The moment the food hit the table, even though it was not much, the scent of it hit Barackiel hard. This was the first time he had really smelled food before after all. Almost as if it knew what was going on his stomach growled loudly once more.
He was about to say something about it when he got distracted by the question she had asked. His side of things? There were no 'sides' just the facts of what happened.
“I am on a temporarily leave of atonement. I had failed in a mission and now I must complete what I had started plus more to make up for this mistake.” He said rather factually. “I had been given a secondary duty to hunt down demons and I missed one of them, a rather large spider demon by the name of Pandora. My peers brought this matter to the attention of the Almighty and I was given a mission of atonement. It is that simple honestly, once I have completed my list then I can return to paradise and my rightful place as one of the seven princes of Heaven.”
Barackiel, all unknown to him as he was focused on his story, had moved closer to the table while speaking. The smell of the food was driving him closer to the source as his stomach seemed to grow more and more ravenous.
“Does all human food smell this good?” He asked while he started to drool a bit. Wiping the corner of his mouth with his right hand he looked down at it. “And why is my mouth suddenly leaking this clear liquid?”
