Emily set a hand on Alessa's wrist and gave her a small smile. "It's o-okey... You didn't know... A-And just wanted to help... It's j-just a... H-Hard question to hear sometimes..." she made sure to catch Alessa's eyes with to reasure her a little before turning back to Shey.

"..... M-May I ask why you've... C-C-Come to Monta Carlos, Sh-Shey?... Would y-you be alright... With t-talking about that?... I-I know there are... Some p-people who don't feel... Like they h-h-had much choice in... C-coming here....."

Emily kept her eyes on Shey, allowing most of her attention to focus on the girl. Em wasn't sure that Shey was as alright with the situation as she seemed, so she was trying to stay perseptive to the childs emotional state.

"I was born here," Shay answered. She kept her attention on Emily, mostly because Em was watching her. Most of Shay's emotional state was bitter. It was cold anger that settled somewhere deep in her bones and was so ingrained that it was as much as a part of her as her skin was.

Over the few years of her life, Shay had learned to more or less hide the emotions on her face, though she had the tendency to look brittle neutral when she did. As if the mask might break and a monster would be peering out from behind it. But her eyes, they always gave her away.

Emily nodded a little as she listened. "What about y-your parents?... Do they h-have the same power as you?... H-Have you talked to... Th-Them about this?..."

Em lifted her tea cup to her lips, buying herself a pause as she pondered all the information she had been given. "..... What... W-Would you like to happen... Shay?..."

"No. I don't know what powers my parents had. They're not around anymore. As for what I would like to happen?" Shay paused. "I'm not entirely sure. Just something to change. I want something to change. I want to feel better."

Emily pondered Shey's words for a while, letting her eyes fall to the table as she fiddled with her fingers. "... Perhaps the answer then... is understanding your ability..." She once more turned her big green eyes on Shey, studying her idly. "... I'm not really familiar with... The level of... Intricacy... In your grade... But that's also a focus in... Your powers class, yes?..."

Shay looked off to the side when her power class was mentioned. "Yes," she answered mildly. Shay hated powers class. It was straining as all hell on her body, but maybe that was the point? "It's a little hard to train," she admitted.

Emily reached out towards Shey, hesitated, and then grabbed a napkin and set it over Shey's hand before laying her own over it. She was careful not to make skin contact, but still offered the comforting gesture. "I-I'm sure they don't want you... To o-overexert yourself..... An understanding o-of... Of your ability c-can be better... Th-Then just knowing h-how to use it..."

Shay stiffened as Emily took hold of her hand, even with the napkin, she could feel the warmth of the other woman's skin, and it was a peculiar sensation. One she wasn't used to. Usually, when not having just come from a powers class, Shay would have been wearing thick, leather gloves. With gloves like that, there was no room for the warmth of someone's body.

Shay remained staring at the hand on her own, trying to maintain the neutrality of her voice as much as humanly possible. "Maybe it would help if I knew exactly what I was. I just assumed witch, but I'm honestly not sure that I am."

"Perhaps that's the b-best start then..... I think... I think that wh-what is commonly r-referred to as a... a witch... Has often b-been a given t-term from the c-culture... I-I-If I'm not mistaken... P-Perhaps Alessa would like to h-help you... With that research..... Um... Y-Your power reminds me... Of o-oracles... Maybe that's wh-what you are..."
