Lei laughed. "We're trying the rides!" he declared with certainty. "If I get scared, I'll hold your hand, and if I get sick, I'll barf on you, probably."

When Deith was done paying, he grabbed him by the arm and out of the restaurant. He was, at first, disoriented because he was at a part of the city he was unfamiliar with, but he soon recovered and led Deith to the beach's direction. He squeezed him on the arm. "Get me a giant teddy bear and I'll stick my tongue in your mouth."

Deith was a little bit shocked when Lei pulled him outside, although he did nothing but simply let the male guide them towards the waters, where the amusement park was nearest.

What Lei said next surprised him even more, to the point that he even felt his face burn. He stared at Lei for a moment, blushing, before as if he's just snapped out, his face expression changed entirely to a more-than-pleased grin. He leaned forward, briefly giving Lei's lips a light brush with his thumb. "Alright, sounds easy," he said, before returning the distance they had just a moment ago.

His eyes scanned their surroundings until they finally found the gigantic rides near the pier. Smiling, he led the way this time, not letting Lei go until they finally reached it. That busy place, full of fun and energy. Deith felt them, energy that he could actually... 'eat'. Coming here was a good idea.

"Right. So which ones do you want to try first? How about booth games first before trying the deathly rides?"

Lei playfully bit Deith's thumb, chuckling a bit.

The amusement park was disorienting as always. Lei grew up in the mountains. Cities were difficult to maneuver, and amusement parks were a never ending flurry of stimulation. He had no idea how people could handle it, really, but he was trying out new things today.

"Booth games," he said. He wanted to show off his cool moves and make Deith fall in love more with him, probably. He tugged at his sleeve. "Come on."

And so they went, exploring the place a bit as they hunted for good booth games. No need for maps, Deith deemed this trip to be enjoyable just like this. Soon enough, they reached an area lined up here and there. Shooting games, luck games, the usual. But Deith wondered if Lei knew all this. The last time they were together, this cutie didn't even know what a bathtub was.

The memory caused him to grin. Turning to Lei, he tug on his hand a bit, before pointing to the games. "What do you want to play first? I was thinking, we could try anything except those games with teddy bears as prices. Let's save that for last." And then he snickered a bit more.

Lei looked at the games.

They all looked equally dumbfounding to him. A dude was spraying balloons with water, and another just threw a ball at a guy's head. Someone hit a platform really hard and sent a piece of metal flying into the air. A guy looked panicky about that, so that might not happen often.

He looked at Deith again. He was handsome. More to the point, he was very smart and knowledgeable about " the modern world ".

He tugged at his arm. "Uh. I've only seen these kinds of things in movies. I don't really know how they work. All I know is that giant teddy bears are a romantic thing to get for your partner."

Deith was skillfully observing everything at once for one moment. He felt the energy around him, and he wanted to take them all in for snacks. Unfortunately, he was also aware that he had to tend to Lei at the moment, and that meant he wouldn't be able to do anything related to his real self. Not while he planned to keep himself a secret from this very innocent guy that he's infatuated with.

He felt Lei's hand on his arm. He turned to him, grinning, as he was already aware that Lei wasn't used to places like this. "So that's the thing about the teddy bear, huh? I thought you were simply fond of plushies." Deith was genuinely amused. He chuckled. "I suppose you can't choose then? Come on, we can look around, and then see if anything looks fun to you."

He pulled him gently by the hand, and they started to walk around the area, slowly passing one booth at a time to check which ones could be interesting. The first booth had the balloon and dart game. Some kids were crowding around the area, watching someone try to hit the balloon targets with the limited darts he had.

Then around that area, there was also the whack-a-mole game, and a game where the player has to shoot rings into some hoops. Most of the other eye-catching games there were shooting games with different kinds of prizes for the winners. Some food booths were scattered around.

"Wanna try the whack-a-mole game? Or maybe something else?"

"Look," Lei started, allowing himself to get dragged by Deith but his eyes were darting all over the place, "I've done a lot of modern world research during our time apart, just so you know. I've perused many of the local video rental shop's videos... before they kicked me out for freezing the place. But anyway, I've learned a lot of things, namely that cars are very dangerous, Deith, stop using yous because it will explode, and also that it is a sign of incredible romantic affection to give your partner a giant teddy bear. I have not uncovered the cultural basis for this action from the Googles yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm spot on with that analysis."

He looked at the whack-a-mole machine. That just seemed heinous. Why would he want to commit undue animal violence upon an unsuspecting creature? But when a child grabbed its bat, it started hitting a plastic toy. Right! Of course that was what it was. Modern humans weren't so depraved as to find happiness in killing animals (or were they???)

Lei let out a sigh of relief. He cracked his knuckles, ready to impress. "All right, let's try whack-a-mole!"

Deith snickered, and reminded himself to tease Lei later. He would have done so right at that moment, if only Lei didn't look hyped at the whack-a-mole game all of a sudden. The teasing wouldn't matter much like that. "Alrighty then."

He pulled Lei closer to the booth. They waited until the previous player finished and got his prize, and then Deith went to the booth's owner and paid for a couple of turns. The owner replaced his money with coins for the machine. Immediately, Deith inserted two into the slot and then handed Lei the hammer for the game. "You saw how it's done, right?" he asked, referring to how the previous player just did his best to hit every plastic mole that came out of the machine's holes. "Just have fun, you can even imagine the moles to be a head of someone you hate, and the hitting would feel even better! Especially if you hit them harder." He laughed, and his laugh was almost a bit too realistic and sounded as if he meant what he said. Well, he actually did. But he shrugged that off with a playful "Just kidding~" and a grin.

"No. I am definitely going to think they're people I hate."

He grabbed the coins and copied what the kid did earlier. After a few seconds of a dangerous whirring sound from the machine, the sign lit up and the plastic moles began popping all over the place.

BAM!

"That's Kaya!"

BAM!

"Tian!"

BAM!

"HAL!"

BAM!

"PASCHALIS!"

And then, in rapid succession, "SID'S STUPID PERFECT BICEPS!"

Lei was quickly getting the highest score in the game. With a final hit, he beat the high score...

...But the machine also shattered under the hit. He wondered, did he get super ripped? But when the machine broke to several pieces, it was revealed that the entirety of the inside was ice.

Shit.

He grabbed Deith by the hand and absconded into the crowd before whoever ran the damn thing could find them. Oh fuck. Oh fuck. They were criminals now. They might've escaped now, but they will never get away with under the eyes of the law.

Deith wasn't really sure what his take would be at hearing so many names. And whoever Sid was, he was pretty sure he'll never get along with him. He could already imagine the things he might do if they meet, it might not end so well--

The sound of the machine getting shattered snapped him out. It was pretty loud, and with so many people around, it easily grabbed so many attention. Deith could only stare surprised before being grabbed and running away with Lei. Before disappearing into the crowd, Deith saw the owner's face, and the dumbfounded look he had. Shocked as he was, Deith started laughing.

"You... You were angry for real, huh? There was so much ice!" he said. After earning a good distance from the whack-a-mole booth, Deith started to slow down, grabbing Lei's wrist. He couldn't stop laughing. The whole thing was adorable to him.

They could only afford a few seconds of rest before Deith dashed off, being the one to pull Lei this time. After all, the angry booth owner might come after them. He led them to some alley between larger booths, near the giant rides. The shadows would hide them well.
