William woke up that morning to the irritating sound of his alarm, the time at which he would wake up having yet again been set up by Warrior for he remembered no such thing. He took one bleary look at his phone, the damn thing still producing that same annoyingly chipper sound, and the only thing that stopped him from shutting up the phone by throwing it against the wall was the presence of another body in the room.

Instead, he simply turned it off, burying himself under the covers yet again, having decided the moment he woke up that he would not be going to class that day. The nightmare of his mind choosing for the previous night had been of the kind that was dark and gripping enough not to let him have any rest, yet not terrifying enough to make him wake up screaming. He thus had neither energy nor will to get himself out of bed and into some clothes only to have to suffer through the presence of twenty something other bodies for the whole day. Both Warrior and Spirit sensed this and neither tried to wake him up again until he did so on his own later in the day.

By the time he had decided he was well enough to wake up if not get out of bed, the classes were over and the afternoon spread in front of him endless and cold, the heath of summer having been replaced by the chill of autumn for the day.

''I'm hungry'', he complained, rolling around the bed, still feeling too much like something living at the bottom of the ocean to actually get out of it. ''Then do get something to eat'', Spirit said from where he was lying on the floor, his tail moving left and right slowly over a small patch of space he had previously cleared of William's stuff. The boy had a side to him that no even he could control and that side could somehow spread half of the things he owned over his half of the room in less than a week only to never be bothered by it again. Spirit had long ago given up on correcting it, as it had already proved to be all but impossible.

''You do tend to get cranky when you haven't eaten in the last few hours'', he continued only to hear William snort at that. ''I am not going down there today'', he said, closing his eyes as he turned on his back yet again. ''Well, the food is not getting up here either'', the wolf laughed, raising his head to look at the boy. ''I wouldn't be so sure'', the boy laughed as well, opening his eyes as he reached for his phone. And that was how William had found himself opening the door to a strange looking take out delivery boy some hour and a half later.

''William Reed?'', he said, listing out his order once William had nodded. ''That would be...'', he started to say only to have a handful of bills all but thrown at him. ''I don't care'', William said, turning around as he closed the door with a clash. ''Keep the change.'' He had probably overpaid the boy, he always did, but it was not like he was going to miss the cash. He had triple the amount he had given him just in his wallet, let alone his credit card or emergency bank account. He might be hated, he thought, but he was still the Reed family's only heir and they had an image of wealth to uphold.

''There is no way you will be able to eat all of that'', the wolf told him, suspiciously eyeing the amount of boxes William was now holding. ''You can have some of it then'', he said, throwing a few pillows against a wall and turning on his laptop in order to make himself more comfortable.

''I'm not going anywhere near any of that'', he said, rolling his eyes. As spirits neither he nor Warrior actually needed food, though they did have certain things they liked to have occasionally, none of which, however, could be found in the bunch of boxes William was placing all around himself right now.

''College boy can have some when he comes back then'', he said, shrugging his shoulders as he looked for something to stare at on the computer as he ate. It has been some time since William had started sharing the room with Tavish and while he did keep his promise not to call him 'college boy' to his face, he had no reservations of doing so when there was no one around but his spirits. Spirit himself didn't like it much either, but he had given up on trying to correct him after only two days. There was no point to it, he had decided. Much like there was no point to trying to get him to clean up his mess.

In that time, William and Tavish had not exactly become friends, simply because William didn't know how to do that, but the boy was not as eager to rip his throat out as he was on the first day and certainly had no problems sharing the food with him, especially if it meant it would get Spirit off his case.

''What is the time anyway?'', he asked, the hand grabbing for the mouse in order to bring up the clock in the corner of the screen still greasy from holding his food. He had took yet another nap while waiting for the delivery to arrive, so he wasn't sure how long it was until the college classes ended. Looking at it now he saw it should be soon.

@"Reignfinite": Here it is. I hope it's okay. Tell me if you need anything changed :D

Tavish's classes start at nine-thirty that day. He had stayed up last night to finish an essay and some readings. So upon waking up to find that his high school-level roommate was still in bed, he only raised an eyebrow before grunting to himself and heading off to the bathroom and start his day.

It was only by second period that he realized that he didn't wake up to screaming. It was only then when he looked back to the memory of seeing the lump buried underneath blankets that he recalled William's messy head of hair. Tavish hadn't even been able to see the kid's face--whether he might be in a not-so-fitful sleep or otherwise.

For the rest of his day, William had mostly taking up his passing thoughts, as any new roommie would. Strangely, William popped into his mind even when Tavish was only picking out a rim of bond paper when he'd gone to town to get a few materials he's been running out of.

And Tavish couldn't help but keep wondering about the state of the room when he'd return. Would William make a mess like the stereotypical teenage boy? Was he the kind who'd play in the room with Spirit and probably destroy the sheets and the pillows and make a feathery mess everywhere? Although it seemed they weren't the kind who'd even resort to such childish acts, Tavish still couldn't help but worrying. For all he worried, William and Warrior could probably even have a pillow fight when nobody is around to see that side of them, Warrior especially. Who knew if he had that fun side even?

Tavish chuckled to himself after he realized how silly and foolish those thoughts were. He made his way to the local fastfood joint to get some takeout before heading home. Though it's true that Tavish may want things done fast all the time, he didn't always get takeout like this. Their food is unhealthy and greasy and most of the time far too salty or too sweet for his taste. Today is going to be an exemption because he had no time to be preparing any dinner once he reaches home. Plus he was out of stock for anything decent anyway.

The brunette figured he should probably get something for William as well so he did. It was his turn to bring William something, even though they might not have had any agreement about anything like that. In the past days, Tavish had been mostly busy with his school work and with being on the phone with Finnegan and Pauline that he actually was spending less and less time in the room. He liked keeping his conversations with his siblings private after all so he usually excused himself to look for a quiet, isolated place to hang out in and return hours later. He'd sometimes return to reading his books and notes, he's sometimes just go to bed.

Lo and behold his surprise when Tavish opens the door to his shared room and finds William surrounded by boxes of pizza. He froze on his spot for a second before he whistled low. "What's the occasion?" He asked as he closed the door and hung his keys. He smirked and cocked his head to the side. "Don't tell me it's your birthday or something?" He joked.

William's estimation that Tavish ought to be released from his classes soon turned out to be true a little while later as the college boy himself entered the room, his hands holding as much fast food as William himself had bought. The boxes around William were half empty, however, as he had worked his way through more than a half of the first pizza box, as well as the first two episodes of some random show he had found online, in the time it took his room-mate to return. This meant that the food had all but cooled down by the time entered to room, jokingly asking him what was the occasion for that much food, but that had never stopped William before from finishing any kind of food.

''No occasion'', he said, his mouth full to the brim as he tore of yet another bite of the meat, cheese and dough, chewing on hit quickly before swallowing and getting ready for the next bite, breadcrumbs and other bits and pieces falling all around and soon becoming all but a permanent pattern of his sheets.

''I woke up hungry, didn't want to go down to the kitchen'', he explained as the second episode of whatever it was that he was watching ended. He turned on the third one, leaving it to load, despite having missed the last ten minutes or so of the previous one. He needed something to occupy his mind as he ate.

Which he would continue to do for quite some time, he thought, his stomach demanding more food still, despite the fact that he was almost finished with the a pizza which was fairly big in size. Considering that he had slept through both breakfast and lunch, he thought, this shouldn't be neither as surprising nor worrying to the wolf, who was still watching him as if he expected him to puke at any given point in time, as it was.

''So no need to worry about buying me a present just yet'', he said, his lips twitching into a grin for a moment, his voice teasing, as his eyes turned from the screen long enough for him to roll them at Tavish.

''Not for six more months at least'', he said, calculating in his head how many more months it was before the calendar showed the date of his birth yet again.

Six months and two days, he thought as his eyes fell on the small calendar in the corner of the screen. He wasn't particularly excited about it, nor would he become so even as the date grew closer and closer his birthday never having been much of a thing through out his life so far. Sometimes it would even take him weeks to even realise it had passed, the beginning of May being about the only thing that made him realise that hey, he was yet another year older, yet again.

He had no doubt that this, or rather, next year would be the same, what he said about Tavish buying him a gift being a joke and nothing more than that.

''Six months and two days to be precise'', the wolf spoke from his place of the floor, not having moved from there ever since William had started eating, the frown on his face growing deeper and deeper with every bite the boy took as he truly believed that there was no way that William had enough stomach space to safely house two pizzas at once.

''I simply assumed he would go shopping before the actual date, Spirit'', William laughed as the wolf corrected him. ''He seems like the type to do so'', he said, eyeing Tavish yet again as he spoke. And considering what William had seen sharing the room so far, Tavish definitely seemed like the type to do anything that looked even remotely like a responsibility well before it's intended deadline, including, he thought, birthday shopping.

He however, had no interested in taking this conversation any further lest it turned towards hypothetical planning of his birthday party, which was something Spirit always tried him to do, despite the fact that William cared to celebrate the fact that he was born about as much as his family was, so he turned the topic back to food both he and the college boy had bought.

''I was planning to maybe offer you some of the pizza when you came back, but you seem to have taken care of that yourself'', he said, eyeing the take out Tavish had brought. ''Which is good, because I'm still hungry anyway'', he added, finishing off the pizza and throwing the box on the floor before opening the second one.

''You can't possible eat that one alone as well'', Spirit finally spoke, frowning, his voice worried, mostly about food. He could care about William disregard of his own birthday later. Right now he still thought there was no way that William could put that much food into himself without being sick.

''Watch me'', he boy said, grinning, opened the second box and tore into the now slightly cold fast food inside.

Tavish rolled his eyes. Of course, William would order takeout instead of going down a few floors to get something to eat. He didn't know why he expected otherwise. From the first day they spent together arguing and sleeping around and waking up to nightmares, William had only been out to fetch his own food for a few times. When he could avoid doing so, he would. Whether he might be willing to admit it or not, and whether Tavish was right about it or otherwise, William's being pampered showed.

"Six months, two days, huh?" Tavish echoed. He calculated the date in a second. Now Tavish didn't always buy things, let alone birthday gifts, to people who weren't kin. No need because he was never close with anybody who wasn't family. And sure, maybe some kids have given him birthday gifts before, but they were to make amends for not doing a thing in group assignments or to thank him for doing most of the work. He wondered if it occurred to them that whatever they gave him, it didn't change that they were suck-ups and suckers.

The brunette frowned upon hearing William speak about him as if he wasn't in the room. He met the other's eyes and shrugged. "Yes, because I have more than enough time to spend looking for a gift for a kid I'm not sure might like it," he replied sarcastically. He placed the takeout on the bed in front of William. He scrunched up his nose as he put aside the empty boxes. Cleanliness was a thing with him. He's sure William already knew that. This was probably one of those challenges Spirit and Warrior mentioned before that he'd have to overcome or get used to.

"I'm definitely, absolutely, certainly sure that I'm not going to give you food," he mumbled after wincing at the sight of the scattered crumbs on the sheets. Tavish sat on the edge of William's bed, bheind his laptop, with a look that asked for silent permission, not that he was going to take no for an answer. He had already planted his rear on the bed anyway and was folding his feet up to make himself comfortable.

"I might ask Spirit or Warrior for help about what you want if I do run out of time, though," Tavish said seriously as he took a slice from William's box. "Hope you don't mind. Always better to finish one thing first before starting another." One of the perks of Tavish's being slightly OCD.

"And even though I may not look it, I worry for your health, Will. Especially if I'm going to end up with an endlessly puking roommate." And though he might be a clean freak and all, Tavish would not ever dream of cleaning up after William if he does end up spewing out a box's worth of pizza. He will definitely be spraying the room constantly to get rid of the smell though.

It seemed Spirit worried the same thing when he voiced his worry. William, rebellious as ever, shoved pizza into his grinning mouth anyway. Tavish flinched a little, imagining what it must feel to be William right at the moment.

"How come you're eating this much anyway?" The chronomancer asked after taking a bite. He knows William didn't get any breakfast, as he had been sleeping in this morning. He might have gotten brunch--technically breakfast if he counted by the order of meals he's had so far--But Tavish couldn't be sure. "You haven't had lunch yet, have you?"

William felt his mind slow down as he listened to his room-mate speak, a blank, emotionless expression slowly taking over his face, replacing the openly mischievous grin he had been directing at Spirit only a moment ago, as he turned towards Tavish, staring at the other man with an almost curious look in his eyes as he realised that he might actually be serious about buying him a gift. What for, he wasn't sure. It wasn't like they were friends...

''I slept through it'', William then suddenly said, breaking himself out of the starting-moment at he had done every previous time he had felt himself do it, usually around Tavish, usually when the other man had just done something that William just didn't know how to respond to. He was used to people acting in certain ways around him, and has thus found himself confused as to what he should say and do in those few moments when Tavish's behaviour simply did not match anything that he knew or was used to. Usually, he would just shake those moments off as he had done just now, ignoring both them, and the lingering memory of them that stayed no matter how hard he tried to get it to go away, by focusing on something else, which usually included, but was not limited to, turning back towards Tavish and irritating the hell out of him until he finally responded in a way which was familiar to him.

''Breakfast too'', he added, as he swallowed down yet another slice of pizza. There were three left now, and William felt almost full, which meant that he might just as well actually let Tavish have some of his food without raising a fuss. The man beat him to it, however, taking a slice before he could offer it, while simultaneously taking residence on the edge of William's bed.

''Definitely, absolutely, certainly not sharing your food with me, huh?'', William asked, raising his eyebrow in amusement. ''Yet you're willing to share mine, and are using my bed as a dinner are'', he said, tsking his tongue seemingly in disapproval. ''I thought better of you, Tavish'', he said, grabbing at yet another slice of pizza, making it so that there was only one left in the box. He had had every intention of eating that one too, but had, however, started contemplating simply letting Tavish have after the third bite of his current one. It felt like some kind of surrender, however, and he wasn't about to surrender himself to anything or anyone.

''I'm not going to puke'', he said, scoffing both at the wolf and his idiotic room-mate, as if irritated by the very thought that he couldn't eat two pizzas all by himself-or well two pizzas minus one slice, but he wasn't counting that as it was a small slice anyway, or so he told himself. The piece of greasy, cheese covered bread which was currently in his hand, however, was disappearing at a much slower rate than it's previously devoured brethren.

''So there is nothing to worry yourself about, Tavish'', he said, rolling his eyes at the man. That, too, was something new. He had told Tavish that he could call him anything but his last name, and he had expected the man to take a full advantage of that, unconcerned with the possible array of insulting nicknames as to him, there was no bigger insult than his last name. Tavish, however, usually stuck to either William, or Will which wasn't insulting in itself but was still making him frown, in, well, confusion, it being yet another thing he wasn't sure what to do about.

He in turn did stick to the older man's name as he had promised but he made sure to find at least three different ways to say it which made it sound like an either insult or a mock depending on the tone. Right now, he was using the mocking one, making sure to accompany it by a shit eating grin.

''Especially not about my health. I'm as healthy as a horse. Can't remember the last time I was sick'', he added, truthfully, in fact. He could truly not remember the last day he had to stay in bad, not counting those on which he couldn't deal with anything at all, either because of the pain caused by the tattoo on his back or the leftover tiredness caused by his nightmares.

''Or my birthday'', he said, feeling the need to address again. ''Better not waste your time and money considering you couldn't buy anything I'd need anyway'', he said, scoffing, the last few bites of his pizza slice still in his hand, uneaten. ''Plus, if you got me something, I'd have to get you something too, and I'm not in the mood to look for a coffee factory that's for sale'', he added, finally stuffing his mouth with those last few bites.

"You slept through lunch?" Tavish echoed. How long exactly does William need to sleep in a day? Did he even sleep last night at all that his whole morning was stolen by sleep instead? He scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Of course, Will. You sleeping through lunch automatically means sleeping through breakfast."

He grinned at the other then as he finished his slice and reached for the last one. If he didn't know better, he'd say William was racing to eat that second last one so he could eat the last slice. If Tavish didn't know any better, he'd let William win at his own game. But he didn't and something felt right about taking that last slice. It's not as if he wasn't going to share his own takeout with William.

"I definitely, absolutely, certainly meant I am not going to give you any food or drink on your birthday. Not eve cupcakes, cakes or cookies," he told the other as he put aside the now empty box. He reached for his own box of pizza and placed it between them, on the spot where the previous box had been on. It revealed a greasy, triple cheese order. Nothing but cheese and a few bits of meat here and there. "And I am only eating on your bed because I am definitely, absolutely and certainly not going to make any more of a mess on it than you already have."

He watched the other doubtfully when he reassured them that he was not going to regurgitate. Tavish could only stare at him and raise an eyebrow in response to that. He shrugged then, as to say, 'So you say' before he returned to eating the last slice of pizza he'd stolen from William. At the mention of his name though, Tavish's brow fell with the other in a straight line over his eyes. It was not amusing to hear his name being said that way, but he found that he didn't mind much if it was William.

At least William didn't resort to calling him by his last name. Yet. Who knows? Maybe one day, the kid would find out that Tavish's last name was a funnier insult/mockery to use. Hopefully that day won't make itself known any time soon because wasn't Jane a far more ridiculous name to be called? It was one of the reasons why he'd prefer to be called the weird name that is Tavish instead. One of the reasons why he introduced himself with his given name instead.

"Will, please," Tavish retorted, saying William's name in the same childish manner. He fished out a new slice from his triple cheese pizza and took a bite. "I'm worried about the state of the room, too, when your stomach decides to turn inside out."

He licked grease off his lips as he pulled out a kerchief from his pocket before he proceeded to wipe his mouth of grease and cheese. He continued eating again when he was satisfied that his lips were free of the oily substances. Tavish looked at William just in time to see him fill the rest of his mouth with what's left of his pizza. Tavish cringed but he didn't say anything.

"A coffee factory would be nice," Tavish agreed with a slow nod. "But actually, I want a plantation of coffee plants." He grinned at William then. Honestly, he was surprised that William thought of getting something for him in return for his birthday present. He'd thought William wouldn't bother. Tavish thought wrong, obviously.

"You know, you don't have to get me something just because I'm planning on getting you something," he told the other, his tone more serious now. "If I wanted to get you a birthday present, that's because I want to just... give you something. Not because I'm expecting anything in return." God knows a lot of people who approached Tavish before didn't have that same thought in mind.

William tensed yet again as soon as the other man started speaking, already preparing himself for the judgement and the reprieve that such words would carry. "You slept through lunch?" Tavish asked, and William immediately frowned, his shoulders rising as he bit back. ''Yes'', he said, turning his head away from the other man, anger rising slowly in his chest. Tavish, however, said nothing more on it than rolling his eyes and saying that yes, sleeping through lunch usually means one has slept through breakfast. William has had plenty of days to prove him wrong, however, days on which he was wide awake in the morning, not having been able to sleep at all during the night, only to crash somewhere around midday, effectively skipping lunch while actually having breakfast. He said nothing of it though, his shoulders relaxing once more as he muttered into his food. ''I wasn't feeling well.'' It was as much as he was willing to tell about his nightmares and tiredness which followed him all the way throughout the day after he had had them.

He wasn't feeling tired, now, however, and even his hunger had gone away, the second to last slice of pizza disappearing down his throat marking, officially, the moment after which he could no longer put anything in his mouth, at least not for a while. His hand, however, still reached for the last slice out the stubborn feeling of pride and not wanting to lose, though at what he was not sure. He found nothing but an empty box however, Tavish having already made away with the last piece of grease bread and cheese. Scoffing irritatedly at the man to show his disdain, he was still sort of glad it had happened, even though he fiercely disliked losing, as he honestly did not know if he was going to be able to take that much more food too.

He still wouldn't have puked, tough, and was certainly not about to do it now either, the constant comments of his wolf and the idiotic room-mate irritating him much more than the lose of food, which was a fact he certainly made known, mostly by growling at them both: ''For the last, time, I am not going to puke!''

''And I have not asked for any cupcakes, or cakes, or...cookies in the first place'', he said, his voice somewhat quieter, a few moments after, his tone clearly showing disdain for something as childish as cookies, especially for his birthday. Not that he had gotten them as a child, either, really, but that was all the more reason not start thinking about or getting them now. ''So I really do not see where you have gotten the idea that I want them'', he said, scoffing, as he took a closer look at his bad now that Tavish had mentioned the mess he had made. There were bits of food all over the covers, as well as bit of the floor around the place where he had dropped the box, and the covers themselves were crumpled, a great part of his stuff covering the rest of the floor on his side of the room. It was nothing that couldn't be cleaned, really, it was just that he did not care to clean. At all.

''Or why are we talking about them'', he said, tilting his head, a frown still on his face as if he was thinking hard about it and not liking the conclusions he came to. ''So once again, do not bother'', he said, his voice sharp and heavy as he eyed his room-mate now. ''For I am in no better mood to look for a plantation than I am for the factory'', he said, not believing a word Tavish had said about not needing to get him a present back. He might not have gotten presents for his birthday, but he knew how the world worked. He had watched his parents receive gifts most of his life, and they always gave something in return, some kind of favour through the business or politics usually, or a donation for particular charity, for nothing, nothing was ever given unless you needed something to be given to you in return. He told as much to Tavish.

''They are probably stupidly hard to find, or buy'', he explained, rolling his eyes before continuing. ''So just, don't bother'', he said, a bit of a bitter smile forming on his face. ''You cannot convince me that you would want nothing in return, for nothing is ever given unless you need something returned. And I wouldn't know what else to buy you'', he scoffed, before adding, more quietly, almost as an after thought. ''Besides, I don't like being in somebody's debt any more than you do, really'', he said, remembering what Tavish had said about him giving him coffee in the first place.

@"Reignfinite": I apologize for how long it took me to respond to this. If you haven't seen my away thread, college classes have started for me as well this week/a week before and I was getting used to my new schedule, as well as having a few days of the general break from the internet. I will try not to disappear like that again however, but if I do, please feel free to poke me through PMs as that will give me an email notification, as there will be a fairly big chance that I am not actually toobusy/tired but am simply having 'the computer is too far away' feeling that week. Which, I think you will agree, is really no excuse for not posting.

"I wasn't feeling well." At that, Tavish's mind immediately jumped to the one thing he knew would put William in a bad state of health: his nightmares. Tavish knew that William continued to have them. He wasn't a light sleeper but he wasn't completely dead to the world either during the nighttime. Some nights, he could swear he can hear William tossing and turning in his sheets, but that was the extent of it. No more screams.

Tavish couldn't tell if it's because William had felt embarrassed the first time that happened and had decided to avoid the incident from repeating or if that one time Tavish saw his attack was worse than normal. Either way, Tavish found that he really couldn't do anything. He wanted to but after a lot of thinking during his idle hours, Tavish decided he should let William fight his own demons until the time came when trust has been established between them and they're a little closer than what they are now. Tavish hoped that by then, William would open up to him about those nightmares and finally let him help him. As of now, Tavish is left to only wonder about them.

He held up his hands in surrender and leaned back a little when William growled at the concerned two. "Okay, okay. I didn't really say anything else," he said, though he knew his facial expression said enough. He pulled over his own takeout and placed it on the closed box between them. He opened it and offered some to William. There wasn't only pizza in the box, but also fries scattered off on one side. Since Tavish didn't want to carry a lot of bags, he had put the fries in there beforehand.

Tavish raised his eyes in an offended fashion. "We're talking about them because as much as I dislike cakes and cup-sized cakes, I'm a cookie guy. And usually, there's only two kinds of people in the world. Cake guys or cookie guys. The cupcakes are a subcategory of cake guys, but I figured you or Warrior might be one," Tavish explained with a half shrug and a half grin. He looked to the 'ninja' in the room and flashed a smile at him. "Am I right, big guy?" he asked the silent guardian. After a while, he turned to William again. "And I was hoping Spirit would be a cookie guy," he said with a glance towards the said guardian.

Tavish leaned back and pulled out his third slice of pizza as of yet from his own box. "Eh, sure, pal," he said, finally conceding to William's insistence on getting nothing on his birthday. He frowned however when William added to that. Tavish sat up a little straighter and looked at William somberly. "You're right. I can't convince you. Maybe that's because if I give you a present, what I want in return is to see your frown turned upside down, and maybe a little gratitude too 'cuz I'm sure I'll get you a nice-enough gift that isn't cheap."

Because cheap gifts don't suit William, truth be told. Mainly because his name bears a rich status, partly because Tavish felt cheap gifts aren't things William would understand.

"Aaand maybe I expect to surprise you by giving you a present," the brunette added. "Maybe what I want in return is giving you enough proof to convince you that what I need from you in return is not anything material or a favor or whatever. Maybe I just want to show you that other people can care about you like Spirit and Warrior do."

Tavish trailed off then. He looked away and put down the half-eaten slice. He licked his lips and stared at the floor instead. So they've only been together a short while, and sure, Spirit and Warrior had spoken to him and warned him about William after Tavish had made a certain promise, but that didn't mean that Tavish hadn't already made some private connections about what William was to him. At the moment, as much as he is a stranger, he is also somewhat Tavish's little brother figure here. That is, other than being his friend and roommate, obviously. It may not have started the way William assumed it did--with him being moved to this room so that Tavish would look after him--but that certainly seems to have become the end of it. In a sense, Tavish felt that he was responsible for William in some way, too.

"Anyway... I've made my mind. I'm going to give you a gift whether you like it or not. And if you feel that buying me a coffee plantation is troublesome enough, then I've got a request present that'll be much easier for you to do," Tavish remarked after a few seconds of silence. "And that is, to clean up your side of the room for at least one day. Easy, right?" Now he really felt like talking to Finnegan.

That is fine, CD. Studies should always come first. I saw the post also. Don't worry, if I do get impatient, I'll bug you. So till then, here's my reply (in which I'm not sure where it's going now).

William frowned at Tavish as the other man held his hands up to defend himself, saying that he had not spoke anything else but what he had actually said. It was true, the young man thought, but the bitterns inside him refused to let it go, for he knew more than well that some people needed no words to express their judgement or disappointment. Their eyes spoke volumes of what they were too proud, or resigned, to say.

Tavish, however, wasn't one of those people, William thought, having to remind himself of that, as his frown focused on his room-mate's face, and then eyes. He held the other man's gaze for a few moments, before looking away, his head twitching away, a scoff escaping from his throat not a second after he let go.

''Ridiculous'', he muttered, even as he grabbed some of the food that was offered to him despite actually being full. He needed something to do with his hands, with his mind, for at least one of them was starting to go places he could not recognize as familiar. ''Neither Warrior nor Spirit need any sort of food'', he said, his frown growing deeper as he tried to decipher the....complete and utter nonsense that has just came from his room-mate's mouth. ''And I do not like any of those things'', he said, waving his hand as if to indicate all the world's cakes, cookies and cupcakes, which was not, actually, a complete truth, but he was not about to think about, or reveal, that.

The guardian spirits remained silent even as the conversation turned towards them and their likes and dislikes, of which cupcakes, cookies and cakes were not one, even though what William said was true and they did not need food, they simply liked it. It seemed however, that William had either forgotten about that...or was arguing with Tavish simply for the sake of arguing with someone about something. Usually, as the second was always more likely, this would be a point at which Spirit would speak up, but this time, he let it go on, for not only did William's jabs have yet to turn truly malicious, it was also a good opportunity to see what the other man would do when the still-just-a-boy in front of him got in one of his more violate moods for no reason at all.

''You are getting even more ridiculous by the second'', the boy said, his voice growing as cold as his frown was deep, for even though his mind recognised what Tavish had said as essentially nice something inside him was irked by those words, making his shoulders suddenly rise as if to meet his ears, and his body tense, as if expecting the punch, for people were never nice, not to him, at least, if they were to anyone at all.

The idea that somebody that was not Spirit or Warrior could care was foreign and thus immediately rejected, especially for being expressed in such a...direct way. People did not speak like that. People did not just say thing like that. People did not care.

''It is no business of yours what I do with my side of the room'', he ended up spitting out in the end, the breach into what he felt was his territory being the thing that broke the damn, though he would have probably done something stupid either way. ''I will keep my things wherever I want, and as long as they do not enter into your space, you have no say as to where they go'', he continued to speak, no sings of his frown doing anything but growing deeper anywhere in sight. ''And if you're so bothered by the state of my side of the room, you are free to remove yourself from it'', he said, placing a clenched, strong hand against Tavish's chest and pushing. ''Right the fuck now'', he said, his voice cold and bitter as he glared at the man. ''And take your food with you.''

*bows deeply* This is getting ridiculous, but I must apologize again for the wait. I got sick again, and it certainly did not help me feeling slightly...overwhelmed. I should have still replied sooner though, for now the whole tone of this thing had changed because of the too long of a break -.- Ugh, just, I'm seriously sorry. I hope you can work with this. Also, I no longer want to break my promises, so the changes of the next reply being on time are just as great as it being late. Sorry OTL

To see William's bemused reaction to Tavish's hypotheses on sweets and spirits was something he thought would be something akin to his brother's reaction to his cuddling. Tavish expected a little more surprise from William and maybe some sputtering of some sort that would make him endearing.

He was wrong, of course. He'd become quite comfortable with the thought of William as a substitute of Finnegan here in this academy that he tends to forget about the rest of the warning Spirit and William told him before. As the boy grew unpredictably angry, Tavish remembered and mentally called himself a fool. He had grown complacent and careless. And he had seen William to be something he isn't.

The light atmosphere dissipated the moment William's mood turn sour without any forewarning. "I was only teasing--" Tavish tried before the other interrupted him to snap at him about what his business isn't. And then he was pushed. It was hard enough to hurt, but not to throw him out of the edge. Also, he'd held on to the edge so he didn't fall. The light, easy look in Tavish's face vanished.

If he didn't know anything about William, he'd be confused as all hell and probably he'd turn as angry too. However, he knows about this. This is the thorn that's grown from the seed he planted. The sapling's first thorn, so to speak. A thorn sharp enough to cut and aggravate. But it wasn't enough to make him retaliate. It's truly tempting, but he decided, no.

Biting his tongue in fear of growling a retort, Tavish stood and took the take-out he'd brought to William's side. He brought it over to his desk silently, all the while, ignoring the stares and the glare from the others in the room. He wanted to caress the spot that William hit because that had been a pretty strong shove, to tell the truth. He didn't, because he didn't want William to think that he'll be a pushover. Not so much anyway.

Is he worth it?

Tavish swallowed and pushed the thought away.

'No choice, right? I already said I'll try to change his mindset. His spirits will maul me if I back out now.' Was the quickest reply that came to mind. He knew it shouldn't be the thought that's supposed to supplement the question, but at the moment, he's short on faith in William and himself. It's difficult to trust yourself to change somebody when they're pushing you away.

Despite all that, Tavish will admit, the tactic had been a little too straightforward. Obviously, it's not going to work. Maybe not yet. Right now, Tavish had to be insidious and discreet.

"Sorry if I nag about your cleanliness. It's not like I'm your mother or anything," he muttered sulkily as he sat down on his desk. He moved his chair so he was pointedly facing away from William and pulled out his notes and some books from his bag. "I'm nothing but only your roommate after all. Not like I'm someone who could easily push people around into doing something they don't want to."

Well, if you should know, I'm on an unpredictable schedule myself. What with the storm ravaging the country some days ago and an alarming increase of projects, presentations and other requirements popping out of the blue. So I'd like to think we're on equal grounds. I am actually quite glad that I have time today, seeing that I haven't made you wait days for a reply (yet). Anyways, don't trouble yourself with apologizing too much. I know life's hard as much as writing is. Or rather, much more than writing is. XD
