He nodded to Savannah in response to her musing. He wasn’t used to being bowed to and felt a little awkward not bowing himself. He lost the opportunity to do so when another person entered the room. To be honest, he was thankful for the attention to be off of him for now at least. He reached up and tightened the black tie under his white collared dress shirt. Feeling this was a business occasion, he had dressed in black slacks and put on a tie. He still wore his usual worn work boots, though. His hair was pulled back in a ponytail.

He was interested in the newcomer, but he did notice Loch. To Abel it seemed like Loch was struggling to stand up. He didn’t know what had happened to Loch, but it must have been difficult on him. He began to wonder if this was a dangerous place. He hadn’t talked about what happened to him, and Abel felt a bit awkward about bringing up what might be a difficult subject, especially right after meeting him.

He made sure not to stare too long at Loch. The last thing Abel wanted was eyes on him when he was having a hard time, so he tried to give him some privacy. He had to question what the doctors were thinking sending so many people into a room where an injured patient was trying to rest. It must be a hectic time. It’s almost as if they were just trying to push them aside while they tried to deal with something more pressing. He began wondering again if this place was dangerous.

Abel pushed aside these thoughts as the others began engaging the newcomer with idle conversation. He didn’t bother joining in, because two of them had already asked him something. Adding a third question seemed a bit much. He was interested in hearing the answers though, and to be social he smiled and gave a nod towards him as well.

Damien took a nonchalant half step back from the Savannah. Kitsune tended
to be flirty and seductive but their reasons were often loaded with simple curiosity, self interest, or ulterior motive, though his experiences had taught him some shen could be different he chose to go with the stereotype for the time being.
"My name is Damien Kusanagi, and yes i'm here for the physical." His said curtly as his training as a body guard took effect.

He first noticed movement from the corner of his eye which took his attention away from Savannah momentarily as he saw the other boy get up from the bed. This made one person in the room that was unidentified to him. They all seemed like strangers to each other, knowing names alone, but with no history and probably increased stress from the crowding of the room.

"I was outside in the waiting room when I heard voices and grew curious. Besides I actually hate physicals." He said with a smile. The added emotional response was due to a social stimulus program he had installed to make situations with people easier. Back when he was completely human he wouldn't have been able to meld into tense social situations like he could with the added computer components to his mind.

"I know why I'm here, but why are their more than two people in a hospital room?" He asked, inquiring about the very situation that had caused his initial curiosity.

The newcomer whom she was talking stepped back, she wasn't that scary was she? Savannah eyed the introduced Damien oddly, all three apart from Lochlann were here for a physical and all put into the same room. Whatever the reason be it should be temporary?

Savannah crossed her arms and had a thought of her own while Damien spoke to the other boys. It wasn't strange because she was stuck with males in one room. When you walked into an inn many, many years ago. Men would applaud the sight of a women, the condition was is that you drank whatever they gave you, eat what you want and dance a table here and there. It wasn't as bad as one might think, everyone would get fired up and get drunk themselves, at the end of the night you were either asleep on the counter or passed out in masses outside.

The men in the room must have been through these procedures before, this would be Savannah's first time. Ever so slowly she'd be living more like a human than a fox.

The fox had a stab at Damien's question, not that she knows. "Doctor's orders, human hierarchy is rather complicated. Respect and command comes a lot from perspective these days." She nodded to herself before skipping over to the spot Lochlann had left for her early. Savannah plopped herself onto the bed and stretched her arms upwards with a slight yawn.

"These beds are surprising soft, I could curl up soundly with one of these." She commented out the blue with a smug look.

"My name is Damien Kusanagi, and yes i'm here for the physical...I was outside in the waiting room when I heard voices and grew curious. Besides I actually hate physicals."

"That makes two of us," Loch mumbled. "Actually, I'm surprised you all showed up at all. I skipped mine."

Loch's eyes drifted to Abel, missing his gaze by just a second. The other boy had been quiet, but it's not like they'd given him much chance to talk. Still, the dress shirt and the tie made Loch a little suspicious. He didn't know much about this kind of stuff, but did people usually dress up for physicals?

"I know why I'm here, but why are their more than two people in a hospital room?" Damien said.

That didn't sound like something coming from someone sent here to kill him. But, he couldn't be sure. Lochlann didn't relax, but some of the tension left his shoulders, and he sat back on the bed, crossing one leg and keeping the other pointed towards the floor.

"Doctor's orders, human hierarchy is rather complicated. Respect and command comes a lot from perspective these days." Savannah said, but then she hopped up onto the bed with him and the tension imminently came rushing back at Loch, worsened when she stretched and he had to force himself to not take a glance at her.

"These beds are surprising soft, I could curl up soundly with one of these."

Loch's mouth opened.

He already knew what he was going to say: "They're cold though, so I wouldn't recommend curling up alone." And he knew how he would say it. He'd drop his voice down, letting his words carry slow and sweet like honey, and he'd look at her with eyes that said want me and give her a slow, easy grin. Loch was a predator and this is how he hunted.

But the words never came out.

He wasn't sure where the self control came from. Maybe it was the lingering paranoia (even predators didn't hunt when they were in danger) or maybe it was because he wasn't hungry, maybe the sedatives, maybe all of the above?

But for the first time in a long time, Loch felt....well, not normal. It was hard to feel normal with a cloudy head and a needle stick in your arm, but he didn't feel like a complete monster.

"They're doing renovations and it's taking longer than they expected" he said, then cleared his throat, surprised at how hoarse his voice sounded. so they're transferring the patients into this week. You guys--and girl, sorry-- got shoved in here with me for privacy and all that shit."

He took a deep breath, doing his best not to look at Savannah, trying to be respectful, so he found his eyes returning to Abel.

"You just came here a week ago?" he said, "Mind if I ask where from?

They were all foreigners here, but Loch was homesick. The question could easily be answered by all three of them, so he gave a slight nod of his head to open it up.

The conversation continued along pleasantly enough. Abel had no idea how close to losing it Loch was getting and he didn't pick up on how deliberate and calculated Damien's speech pattern was programed. If Savannah had some kind of ulterior motive, he didn't notice that either. To him, everyone was just having a normal conversation. In fact he thought that they were all actually getting along well enough. Despite everything, he was probably right. Everyone had their own circumstances, and for whatever reason, they were all doing their best to get along with each other despite their differences.

Yes, the 'gifted' youth was keeping his secrets. Perhaps, the fox spirit did plan to play some sly trick on the rest. Maybe the cyborg was only waiting for orders to strike. It was also probably true that the only thing keeping the water spirit in check was the fact that he was in no condition to take on all three of the others in the room. However, for the moment they somehow managed to come together on friendly terms.

When the conversation shifted back to Abel, he replied naturally.

"Well, I'm from the United States, but my parents were born in the Philippines," he explained. The US was a melting pot of various different nationalities. Asking where someone was was often not enough to satisfy a person's curiosity. In the spirit of including everyone in the conversation, he turned to Damien.

"How about you?" he asked plainly enough.

He was happy to make small talk with them. He already considered them all to be friends, but deep down, he knew this tentative peace couldn't last forever.

Damien thought for a moment. He was born in Japan originally but he had been taken to the U.S. multiple times and considered certain places in the country to be home. Despite this he decided to answer with his hometown as the given.
"I'm from Kyoto, and you?" He offered, proposing a question of his own. The question about home flashed memories of his life prior to and he began counting the mistakes but stopped when he got to fifteen.

It seemed odd that they would put all of them in a room but what was more significant was the fact that they hadn't been approached by anyone to start the physical. It was almost as if the number of people in the room was planned from the very beginning.

He shook his suspicions off, chalking it up to paranoia and ignoring what one might normally consider instinct in the favor of not causing an unneeded ruckus. Then he though back to Loch's comment.
"Wouldn't it be more of a breech of privacy to keep multiple people in this room with someone hooked up to a bed than it would be to leave us in the hallway where we might hear about someone having an odd testicular structure or something of the like?" He inquired suddenly.

The Kitsune glanced her eyes round the males, watching, waiting. In answer to Loch's mumbled she gave her own input. "Providing the service is nice, I might find an excuse to bed myself here in the future." The trick is figuring out how to get assigned to a ward in the hospital. The doctors nowadays can find out all sorts of things without you telling them, that was what made it difficult.

Furthermore, she noticed the open mouth from Lochlann, she wondered what he was gawking at. The fact he said nothing caused her attention to disappear for the time being.

It was brought back once Loch spoke again. "I'm sure worse things could happen" She muttered as she rolled her eyes to the ceiling and began to swing her legs.

The conversation moved on, Abel was from the United States, Savannah had never been to the States ever. It was somewhat of a crime considering the time she's walked and breathed the air for. She made a mental noted to perhaps speak to Abel in the near future.

Damien then announced where he was from Kyoto. Now that sounded familiar. Savannah picked at her brain with a thoughtful expression, soon realising Damien was from Japan. Considering he was Japan, did he learn any mythology while he was there? Chances are that he did. Just as she was getting deep thought, her concentration was broken.

She snorted, her mouth began to tremble and then it opened slightly as she tittered audible. A hand was thrown over her mouth to help contain the sound. "That will see me through the rest of the day. Oh my, the imagery is rather amusing." She panted.

"If you have any more to jest, please do share." She directed to Damien with a wide grin. This time her tails were sliding themselves on the bed furiously. Savannah was quite the happy fox.

Loch listened—Kyoto, the US/ Philippines, but no answer from Savannah?—and when he was asked he found himself struggling to think of a real answer.
I moved a lot. Wales, England, and Manx, then the states...and now here, I guess.

He shifted in the bed, bringing his other leg up so he was sitting again, listening to the wind rattling the panels and the creaking of the tree outside the window. He was done trying to fool himself; he wasn’t getting up.

Wouldn't it be more of a breech of privacy to keep multiple people in this room with someone hooked up to a bed than it would be to leave us in the hallway where we might hear about someone having an odd testicular structure or something of the like?"

”Well, they’re moving in-patients, not just talking about them, and it’s not like they’re going to curtain off the entire hallway.” Loch started. “Besides I don’t think—

He didn’t know how he was supposed to finish without having to answer any other questions. They hadn’t asked him why he was here and he appreciated that, but if he finished he might have to explain certain things. And Loch didn’t want to. He didn’t want to be left alone again. He liked the company. He’d been cooped up alone or in his room for too long, and Loch wasn’t meant to be alone. He was a predator, but he was a social animal, too.

”I don’t think I’m supposed to be awake,”he finally admitted, “They gave me a lot of shots, so I guess they thought I’d sleep through it anyway.”

Loch frowned, a little bit of discomfort evident in the way his brow furled. He avoided eye contact, instead looking at the floor, and rolled his shoulders inward. ”I didn’t think they’d be this long, though. I wonder if something happened.”

Lightning crashed.

For the second time in the last week, glass cracked and shattered behind Lochlann. He jerked, tilting his back towards the blow to keep what he could from spraying Savannah out of instinct, but there wasn’t as much sprayed. The branch large oak outside had split, the larger branches meeting with the building and scraping the siding. They were lucky it missed them. The wind rushed in, filling the void left by the crash with the howling of wind and the sound of a car alarm going off outside.

Up above, the lights flickered and then turned pitch black.

”Is…is everyone okay?” Loch asked, a little dazed, though whether it was the drugs or just surprise he wasn’t sure. It didn’t stop him from mumbling ”I really fucking hate storms” under his breath.

Patient 3452. It is what it said on the door. He had seen it often enought, through the glass, as the door opened and closed. Usually, it was the nurses that came, small women, dressed in white, and and red. He might have liked them. He wasn't sure, as his mind was always foggy after he ate the food they brought. He wanted to refuse, but he knew he couldn't. He had to eat. They would make him eat, the small nurses that trained in subduing patients like him, and the horrible doctors that sometimes came, looking at him through the glass, takin notes, silently, oh so silently. Nobody talked here. Nobody ever talked, and the silence hurt. The light hurt too. There was always light. No dark, no shadows. He didn't know how they got rid of the shadows, but he couldn't find them anywhere, not one bit. Not even his own shadow. His shadow. He wanted his shadow back! Back, back, back, back to the darkness where it was safe! It hurts! It hurts too much! Why doesn't anybody ever talk?! Why's there no shadow?! He wanted, no, he needed his shadow back! NOW!

The doctor standing on the other side of the glass took a few more notes on the Patient's behaviour, thus concluding his report that the patient's condition was not getting better and that he should continue to be treated as till now-drugs in every meal, even as he was confined to the glass room with no shadows he could use as a weapon. As he went over the words he wrote one more time, something went wrong. The bright white lights flickered, and there was a sound of thunder, before everything went black. Doctor's heart stopped. No, no, no, no, this couldn't be happening, not while he was here of all places in the world.

'Breathe.', he had to remind himself to breathe. 'He is still behind the glass, he is still behind the glass...', he whispered a prayer under his breath as he retreated towards the door of the room. Just a few more steps, just a few. Then, as he was about to grab the knoob, something grabed his hand. 'No...', he whispered, as he felt it brake.

'Michael.', the patient barked at him, as he left him for dead, before running into the still dark hall. Finally, there were shadows, shadows all meant for him to hide in.

Hello, there. So, this is Michael, and he is free and on the run now. No interaction with anycharacters just yet though. I hope that is okay.

Damien's eyes switched to dark vision, seeing as a cat would but with minor amounts of color. He was mostly unconcerned with the weather, but that may have been the emotion suppressors. He looked around, none the worse for the wear and then looked at Loch.
"Storms aren't so bad. It's probably just the atmosphere of the hospital in conjunction with the lightning outside that makes it seem worse than it is." With the power out it didn't seem unlikely that he was going to need to be here, nor would they be able to run his diagnostic scan with the power down.

"I should leave. They won't be able to run my physical with the power down anyway." He said calmly and politely, voicing his thoughts in a logical manner and turning to walk back out into the hallway so he could leave the infirmary. He figured they would be fine out their own though with the glass broken the room wasn't a good place to keep the others anyway and he figured they would be dismissed soon as well.
