"You could call her a sister, yeah. That's as close as it can get but she's not a lizard, she wasn't raised by a witch and a tree, she's cute, and she is way off limits. Just an advance thing." For the briefest moment, Eph's golden eyes turned to a fierce, warning glare. Then it was back to her chipper look of general pleasantness.

The warning she just shrugged and giggled off. It would actually prove to be in her favor - far as she knew, she wasn't ticklish, and if she was, that would be fun. Otherwise, she'd just have pretext for more physical contact to mess around with. Her tail snaked up Lochlann's leg and poked at his side again. "I don't know either. Feel free to, uh, expand my knowledge, so to speak."

She noticed as she orbited around him, sporadically snapping pictures, that he was a bit stiff for a short moment. "Relax, Loch. Just do what you normally do. I'm not here to judge, and I'm going to make sure I use only the decent pictures. Maybe toss in one or two unflattering pics but that's it."

His remark on punishment had her drop a bemused expression. It seemed he was a bit on edge, which to be honest felt slightly endearing, but at the same time slightly exasperating. "I don't particularly like being punished, honestly. If it's teasing or stuff like that, I don't call that punishment so that's off the list... and by punishment I figure we'll figure it out later. Some sort of penalty is probably kinda a better way to put it. Easiest is always 'loser has to do something for the winner' which may or may not be what we go for."

A shutter clicked, and Eph put down the camera for a bit, clutching it against her chest. "The idea is you ask anything you want to and the other person has to answer. Any question, and anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of Eph. They won't leave that court though."

Do what he would normally do. Lochlann hesitated and then, after a moment’s consideration, walked closer to the window and leaned back so his hands gripped the ledge and he was backlit from the glow from outside. Normally, he’d be perched in the window, smoking or drinking or reading a book, looking at the outside world and wishing he was out there.

Instead, he was looking at Eph and looking like he was content to be here, with her, in this moment. He licked his lips for a moment and then considered again her game.

“Okay,” Lochlann said, and then he gave her a sidelong look through his long lashes. The beginnings of a smile again tugged at the corner of his lips, as though caught by fishing wire.

“I am afraid I have never been very good at asking questions, but if it is alright with you, since you have seduced me into wearing these clothes and playing this game, I would like to ask the first question,” Lochlann said.

He considered this. The predatory part of him, the part that was determined to convince her that he was a worthy mate, wanted him to ask a question that would not only get her to reveal some information he could use, but one that would also make him look clever at the same time. The other part of Lochlann ignored this, because he still wanted her to think of him as human.

“What was your very first day at the academy like?”

Lochlann by the window seemed like a perfect dramatic shot, and Eph didn't let the chance slide. Before he could move, she snapped a few pictures and inspected them, nodding with a smile in approval.

Satisfied, she tucked the camera back into her dress, thinking to put the picture-taking on hold for a bit. She turned it off with a deft touch and tucked it in neatly in the cloth of her clothes. She then bit her lip in disappointment when she saw the smile form on his, regretting her decision to hide the camera. Still, the moment had passed.

Her head tilted and her finger raised, Eph said, "I didn't seduce you into those clothes, excuse you... if it was seducing, first, I'd be trying to get you in less clothing than more. Second, if I seduced you into a game it would be a different sort of game, and third. Third. Yeah, there's no third. Oh, wait there is - yeah go ask the first question, I did say you go first."

At least he was thinking about his question. That was a reassuring thing, she thought as she walked over to his side, craning her neck out the window and looking around. The weather was nice, not too sunny to be irritating, and not too cloudy to worry her with the possibility of rain. The view was good, and she turned to Lochlann. "Nice view."

His question caught her off-guard in all honesty, and it showed in a brief, visible moment of confusion. She was expecting something a little more flirty, but it was these little surprises that made her like his company in the first place. "Not the question I expected, but it's better than the last guy who asked me about my breeding cycle... that was really classy."

"I... well, it was kind of... bad. See, I got here after my ma died - she sent me here. I don't know why pa didn't stop me from leaving but I think he knew this would be best for me. Anyway, long story short, first days were very, very lonely and sad. Took a while before I could stop being sad."

Eph leaned out the window again with her elbows on the windowsill, eyes staring straight up, legs outstretched and tail lazy on the floor. "You're asking good questions. I'll probably just ask you what you ask me. How was your first day here and how did you get here?"

When she pointed her finger at him, Lochlann pretended to bite it.

"First," he said. "You did seduce me into these clothes. I mean, have you looked in a mirror today?"

He gave a low wolf whistle.

"Second, you seduced me into a game, see reason one. And third....you did say I can go first, so no complaints."

He was pleased when she joined him by the window and titled his head to look at her as she looked out the window, admiring her portrait with a lingering sweep of his eyes.

At first, he took her confusion for displeasure, which was reinforced with her comment about the last time she'd played the game. He sympathized with a 'yikes' and a cringe with the comment about the breeding cycle thing, shaking his head. Now that she'd mentioned it, Lochlann was suddenly curious, but it wasn't a question he really needed to know the answer to.

He frowned when she told him about being lonely and sad for the first days, and he could imagine what attending here might have been like if his mother had died instead of being--well, instead of what had happened.

He was not, however, expecting her to ask the same question and Lochlann was a little caught off guard.

"Oh," he said, and his frown stayed on his face before fading when he shrugged. "My first day. I can barely remember. My girlfriend had died shortly before I arrived here, and I was not happy about arriving. I don't think I spoke to anyone. I think I kicked the admissions counselor. I arrived right before classes started, during that break in August, so it was very quiet."

He didn't consider that his first day, though. His first day was the day Guinevere Haze had kicked him on the beach and stolen his amulet. That felt like his first day.

"It was....yeah."

If she was going to ask him the same questions he was going to ask her, Lochlann was going to get very general. He tried to think of a safe question.

"Besides meringues, what is your favorite kind of desert?"

All Eph had to say about Lochlann's first day was "Wow." Indeed, she didn't think there were any appropriate words to say after learning such a thing, and instead opted to just hug him. "Hope you're mostly okay about it now."

There were several questions there that begged asking though she didn't attempt to press on and ask them. Not yet, anyway. It was too early in the day for the hard-hitting things. Instead she simply said, "I'd ask what she was like but that doesn't seem like a good idea."

Eph released her grip on Lochlann. "Aw, you shied away from the armor-piercing questions! You're hiding something. Something I'm going to find out," she declared with a hearty dose of cancerous laughter. It was nice to muck around with someone she could laugh without reservation around. "I do hereby solemnly swear that I will find out at least one of your big secrets by the end of the day."

Thoughts of meringue popped into her head like sudden clouds, and she barely noticed that she began unconsciously licking her lips. It took a few moment to snap her out of her dessert daydreams, and she tucked her tongue back inside the safety of her mouth.

"I'd have you for dessert but that has some issues... like having none of the rest of the meal and me not being a cannibal - if you can call lizard eating human that. Don't think you are either, or are into being eaten." Eph began to tap her shoes on the ground, staring up into the open space and thinking deeply. Many things came to mind, as did the realization that she needed to cut down on sweets. What stood out though was a certain item that she absolutely loved. "Mmmmmyeaaaah got it. Flan. Why? Going to treat me to some? That is not my question, by the way. That's an aside thing."

Lochlann was on the defensive, which meant only one thing - Eph had to push forward. It was her turn to strike. Where she should strike, she just improvised.

"I don't know if you got that package I sent you, but this is sorta kinda connected to that... are you in a relationship with anyone? And if yes, are they willing to share?"

When she hugged him and said such kind things, Lochlann was visibly caught off guard, but he hugged her back and found that he was grateful for the contact....and that she didn't press. He gave a soft, "thanks".

Unfortunately, his tactic of changing questions seemed to make it worse, and when she talked about finding out one of his secrets his pupils dilated and his mouth straightened out into a straight line.

It didn't last, because her laughter was contagious.

On the subject of being eaten, though, his face twitched again into a frown. She was drawing hot and cold from him as quickly as the water temperature in a dorm room shower. But, when he saw her face as she thought about sweets, Lochlann couldn't help it.

She was cute.

He..he leaned in to plant a quick kiss on her.

"Flan," he said, repeating her words to him. He couldn't quite conjur up what she had in mind--was it...jello like? He'd have to find out.

"Maybe I will," Lochlann said. "We could have this...flan. And..maybe get a movie or something?"

He liked movies. He like desert, and he liked sharing them with friends. Eph happened to involve all three of those things.

When she asked about his relationship status, Lochlann blew out a long, upwards sigh that blew his hair from his face. He actually sat back in the window sill for that one and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I....I don't know," Lochlann said. "My relationship status is complicated, to say the least. I don't...think I have a girlfriend. I don't mean to sound sleazy; it's not for a lack of communication. It's just, I confessed to a girl, but she doesn't feel the same way, I don't think, and then there's a whole mess with some lovers."

He shook his head and then realized what she'd met about sharing.

"I...I do know one girl, who is interested in that sort of thing, if you're interested in that sort of thing and don't mind that it's another woman," Lochlann said. And then, because he needed to ask a question, he said, "Are you into...uhh...that sort of thing?"

That sort of thing being experimentation, of course, although for some reason Lochlann was blushing and having a hard time asking her outright.

He almost literally spoke sex as a second language, but was having a hard time asking her this right now. It was probably because that breeding cycle comment was still on his mind, and Lochlann didn't want to fall into the same category as someone Eph had to sarcastically call classy later on. He was still unsure where their boundaries lay.

Okay, the kiss caught her off-guard. If it didn't, she'd have caught it and they wouldn't have ended up doing anything productive that day.

It seemed that they were currently engaged in a back-and-forth of catching each other where they were unguarded. The fact that he didn't seem to know what flan was also pierced under her metaphorical armor, even if the invitation to a movie redeemed him somewhat. "I don't know about going to the movies with someone who doesn't appreciate flan... but we can make it work," she said, grinning.

"You okay there?" Eph asked, a mild amount of regret welling up inside over asking that seemingly innocuous question. She didn't like it when she did something to offend the few people who put up with her.

Then again, she was feeling particularly curious today.

She listened to his awkward answer and stroked her forehead with a finger in thought. Two particular points caught her interest: the word "lovers" in plural, and the implicit invitation to a close encounter of the third kind. "You said lovers. With an 'S'. Okay, be straight with me. How many people are you juggling, if any?"

Eph leaned in close, relishing the presence of the one person she could talk like this with. Yet another of her sly grins made itself visible on her face when she inched in closer and closer slowly, speaking with a certain flirty vibe she didn't know she could have. "I don't honestly know if I'd be into that... I'd prefer to have you all to myself. But I think I can be generous enough to share."

All of a sudden her tail bound itself around his waist again. It seemed to be doing that a lot recently. Slowly, it crept up and coiled some more, drawing both of them closer. Eph knew exactly what was going to happen next, and she wondered if Lochlann did too. After all, she'd done it before.

Just as suddenly, she detached herself and turned around, leaning her elbows on the windowsill and planting her chin in her hands. The tail wagged around playfully like a third arm, poking him on the forehead. "Since I already asked, I might as well make that my actual question. How many, if any, people are you juggling? And, really, this is an important thing - do they know about all this and are fine with it? 'Cause I'm honestly fine with this all, but it's going to be a really classy move to not let them know that there is a lizard in the equation."

"And I know I'm probably screwing up my chances at getting some more time in the hay, but hey - I gotta ask."

"It's not necessarily that I don't appreciate flan....just that I don't think I've ever had it," Lochlann said. "Let me try it before you put me into the flan or anti-flan camp."

Since they were on the subject of his love life, Lochlann was still sitting in the windowsill and pinching the bridge of his nose in an effort to stop the tension headache that was inevitably brewing.

And then, her tail was around him, she pulled him close, and Lochlann was instantly aroused. He tilted his head and leaned to kiss her but--

Eph pulled away and leaned back into the window.

It took him a minute to process her answer. Her turned slightly towards her, reaching over to place two fingers in the small of her back, and said, "You're lucky I have a good heart."

But he was smiling, because he liked this game, even if he wasn't sure they liked the more obvious game they were playing. He wondered if she wanted him to change his shirt.

He wondered if that meant she was, or was not, into the threesome thing. He'd have to figure out what to tell Dorito.

"I wouldn't call it juggling," Lochlann said. He wouldn't, either, because juggling sounded like he was treating his lovers like a game or an act. But it was the opposite--he cared about each of them deeply, except maybe Cecelia but that was only because they weren't really lovers so much as...haters.

He blew out another sigh and ran a hand through his hair, mussing it. Lochlann leaned against the window so he was touching the cool glass with the back of his head, and he closed his eyes.

"Well," Lochlann said. "It's like I said, it's complicated. I don't know how many people right now...maybe...nine?"

He rattled off the mental list in his head, but he wasn't sure who to classify as a lover and who to classify as an acciddent.

"I don't know how many where one time things, how many are regular," he said. "It's...it's sort of a mess I guess. I don't normally kiss and tell. It's not a secret that I'm sleeping with people, and you're not the only non-human I've slept with. So...yes and no? Some of them know about you in the abstract sense, that I'm sleeping with a cute lizard girl who likes sweets and sewing, but they don't know your name or any personal details. "

He hoped that was a satisfactory answer. Lochlann felt like he'd just aged ten years answering this question. He didn't bother trying to explain that he'd accidentally killed one of the people he'd slept with, and then that the other one had been trying to kill him for the last two years but fell in bed with him instead, and now he had no idea what was happening in his life.

"So," Lochlann said, relieved that it was finally his turn to ask a question. "What do you want out of life in the next four years?"

Eph whistled at the number. Or rather, attempted to whistle - she tried twice and failed both times, and instead succeeded in a groan of frustration. "Just - just imagine I whistled, okay? Okay."

She listened silently to his words and nodded serenely, the tip of her head tapping on the glass of the window. At least they knew, and at least he didn't hide it. Lochlann was just earning points in her book rapidly now. Polyamory wasn't much of an issue with her except in certain cases, and he didn't seem to be one of those cases.

Pivoting on her heels, Eph turned around and pulled her head back into the room to lean dramatically next to Lochlann on the window. She put a light grip on his chin with two fingers and turned his head to face her smile. "Good to know I'm not wrong about you being a decent guy. Also good to know you have a handy description for me. I do hope you're not just saying those to get back under my skirt, because that sucks, and that's unnecessary effort."

Her fingers let go and she thought about the question. Truth be told, she had no idea.

"I don't really know. Planning is not my thing. I know what I don't want out of life for the next four years though... dead. Of course I don't want to be dead yet. I also don't want to stop all my clothes stuff and costume stuff. Maybe I want to explore outside the island though. I've been here all my life, and it's been a long life. Yeah, apparently I've been around for around seven decades, says pa."

It was a good question. Eph mentally nodded, as the sound of scales on glass would irritate her if she did it physically. "What about you?"

When she turned his head to face hers and made the comment about him being a good guy and her skirts, Lochlann shook his head.

"I'm not," Lochlann said. "A good guy, I mean. And I'd like to think I'd use my words less and do something more...like this....if I wanted in your skirts."

He did want in her skirts, of course, but he punctuated his sentence by slowly dragging his hand up along her tail and then stopping and looking surprised like oh wow I didn't know you had a tail.

He gave another small smile.

Her comment about her age didn't really affect him as much as it might have it Lochlann had a developed sense of time and before coming to the island, but he'd never been very good at it. He knew he'd been on the island and it felt like an eternity, but he didn't even know how old he was.

He laughed at her comment about not being dead yet. He could understand that very well.

"I don't think you would have to stop, the clothes and costume stuff, I mean," Lochlann said. "And not knowing was okay. I was just curious what sort of plans you had. Exploring outside the island would be fun---It can be claustrophobic here."

He didn't expect to answer this question, either.

For some reason, Lochlann was thinking about her.

He rubbed the scar on his hand, right between the tendons, and his frown returned. He was frowning a lot lately, and Lochlann wasn't sure why. He liked getting all this information about Eph, but he didn't like thinking this much about himself.

Or Her. That woman.

For some reason, thoughts of the future brought up thoughts of her.

"I would like to not die, also," Lochlann said. "Graduate college. Go home."

That was the extent of his plans. It was hard to look forward to a future when Lochlann wasn't even sure if he'd be allowed to have one.

"Tell me what inspired you to start sewing and making costumes."
