Towering high above Manta Carlos stands the Carnegie Corporation for Supernatural Advancement's main offices. Here, hundreds of workers, the bulk of them being the unquiet dead, work night and day to advance the cause dictated by their founder and current C.E.O., Elizabeth Carnegie. Like her father, Elizabeth seeks to spread knowledge and peace, with particular emphasis on public charity. Also like her father, Elizabeth often is so consumed in this goal that she becomes hypocritical in her business ethics.

Thus, the underhanded, but well intentioned Carnegie Industries has spread to Manta Carlos, promoting peace and constructing monuments, libraries, and public facilities by day, and doing what it must to get ahead by night. The bulk of her workers are completely unpaid, and indeed, have been awakened from their eternal slumber to serve in the company.

For Elizabeth's ease of operation, the company is divided up into several branches;

Carnegie Steel, focuses on all manner of metalworking, and supplies Manta Carlos with a great deal of building materials. It also is well known for forgery and custom smith work, and often do custom requests. It also is in the process of training enchanters to help endow their steel with special properties, and currently are offering it as an experimental service. This is the main moneymaker of the company, as there is always a need for steel.

Carnegie Institution for Science, focuses on the advancement of technology. It both funds outside research and conducts research of its own, generally associated with testing the limits, origins, sources, and potential of supernatural powers. It seeks to understand and provide aid to those suffering from supernatural ailments and maladies, and often works closely with the Carnegie Institution for Magic

Carnegie Institution for Magic is the counterpart to the Institution for science, and focuses on effects less grounded in the mundane. It works closely with it's sister institution, and focuses on expanding knowledge of magic of the world, and any other worlds. It does not specifically focus on medical purposes, but often seeks to bend the laws of reality to benefit the company. Elizabeth herself often works closely with this branch

The Carnegie Security Company advertise themselves as the White Knights of the city, protecting those in need of saving, for a price. They not only create and sell some of the most advanced security systems in the city, they also contract and hire out actual bodyguards and other security staff for more dire security needs. Below the surface, however, Carnegie Security also offers much shadier operations. If you know the right people, and pay the right price, Carnegie's Security staff can also be hired as quite effective assassins

The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Education works to expand knowledge, not only at the academy itself, but in the entire city. It builds public facilities, such as libraries and museums, and opens them to the public for use. It also helps in training teachers for careers, and offers many internships to aspiring undergraduates, often picking up a few of them to stay permanently after completion of their undergrad.

The Carnegie Foundation for the Arts aims to make the city more beautiful. It constructs monuments, statues, and other forms of public art, and offers plenty of opportunities to the artists of Manta Carlos. It frequently hosts public art events, and has even opened up the walls of many Carnegie buildings as "Open Canvases"

The Carnegie Department of Administration may be the most deceptively christened of all of the company branches, for in truth, administration is only secondary function of the branch. Sure, it handles the paperwork, but it also pores over it for tax loopholes and incentives, carefully monitoring the resources of competitors and striking at them in any way they can.
