Varvara wanted to laugh out loud and spin wildly around the library when the boy, Sam, told her his name. But she stopped herself and was satisfied with one twirl and a huge grin. Then Varvara sat back down and smiled at Sam. What a wonderful name.
"Hello Sam. I shall remember your name forevermore."
Varvara watched Jacky climb out of Sam's hood and onto the table between them. She stroked her and for a minute awed at her horns.
"What a beautiful creature. And now she is a part of our secret."
Varvara grins at Sam and watches Jacky.
"I wonder how the word jackalope is written..."
