Well, I didn't expect it to be a fast food place. This will do fine." He hardly had time to glance back at her before she was darting ahead of him. He shook his head a little, had she been just a little more patient he might have decided to offer his arm or some equally gentlemanly gesture.

He followed after Mizuko, still appreciating the atmosphere of the room as he went along. When the waitress greeted them, he opened his mouth to speak, only to have Mizuko once again wrest control from him. A simple eyebrow raise was all the reaction that was shown. Wesker wasn't used to being out of control of the situation.

"No reservation? I suppose your earlier observation was correct then. Not too high class of a place." Idle observations to fill the time for the walk to the table. Wesker casually held his menu, looking over the items on the paper and idly taking note of his underclassmen. "I find it hard to believe I would be on this menu either, Mizuko."

"—!" The girl almost jumped in her seat. Stealing glances have become some kind of habit of hers, which wasn't all that good, honestly. She tried to reach calmly, but the hint of embarrassment tainted her cheeks pink. "Gomen, Senpai. Force of habit," she said, before finally grabbing the menu and holding it up to block her face. And I really like the way you dress, she almost added. Fortunately, it didn't escape her.

That didn't hold up for long. It wouldn't take her forever to choose what to get, and as she decided, she brought the menu down to see if Wesker's decided for his food as well. "I'm getting beef ribs and fried rice. What about you?"

She laid her menu on the table and leaned forward, resting her forearms on it as well. "By the way I haven't gotten to ask. How was your day, Senpai?" she asked, smiling.

Wesker's smile became slightly more devilish for a moment before reverting back to Mizuko's preferred pattern. His eye didn't even leave the menu. "You make a habit of shooting glances at people with such hunger in your eyes? Not the best habit to let yourself fall into. Someone might act upon it. Do you allow me to wander through your dream as well?"

It was just so much fun teasing her. Though... hmmm... Wesker caught himself genuinely curious about her reactions. Odd. None of this showed on his face of course, he was his regular mask on the outside even while he pondered internally. "I do believe I'll have the steak, rare, with the blood wine." Only on Manta Carlos was something described as 'blood wine' available.

He carefully set his menu aside as well, returning his eyes to Mizuko. "Odd question. Should I not be the one asking you." He paused in his speech, the corners of his mouth flickering up again for a moment. "Would you like it if I said 'better now that I'm with you'?"
