Somehow, she didn't know why, Varvara simply knew how to write her name. For the first time since she started learning reading and writing she had no trouble forming the word in her mind. Although it was quite scary that the voice that said the word in her mind wasn't hers. It was older, wiser, and painfully familiar.
Varvara finished fast and her handwriting was clean and clear. She grinned and showed it to Sam.
"I myself am quite surprised that I was able to succeed so well."
Varvara jolted when Jacky sneezed again and she patted her head emphatetically.
"Yes, it is quite dusty here. Must not be good for your nose. Now, Sam, it is your turn. Show me how you write your name."

Sam took the pencil from Varvara and pulled the paper. He held the pencil to the paper for a while, a frown formed on his face. He tapped the pencil against his face as formed the letters in his mind.
He began with writing 'Sam'. That made sense. His writing had this messiness to it, but it was readable. Now was the part that would be difficult. Sam knows his name is 'Samuel'. But... that's a bit tough to remember how it's spelt. His face suddenly looked like a light bulb had just lit up as he wrote the rest of his name.
"That's it, I'm pretty sure." He had this peculiar mix in his voice of confidence and uncertainty.

Varvara observed Sam's name, and again she just somehow knew it was right. The old, wise voice in her mind told her so. Varvara frowned and touched her head slightly, shaking it a bit. The voice vanished.
"Yes, I do think it is written right, although you shouldn't take my word for it."
Varvara laughed a bit and looked at Jacky. Her eye were getting a little teary and Varvara stroked her a bit.
"I wonder if the dust in here is irritating her. Maybe she should get some air."

Jacky rubbed her nose with her front paws before she looked at Varvara. The look she gave was kind of a 'No, I'm alright' kind of look, which is strange to say.
Sam looked at Jacky before he gave a nod. "Yeah, probably. I should probably go back to my dorm anyway. I only came here cause it was starting to get a bit loud over there." He laughed. He placed the pencil on the table, doing so in a way so it wouldn't make a lot of noise. He stood up, pushing the chair back under the table once doing so.
"It's been pretty fun, Varvara. Look, I'm sorry if I was a bit of an ass at first. Just... well, it's hard to want to talk to people with the constant fear that I have." He offered a smile as he adjusted his hoodie a bit.

Varvara laughed with Sam and looked at him as he stood up. It was quite nice to see and hear him laugh.
"I quite understand the noise, since I live at the dorms as well.*
Varvara grinned and gave Jacky's ears one last rub. She didn't seem to want to go but it was for her own good.
Varvara was so glad when Sam told her he had had fun, and he apologized.
"I completely understand, you do not need to worry. Now I know you, and now I like you. That is what matters."
Varvara smiled.

Sam couldn't help but smile again. He doesn't really know how long it's been since he felt calm enough that he could just feel this happy.
Jacky moved closer to Sam, now knowing that they were gonna be leaving. Sam picked her up, knowing that even if he had just left, she'd find her way to him somehow. Pretty much as soon as she was in his arms, she was able to climb up him, over his shoulder and into his hood. It kind of made Sam look like he had small horns.
"Well, at least I'm not a complete loner then." He stuck his hands in his pockets, straightening up instead of being slouched over. "Until next time, Varvara. Who knows, maybe I'll see you around at school." He waved at her then walked out of the library.
Jacky had adjusted so she watched behind Sam while he walked away. Her head tilted as Sam walked further away from Varvara. It seemed like the tilt was her own version of a wave.

"Yes, I shall see you."
Varvara waved after him as Sam left and she watched Jacky tilt her head as a goodbye. Varvara did a small extra wave for her. And then she was alone again.
Varvara slowly lowered her hand and set it on the pen that was left on the table. She tried writing more words, with great dificulty, but the voice didn't appear again.
