Tril snickered quietly to themself. Katie wasnt good at hiding her fear. It would have made for a pretty funny bit of mischief too- just drag her out here and then leave her all alone.

But that wasnt what they were there for. They were there to have fun and show this very human girl that there are better things than books. So instead of playing a really cruel joke they looked around carefully for something.

"You dont like the lake? Oh. You think it is boring." They whispered and then suddenly dove into the ground with their hands cupped in front of them. Then they turned to grin as they got back to their feet and deposited a small mouse on Katie's shoulder.

Without warning, Tril vanished. And she left Katie alone by the lake. "T.. Tril?!" she called out, clearly spooked. Tril wouldn't have just abandoned her out here, right? She didn't even know how to get back to the dorms!

Katie was so distracted by her own thoughts she didn't even see Tril return. However, she soon became aware that there was something on her. After debating for a moment if it was better to know what it was, or to leave it, she cast a hesitant glance to her shoulder, and made immediate eye-contact with a mouse.

Letting out a loud shriek, she immediately tried to brush the mouse off. This only made it scurry over her body, causing her to frantically try to swat it off, all whilst yelling"EW! EW! GET IT OFF GET IT OFF!"

Tril hadnt really vanished, though in the limited light it was probably hard to see and they were always very quiet when moving.

But when they rejoined Katie only to find their game had caused.... unexpected results, they immediately shifted to being a young girl with long back hair, black dress and big watery blue eyes.

"Stop. Stop. Katie, it's just a mouse!" They whispered frantically before just reaching out to hold her still while they located the creature. "I can grab it."

Katie completely ignored Trils voice, she was completely focused on trying to get the mouse off of her. Finally, it fell to the ground and ran off towards the woods. Finally, Katie took a moment to collect herself, despite the fact that she probably looked like a mess at this point.

Finally, she spotted Tril, though she didn't recognize them in their new form. "Oh.. ummm.. Hello." Katie eventually said hesitantly, unsure of who this new stranger was.

Tril turned and watched the little harmless mouse scamper off. What a waste. So much for what they had thought might be a nice gift or at least a funny moment. Well, it was kind of a funny moment seeing Katie lose her mind over something as simple as a mouse. But this human probably would be upset now and that usually meant the end of fun for the night.

They turned back and shook their head a little, casting a few strands of their long black hair over their face and then clasping their hands in front of themself. "Katie, i'm still Tril. I didn't go anywhere. Maybe it was a bad idea to bring you here."

Tril let out a hissing, dejected sigh. "I can walk you back to the dorm."

Relief washed over Katie as the girl spoke, she definitely recognized Trils voice, and Tril had shape-shifted in the past, so it all made sense in way. "Tril! Omigosh where were you? Are you okay?" She asked, since she didn't know where Tril had disagreed to, but they were back and seemed ok.

The moment Tril mentioned going back to the dorms, Katie visibly deflated. They'd been having fun exploring, but now Tril wanted to end it? "Oh.. I'm fine. I just got startled. I'm fine, really!" she said, letting out a nervous chuckle, while also trying to reassure Tril that she was fine.

"If.. if you want to stop, that's fine. But can we at least be friends?" Katie asked, a bit dejected at the prospect of their adventure ending.

Tril stepped forward and poked her in the shoulder. "I didn't go anywhere. I just caught a little mouse to give to you so we would not be bored. I did not know you would do this," they quietly whispered before hopping back and flailing around in an over-dramatized version of what Katie had actually done. Just less actual shrieking because Tril was not capable of making that sound or being that loud.

"I don't want to stop but I am not stupid. I can tell that I might make you unhappy if I push you to stay too long. I think we can be friends... but I don't know how friends work here. You are not a fog demon and you can not do normal fog demon things."

Katie cracked a small smile at Trils "re-enactment" of what had happened, if nothing else it did serve to help lighten the mood. Only for Tril to speak again, and put new damper on everything."What? Nonono, you don't make me unhappy! In fact this has been really fun!" Katie said, trying to reassure her new friend

"Well, uh, I'm.. not.. But I can do other stuff!" Katie said, sure she wasn't a "fog demon" as Tril called it, but there was probably stuff Katie could do that Tril couldn't and vice versa. After all no one can do everything, right?

Tril absentmindedly shifted back to their 'normal' form, though copying Katie's clothes just because. And grinned widely. Almost unsettlingly so. "Good. Too many people do not like me already. They're dumb."

The demon clicked their claws together and then shrugged though. "What kind of stuff can you do then? Anything fun?" They trained their wide, solid black eyes on her while they waited to see if the girl could figure out something fun she was capable of doing.

"Well, I can heal myself, and others!" Katie said, proudly. Given the only things she'd seen Tril do was disappear and change their appearance at will, she figured that she had come up with something that Tril couldn't do.

"Oh! And I have some other powers.. But, they only work in another dimension." Katie was less excited to share that one, since she really couldn't use "magic girl" powers, outside of Gray Ghosts world.
