For Freyja, school was boring. Each day she couldn't wait for her final class to end so she could fly back home and get back to useful things. School was useful, she supposed. It was what would get her through Pre-med and Magic Studies. Breaks from classrooms were the problem. Why? Because they were lonely periods of wasted time. Freyja didn't need people, social standing or love for anyone. That was all pointless. Why would somebody spend all their time trying to maintain a relationship with someone when they could work on more important things. Like... Well, important things.

So like usual at lunch, she grabbed a quick snack from the cafeteria before leaving to sit outside on a bench all alone. She looked almost like a goth with her unhappy expression, straight raven hair and completely black attire. The only thing missing was some nice thick eyeliner. She didn't care what other people thought. Other people were stupid. Biting into her sandwich she watched people hurry past her. The weather was calm and cool, the winter snow having melted away. Nobody gave a damn about her. Nobody so much as looked twice at the loner on the bench. As if she cared about that though.

But the thing was, she sort of did. In the deep, dark depths of her heart, she felt alone. I didn't matter at all, but yeah, she was alone. She watched the girls everyday wearing short cheerleading skirts and giggling in groups, and the guys fist bumping and making fun of one another. Gods, even the nerds had books to keep them company. She had herself and only herself. But that should be company enough for a warrior.

Remi couldn't wait to get home, get comfy on her bed, and blast her music loudly enough to drown out the thoughts of the day. Well, maybe not that loudly. Béatrice always got angry about how loud her music was, even when she had her headphones on, and Arjean often cried and screamed if it started hurting their ears. This did make Remi wonder though. I should have brought my headphones today. All I have is my phone. With a sigh she looked down at her phone, scrolling through her never-ending list of songs on Spotify to find the perfect song for how she felt at the moment. She wasn't going to be finding it anytime soon.

As she made her way to the cafeteria to pick up a quick meal she noticed a human-looking girl about her age sitting on a bench alone. Though for all she knew she was probably a billion-years-old and from space. She looked pretty edgy, all dressed in black, looking like she didn't care for anybody around her. That was a funny thought for Remi to be thinking about others. She herself looked pretty edgy, aside from how she was currently wearing a pink and purple dress with white polka dots on them. She even had a cute white headband that pulled back her afro. That wasn't what gave her the edgy look though, it was her face that made her face: she looked unemotional and constantly bored, as if she also didn't care for anybody around her.

Maybe this was Remi's chance to make a friend of a similar life. It must be so lonely eating alone, and Remi knew exactly how it felt to be like that, all because of how you looked. This was her chance to try and break out of her bubble and make more friends. She's done it before, rarely, so why not again?

She approached the girl, yet didn't change her expression at all to look more friendly. "Hey there. I think I've seen you around before, but I don't think we've actually ever spoken?" Even her voice seemed apathetic, with just enough force to sound a little bit genuine. "I'm Oluremi Afolabi-Soie, nice to meet you." Then she sat down next to the girl.

Freyja was just sitting there, minding her own business and maybe thinking a little bit about being lonely and guess what she is greeted with. A person. Well, if it was a person it was a pretty strange-looking one. In her opinion, she looked more like a winged disco...unicorn in a polka dot dress. She just looked... Odd. Completely stood out from the crowd in the same way that Freyja effectively blended with it. She didn't look all that bad, really, just different. Not that looking good mattered.

So so why did she think to approach Freyja? It wasn't as if she was the most approachable person at the school- in fact, she wouldn't have benergy all hat surprised if she was the least.

The next strange thing to happen was the monotone voice. Freyja was greeted on the regular by cheery classmates trying to make more friends or increase their popularity. None of them had much confidence in themselves, and when Freyja told them to go away they usually scrambled off. This girl was different. She introduced herself and took a seat before being invited. And let's face it, Freyja wasn't planning on inviting her. But now she was there.

"Huh. What makes you think you can sit there?" She was there now and Freyja wasn't about to kick her off, but she wanted to see how similar the disco unicorn who was apparently known as Oluremi coped with questions like that.

"Oh yeah, I'm Freyja Mortii. I think I've seen you round too. You're kinda hard to miss I guess." With the afro, expressive clothes and horns, Oluremi was almost impossible to miss actually. She would've said nice to meet you back, but she couldn't care less that the two of them were meeting.

Already the girl came off harsh. "Well, I can sit here cause it's a public space, duh. Is your name written on this bench?" She then mimicked looking around for her name, only to see nothing but what may or may not be dried up gum. When she rose back up she looked back at the girl and said, "Don't think so. Though by the way, you can call be Remi. That's my common nickname." There was also Unicorn, but that didn't need to be mentioned.

When the girl told her name, which was apparently Freyja Mortii, Remi thought for a moment, swearing she heard that last name before. Mortii? Wasn't that a teacher here? "Oh, are you related to one of the teachers here?" Remi was genuinely surprised, but it didn't come across that apparent in her tone of voice.

Freyja crossed her arms and turned sideways to look at the girl on the bench. Did she seriously think messing with her was a good idea? It sure wasn't. She was probably much more powerful then her anyway, she thought. Raising one eyebrow, she said in an unfriendly, matter-of-fact voice, "Do you really want to mess with new? Actually, why are you even talking to me? Don't I look unapproachable to you?" Either the girl was very extroverted, very stupid or very brave to sit next to her. It was no easy task to have even a totally civil conversation with her without her becoming annoyed or leaving.

"You might as well stay here now." she said, half-heartedly pretending to be frustrated. It wasn't as if the girl would have any friends to go to, would she? But she was only making up excuses for the real reason she didn't want her to leave. Aside from her family, Oluremi had made the most effort to get to know her already. So what difference did a single lunch make?

Remi was her nickname, so she said. Freyja planned to call her that to her face, of course, but she would always be Disco Unicorn in her mind. So out of basic politeness, she acknowledged the nickname with a nod.

Gods, did Remi ever show any interest in things? Even Freyja pretended to be more involved in a conversation than asking a question in a complete monotone. To be fair, it was quite the boring question though. She just nodded. "Yeah, the power class one. Professor Mortii. You got a problem with that?" She was strangely defensive when it came to her family. They were really the only people she had in her life, and although affection was rare, she did love them. Not that she'd ever say that out loud.

"Mess with you?" Remi asked. "I don't know how I'm messing with you, though I guess I am being pretty sarcastic. It runs in the family." She shrugged, not really understanding Frejya's issue. "I'm talking to you 'cause you were looking all alone and grumpy. Sounds pretty sucky to me."

On the outside, Remi tried her hardest to seem cool and collected, like Freyja's words rolled right off of her and her sort-of-rude attitude meant nothing. On the inside, Remi's heart was beating fast and she felt nervous. Jumping out of her comfort zone so like this felt nerve-wrecking, but exciting. It was better than joining a room full of people, then slowly edging towards the back to act like she didn't exist. Usually that didn't even get her so much as a wave. This time her existence was acknowledged outside of her family. It was a strange feeling that made her feel a bit dizzy.

Freyja didn't seem to mind her company too much though. Everyone here had such different powers from back home. If Freyja wanted to, she could have probably easily pushed Remi away, walked away, and never interacted with her again. Instead, she continued speaking to her, just with a "tough-girl" attitude. This time confirming that she was the daughter of the teacher that taught power classes. "Why would I have a problem with that? I always thought it was cool to have a relative at school, but my sibling is way too young for me to frequently see them here."
