Hiatus
Varvara looked at the boy with a serious expression. She did not know what those feelings felt like, she couldn't begin to comprehend. But she wondered how she would feel if she knew that she had had a life before...this. A life where she had had friends, family, maybe even one of those things they called boyfriend. Varvara sighs, giving Jacky one more pat and then turns to the boy.
"I am Varvara, yes, and you are a boy I don't know. A boy I feel great sorrow for now, a boy trapped in a 'messed up world', as he says it. A boy I know has a family, friends, brother, people he has met. A boy I now envy."
Varvara smiled and finally sat down opposite of the boy, with calm smile on her face.
"I am Varvara, I come from somewhere I don't know, or maybe nowhere. I will not compare my experiences, or pity myself, and I know you are not doing so either. You are hurting, and she knows that."
Varvara waved towards Jacky.
"She cares for you, just as your family cared for you, your friends cared for you. Now, will you let me care for you, nameless boy? At least a little. And if you say no..."
Varvara pushed herself up and grinned.
"I won't care. I shall care for you now, you can't avoid it. In your face, or so they say."
Varvara laughed and looked excited. She loved caring about things, it made the cared things look beautiful.

Sam froze up. He then dryly laughed. “Yeah. Care for me before I’m taken off to who knows what time period again. Honestly, I envy you. I would kill to not remember anything. To just wake up, not knowing of what came before. To just live in blissful ignorance...”
He sighed before the angry look returned. He looked at Jacky. “I don’t sntirely know why or how but she’s the reason this has happened.” The bitter sound had returned to his voice.

Hiatus
Varvara looked at the boy sadly. He was truly mad, and that probably stemmed from frustration, confusion and sadness. Varvara was not going to compare herself to him, though they were quite similar in opposite ways. Varvata stroked Jacky a bit and smiled.
"Yes, I will care about you. Good that we are on the same page, or so they say. I love these things words do, making one thing about other."
Varvara grabbed her own book and opened it, pointing at a word. It was the word 'friend',
"Can you read this?"

Sam looked at it, peered right into it for a few solid seconds before he rolled his eyes. "Of course. It says 'friend'." However, he pronounced 'friend' as 'fry-end'. Well done Sam.
He then frowned as he looked closer. "No... wait."
He proceeded to say several different pronunciations including, but not limited to, 'free-end' and 'freend'.
Eventually he got the one he was looking for. "...friend?" He said carefully and slowly. He hadn't registered that he had said friend, yet.

Hiatus
Varvara was listening seriously as the boy tried to read the word. Varvara felt a connection besides the similarities with their pasts. The boy was as bad at reading than her. Well, maybe a little better. Varvara smiled at Jacky from behind the book as the boy was finally able to pronounce the word right.
"Is it like that? I recconed it was pronounced 'my'"
Varvara grinned from over the book at the boy. She wondered if the boy had realized what the word was already.
"As in 'my friend'"
Varvara smiled at the boy gently and turned the page. There was a new word. Tomorrow.
"This is a serious question, I assure you. I truly do not know how to pronounce this letter monster. Might you know?"
Varvara put the book between them on the table.

Sam sighed as he looked at it. “Two... more... row?” That... wasn’t a bad attempt actually.
”Tow... moe... row?” Ok not as good.
”I’m... not entirely sure...” He didn’t sound as aggressive as he used to be.

Varvara leaned over the book and looked at the word closely herself. It was truly tricky.
"Yes, this is quite challenging indeed. Let's see..."
Varvara traced her finger over the letters, trying to form the word in her mind.
"To...tom...tomo...rowo...no."
Varvara scoffs in frustration and leans her head even closer to the book, making weird faces.
"To...mor...r.r...ow. To-mor-row."
Varvara pronounces it and looks over at the boy.
"How did I do? Was I close?"

“Tomorrow?” He said. He knew the words, just doesn’t understand them on paper. He’s practically like a child who never learnt how to read. “Right... of course it’s tomorrow.”
He slowly pointed at a word in his own book. ‘Sunshine’.

Varvara frowned and looked at the word the boy pointed. Then slowly smiled because she knew this one. She'd gone through extra trouble to learn as many weather words as possible.
"Sun-shine"
Varvara said with clear pronunciaton and pointed at Sam.
"How did you know, my new friend, that tomorrow was going to be a sunny day? I did not share this knowledge with anyone."
Varvara leaned back and clapped a little.
"Now it's our secret."

Sam remained silent for a few moments. “...It’s Sam, by the way. My name is Sam.” He sounded a bit quiet as he spoke.
To him, she seemed strange. But he wouldn’t blame her if he seemed strange to her. He released a sigh.
Jacky climbed over Sam’s head and lands on the table in front. She moved off the book she landed on and sniffed around curiously.
