She may have had to wait hours for the field to clear but at the end of each day it was worth the wait. The field to herself. No one nearby who could get caught in an accident. And best of all it was encouraged of her to spend the time doing it.

Miya had waited till the last group of students using the field left before walking over to the storage shed where the targets she had requested to be made for her were kept. It took a quite a while for targets that could resist her flames to be produced but the end result meant less time and money spent remaking the targets.

Removing her jacket and setting it on a nearby bench Miya begins dragging the targets out onto the field and placing them in the areas her training required them to be placed for the day. Three grouped together, two spaced out over a yard, and then three of increasing height spread out over several yards. Today's goal was all about keeping the flames in one concentrated bunch and not let them scatter.

With her targets set up Miya walks over to her "starting" position and begins tying her hair into a pony tail to keep it out of her face. Her crimson t-shirt and black jeans clung to her figure as she pulled gloves out of her pocket and pulled them on. She was informed they supposed helped keep her flames from hurting her if a spell backfired. While pulling the glove over her right hand she looked at the burn marks over her arm and shuddered. A thought she didn't want to have at the moment.

"Alright. Focus. Don't let it disturb you Miya. You got this. Alright breath in and form the ball."

Stretching her hand out Miya stares at it and breaths shallowly as a tiny flame appears and soon erupts in her hand into a crackling flame like one would see in their fireplace before calming down into a fireball the size of her head. Well it was a start, not the size she wanted to start out with. Clenching the fireball in her fist the fire disappears as she thrusts her hand forward and launches the fireball into the grouped targets, the fire quickly spreading off the first target and creating a small vortex of fire around the three but unmoving from their dance to anything else. A smile formed on Miya's face from just what looked like something simple but was extremely difficult for her.

Then the wind decided that was a good moment to pick up.The flames suddenly flared up into the air from the gust of wind blowing over them which caused Miya to slightly panic before the flames died back down to the size she was maintaining it at. Well that almost went bad. For the moment Miya stared at the flames dance, using her willpower just to simply keep the flames from erupting any further as the wind began to pick up. She didn't want another fire breaking out and an excuse covering why it had happened.

Stefan

The reason for the sudden gust of wind was Stefan. After classes, he liked to fly around for fun. He was a lot like how his mother used to be, carefree and seemingly without worries. The breeze liked to play with him and they would chase each other for hours on end.

But something flared up below him. Unlike the breeze, Stefan was capable of caring about something other than play time, so he made a quick turn and slowly glided down to the Field. The breeze lost interest and went off to bother the trees beyond the school.

The girl seemed to be trying to tone down the flames. As he glided to her direction, he commanded the air to create a ball around the flames. The ball of gushing wind turned smaller and smaller and eventually suffocated the flames. When its job was done, it spread out to the surrounding area again.

He landed next to her and —

Not gonna lie, she was pretty hot.

"Yo!" he greeted, raising a hand. "Sorry about that! I didn't realize anyone was playing with fire below me."

He gave a small bow, winking. "Call me Stefan. I'm an Aurae... er, half-Aurae."

"Wha-wha?!?"

As she continued to focus on keeping the fire contained suddenly the wind picked up around it and began to, simply put, crush the flames. Miya's eyes widened as she had no idea what was even going on and was starting to get worried. Did she do something wrong again or was someone playing a prank on her? She began to show signs of panicking until she heard a voice. Without warning the targets flared back up then disappeared as Miya looked at where the voice came from. ]

A boy was standing there and Miya's first thought was she was alone with a boy. After school. In a secluded part of the field. Immediately the ribbons tying her hair back caught fire and burned away as her hair fell back into place, only her right eye showing as her bangs covered the other eye and the left side of her face. The air in the area also began to start to raise in temperature as Miya's focus over her body heat began to lessen.

"Umm.. Uhh.... I...Wasn't playing...."

She was having a little difficulty saying what she wanted. Part of it was just sheer panic of someone, a guy at that, coming out of no where and another part that she was scared that someone was sent to check in on her. Her arms went behind her back and her hands clasped together as she nervously looked at the ground then back up at the boy.

"Oh r-right you introduced yourself. S-sorry. Come on you can compose yourself."

Talking softly to herself Miya takes a deep breath as her hands find their way to her pockets. She looks at Stefan and tries to smile but the combination of her red face along with her body heat making the area gradually hotter made it difficult for her to concentrate enough.

"I'm Miya. And whats an Aurae? Sorry I don't talk with people much. Too afraid of, well, that happening in public."

Miya's right hand leaves her point as she points to a patch of dry grass starting to smoke and produce a tiny bit of sparks. Miya tried to lower her body heat but being in front of someone who came out of nowhere and talking to her despite the danger wasn't helping much.

"Umm....I'm not hurting you am I? I know the heat gets to people and I wouldn't want to.. Um....Cause a heatstroke."

Stefan looked at this whole — overheating situation and he kept trying quell the flames with cold breezes. The sudden overheating didn't matter. The breeze would never let him burn up. It kept enveloping him in a nice, cool hug.

"No, no! It's fine! You seem nervous? Don't worry about me, I was just passing by and I got a bit worried. Trust me when I say that if I heat up, it'll be consensual and voluntary." He winked. He floated a few feet from her, considering it seemed like she thought interacting was difficult. "Is this a respectable distance, my lady?"

He looked like he was lying on his stomach with his hands on his chin, except in mid-air. "An Aurae is... a, how do I say this without sounding like a loser. A nymph of the breezes. My mom was one, and then she married my dad, so now I'm half-Aurae. Never mind that, though. Were you practicing your flames? There are a lot of targets here!"

"Oh. Oh okay! Sorry I'm just not used to people actually being able to withstand the heat. And a wind nymph? That's...Well hadn't seen a male nymph around here so I guess that's cool."

Miya watched as he floated away and laid down in the air. Miya patted down her pockets and began feeling around for more ribbons but sighed seeing she burned the last ones she had on her for the day. It was pretty cool the way he spoke about his parents but it reminded Miya about her own situation and she unconsciously rubbed her arm when he was talking about them. A memory she didn't like reliving. She was snapped from her thoughts at the mention of the targets. Looking at them Miya didn't think there was a lot. Was it a lot of targets she had out?

"Well...Umm I kind of need a bunch out. I don't exactly have full control and, well, these targets were specially made for the fire I produce. I kept burning up all the other ones. If I remember right they are designed to be nonburnable or at least very very resistant to fire. They told me not to test my luck or how high."

Miya started to feel less uncomfortable about Stefan being there, especially that she didn't have to keep as much focus to prevent her body heat from overpowering him. This was new and a genuine smile crossed her face.

"I mostly have that many set up so I can test different forms of fire on them so I can see how well I can keep control. Even after five years I still don't have full control. As you saw the heat I produce can cause small fires if things are dry enough and a gust of wind can easily make me lose control."

Miya looked at Stefan when something finally hit her. And it was a feeling she liked.

"Holy shit I think you're one of the few people I've actually talked to that wasn't someone helping me with my issues. Man and here I am treating you like a diary. Sorry."

Compared to when Stefan first landed, Miya wasn't as timid but more forward and outspoken. It took a bit but Miya realized she wasn't scaring him off or burning him up and that made her smile a bit. Someone she could be around that wasn't an instructor or someone who didn't need special clothing or something to withstand her unfocused heat.

"Man wish I could do that tough. The whole flying thing. It does make me jealous when I see people flying around and such."

Stefan blushed. "I prefer being called an Aurae. A nymph is... eughhh."

When he was younger, his friends relentlessly teased him about being a 'nympho'. The word nymph brought back bad memories.

She seemed to be looking for something. Stefan tilted his head. "Do you need something? I could have it. I have a bunch of stuff in my pockets just in case, you know."

He really did have a ton of items in his overly baggy hoodie of his. He had gum, a ball of string, a few bills just in case, a half-eaten poptart, a couple of condoms, a red crayon and several rolled up papers he accumulated, stuffed in there and immediately forgot about.

Stefan nodded as she talked about her problems with her powers. Stefan never had a problem with his powers. He wondered if it was an Aurae thing or if his personality just matched with the wind, but he was already floating around for as long as he could remember. But that was the difference, wasn't it? When the wind was welcoming and playful, fire was deadly and selfish, and difficult to control when you let it overpower you. It had a lot more complicated politics than simple flying.

"Fire is a difficult power to master, I think. You have to assert your dominance or it'll eat you up, and it can smell fear so you're super doomed if you're afraid of it. I'm sure you can do it, though! You look like a hard worker."

When the beautiful girl smiled, it was like a ray of sunshine, and it absolutely dazzled Stefan. Approaching shy people culminated moments like this and he never regretted it. He smiled back, wide and welcoming.

"No, no, I like it! You seem... I don't know. More self-assured. It's really attractive." He winked. At the mention of flying, Stefan casually flew around her. He teased the ankles of her feet with a soft, passing breeze. "It doesn't have to stay a wish, you know. I can help you fly. Wanna do it? Wanna take a break and fly with me above the forest?"

"Unless you got fire resistant hair ties then don't worry about it."

He sure was being helpful to someone he just met. Maybe She was just overthinking it all. Rarely got the chance as most people normally would have walked off because she didn't have on her-

"Oh shit that's right. I forgot to put this back on."

Walking over to where she placed her jacket, Miya puts it on and in an instant the heat within the area dropped dramatically to what could be considered normal. One of the few things she had to help keep things under control.

"Gotcha though. I'll try to remember to call you an Aurae instead of a Nymph if that makes you feel better. And no need to keep the area cool now. This jacket, while stylish and something I enjoy wearing, it has been imbued with a ward to lower the body heat I put out without harming me or anyone around me. Basically it reduces the output I generate into what could be considered normal for others to be around. The only side effect is using my fire magic with it on tends to be more catastrophic and on a larger scale. The people who made it don't know why and just suggest I don't do it unless I absolutely have no choice."

Miya listened as Stefan talked about the danger of fire, most of which Miya knew first hand what it could cause as she rubbed her right arm where some of the burn marks were. She knew very well what the fear of flames could do. Before she could go any further with that thought more compliments came her way and caused Miya to blush some more. Especially at the "being attractive" part.

"Well... I mean...Thanks. I...Don't uhh.. Yeah."

As much as she tried to form words they just weren't coming to her. Was this guy for real? Talking to her like this? Most guys were too afraid of the heat or were just plain afraid of her. Then there was also that some already figured she had someone and didn't want to intrude.

"F-flying? I mean if it doesn't involve you just carrying me or me holding onto you...Well I suppose that's the same huh? I just don't want to be a mini-sun in the air ruining people's afternoon with whatever heat escapes the ward on my jacket. Am I worrying too much? I don't know I could be. Sounds like I am."

With the amount of compliments and such coming her way in such a short time Miya began to start speaking rather rapidly. She was flustered and didn't know how to react to it completely. This caused a small amount of heat to escape her but not too much. Just like sitting in the car with the heat on.

Stefan gasped dramatically as he saw her put on her cool jacket. "Oh my god! You look amazing! You should start a biker gang." He made a dramatic rainbow gesture with his hands. "Fire Power, or something like that. Pyro Spiro. Hell's Flames. Hey, if you do it, can I join?"

He circled her again, checking out her sweet ass longcoat. "Huh. Well, don't worry about things going out of hand. My wind is strong enough to put out most fires... Unless it's a big-ass forest fire. We might need a Hydrokinetic or a Fire Department for that."

They reached the topic of flying.

"You worry too much. I have the breeze, remember? It won't let you accidentally hurt people, I swear."

He gestured at the forest, as if beckoning it to come closer. He wasn't gesturing to the forest, really, but more to the wind that played with the grass and the trees. It listened to his request and lifted Miya off the ground, raising her up to his level. He laughed.

"See! Fun, right? So, do you want to go fly around? I'll tell the wind to just follow me by default, but it might listen if you tell it to put you down or turn left or something."

"What do I look like? Some kind of punk? Funny names but still."

Miya shrugged at the names. It was a joke and she knew it but the fact that her attire looked like such bothered her when people said things and made the remarks. She watched Stefan as he circled around her while floating. Well it was her own design so she didn't mind showcasing it off and letting people admire her work. The smile on her face grew a bit from it.

"I can cause a forest fire without using actual magic ya know. Long as my coat stays on it shouldn't be that big of a-Hey what the fuck?!?"

Miya instantly became a combination of flustered, startled, and panicked as she suddenly raised into the air by the wind. Like someone learning to swim Miya began waving her arms and legs around until she heard Stefan's explanation.

"Umm.... Well...Okay. I'll try. Umm do I just talk to it?"

Miya had calmed down enough to where she just floated above the ground without much worry. Just to see if his words were true she folded her legs up and sat cross legged in mid air, both her hair and jacket flowing underneath her nearly touching the ground.

"Huh. Well that's....Actually pretty damn cool. Well....I suppose we could fly around. But I don't want to move fast or anything. Nice and easy, along with not wanting to lose my coat. Made this myself so it means a lot to me. So, umm, let's fly?"

"Yeah, you look like a punk. It's not a bad thing. It has a really sexy bad girl vibe, you know?"

Stefan was caught in a heavy giggling fit as he watched her react in such a silly manner to the wind. It was hard for him to process that it wasn't a feeling most people were used to because he grew up with it. Like his mother, the breeze was his most loyal and faithful companion.

He clapped his hands excitedly when she agreed to go flying with him. "Yay! Awesome! All right, we'll float as gently as the breeze."

Stefan slowly floated above the forest, and since he told the breeze carrying her to follow him, she was floating behind him soon after. He looked at the funny leaves and birds and forest animals running around the ground. This was his favorite view, he thought. He could see everything. "Soooo, how is it?"
