RE: im going to fight the ENTIRE OCEAN [open]

Lei snorted and looked at the snot and sand-covered handkerchief.

"What is this, a meet cute?" He laughed. "Shit, if this was a romcom, I'd have to be the woman. I should get a manlier hairstyle." Despite the derision, his tone was amicable, not insulting. He crumpled the handkerchief into a ball and tucked it in his backpack's pocket so he doesn't just leave it there.

"Lei. No fucking surprise there. I don't go out much and I usually train at the pool, but the d-bag swim team took over and everyone treats their practices like strip shows because they've got these, like —" Lei lifted a hand and hovered it over his own pathetic 2-pack abs, "— 6-pack abs so tight they could knock up women by standing two feet near them. I can't compete with that shit."

Deith started to laugh soon enough. It wasn't even a graceful laugh; he really did find it funny, and so he had no intention of holding back. Fortunately, it wasn't as bad as being capable of causing cramps in his own abs. It only went as far as making his eyes water.

"Oh...children these days..." he muttered, still trying to recover from laughing hard. He had to take a few deep breaths, to normalize his breathing. It sounds strange, seeing that he had a body of a nineteen year old. Looks can be deceiving, of course.

"You don't need to compete with them, Lei. Water here is much larger. There's more freedom. And..." he snickered. "No one but me gets to see you, um, do stuff."

"Shut up, you're like twenty!" Lei said, laughing along with Deith and throwing sand at his general direction. It didn't even come close to coming in contact with Deith.

"Excuse me if I'm not jumping from joy at the thought of you watching me make an ass of myself everyday." Except... he kind of liked the idea. He didn't have a lot of friends and Deith wasn't a complete waste of oxygen. "I can't imagine it'll be fun for you, I mean... I kind of suck? And the ocean likes rubbing it in that it's way better at controlling waves than I am."

He sighed. "The ocean is an asshole."

"Pools don't push you to your butt, at least," Deith grinned. He fumbled with his necklace, with the crystal hanging in the center, closing his lips and humming. Keeping his eyes on Lei, he gave the male a brief head-to-toe scan. "Are you going back to the water? I honestly think starting with a tub could be better. Baby steps, as a friend of mine reminds me all the time." And then stared in the distance. "Just asking, how much do you know about your element?"

Despite being here for two years, Lei was still largely unfamiliar with the modern world at large. He knew what he learned at school and stayed at the dormitory where they only had showers, so 'tub' was one of those words he had never heard before. "What's a... What's a tub?"

"I know everything there is to know. My mentor Wei gave me the scrolls they had regarding my power — the gift of the Mountain God — and I studied everything, from the forms to the explanations to even some of the trivia and I know exactly what my problem is." He sat up. "I can't channel the energy properly. I don't know why, but water feels to slippery, and it escapes when I try to demand it reform its shape for me."

Deith was unsurprisingly surprised hearing Lei's response about the tub. Even as the young man continued speaking, Deith stated at him, the shock obvious in the way his eyes widened and his brows furrowed. "Okay... But... You really don't know what a tub is?"

He sighed and scratched the back of his head. Didn't think someone would need an explanation for that. He bit his lower lip while trying to think of a good way to explain what a tub is, and afterwards smiled." It's a... uh, it's a thing in a bathroom that's like a giant basin you can fill with water. And then you get in and take a bath." He wasn't sure he was doing a good job at this. "I'm assuming... you don't have one to use."

"We have those in the village when we're not bathing in the nearby river. I didn't think you guys even have those in the city. I thought everyone here just showered!" He huffed, blushing a bit from embarrassment. He didn't like feeling uninformed. "That would be really helpful, but where am I even supposed to find a big wooden 'tub', as you say, here in the city?"

"In someone's bathroom, where else?" Deith gave a soft laugh, but managed to stop quickly. He found Lei to be adorable, being all red like he was at the moment, and he really couldn't blame him. "Well I mean... I know someone whose house is just a few blocks away. Are you going for it though? No more fighting the ocean?"

He stood up, patting off the sand particles that got on his jeans. Just in case Lei decided to go with the tub.

"Really? Because our dorm bathrooms don't have tubs. We have showers."

That offer sounded pretty sketchy. Lei crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, eyeing Deith suspiciously. "Whose tub? It better be yours because I'm not really up to breaking and entering people's homes."

"You're willing to go to my house?" Deith teased. Because if it were him, he wasn't going to say yes. At all. He still held his hand out to help Lei stand, however, despite not being able to get rid of his grin, which could probably piss the male off. "My house is pretty far from here. It's near the woods, so no, we can go somewhere else, where you don't have to worry about your safety."
