I really just don't want to be here.

"I'm good," Sabriel told her. "How are you? And what happened?"

Meanwhile, Nicolas had finally found a jewelry store. He smiled and walked inside, looking at the rings. Now all he had to do was pick out which one would fit Mery the best, buy it, and plan on how he was going to propose.

Mery smiled. "I'm fine. I just decided to come in here and take a nap, that's all." She said jokingly, wonering if Sabriel would believe her. He seemed kind of gullible.

Well, Mery had been right, Sabriel was the gullible kind — for now, at least, until he had another mood swing. That was doubtful, though, seeing as how he had taken his medicine. "Ah, I see," he said. "That's good, then."

Nicolas soon found the perfect ring, and pain the woman that had been working there. She had been surprised he had enough money to not have to write out a check, but he didn't care. He gently put the black box in his coat pocket and walked out of the store, beginning to walk back toward the school. Well, now all he had to do was figure out how and when he was going to propose.

Mery laughed. "Yeah, it is." She said. She couldn't quite believe that he believed her.

"So..." Sabriel began, trying to change the subject. "Did Nikki tell you where he was going?" he asked. He doubted his older brother had, or had even lied to her, but he just wanted to make sure.

A few minutes later, Nicolas reentered the school building. He didn't go to the hospital wing just yet, though, mostly because he hadn't come up with what to do. He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous feeling in his stomach, wishing that he could just think of something. He couldn't, and wouldn't, propose to her in the hospital wing... that was just completely out of the question.

Mery shook her head and sighed dramatically. "No. He just said he was going to get a surprise for me." She paused for a second. "Do YOU know where he's going?" She asked.

"Do YOU know where he's going?"

"No!" Sabriel said, perhaps a little bit too quickly. He cleared his throat, then shook his head, trying to be more calm. "Nope. He didn't say anything to me." He was such a horrible liar... oh, he hoped Nicolas would be back soon.

Beginning to get the feeling that his little brother would spill the beans, Nicolas started walking toward the hospital wing. His brother often said the wrong thing, and was a horrible liar, so hopefully the older male would get there in time.

Mery rolled her eyes. He was as bad at lying, as bad as Nikki. "Right. Me thinks the gentleman doth protest too much." She replied.

Sabriel blinked. "Huh?" he asked, tilting his head to the side in confusion. He hadn't understood what she had just said.

At this point, Nicolas walked back into the hospital wing. "I'm back," he said, walking over toward where Mery was. "Although, you won't get your surprise just yet." He smirked, knowing he was being a bit cruel, but oh, well. A hospital really wasn't the best place to propose...

Mery laughed. "You said that you didn't know too quickly for me to believe you." She translated, though she wasn't sure whether or not he understood that.
"Although, you won't get your surprise just yet."
Mery sighed dramatically. "Ah! You are so mean!" She said.
