Private Finished A Real Page Turner

Tril looked between the arguing werewolves and the... now hiding Katie. And snickered quietly to themself. "Like I said. We act scary and just walk right by them." They grinned with delight and slowly walked the two of them right around the side of one of the werewolves to get to the front door. One of them glanced at Tril but the currently hulking demon simply clenched their fists with an audible creaking grinding noise and glared back. The werewolf nodded and just continued the very loud conversation with their companion.

"See- taking faces is not just about the fun new colors or shapes," they whispered and reached back to loop an arm around the scared girl and gently but forcefully guide her back out next to Tril as they stepped inside. Once in the building though it became apparent that this wasn't some kind of dangerous club or biker bar. It in fact just looked like a slightly darker themed diner. Complete with a large lizardperson couple eating pancakes and a slab of some kind of meat, what had to be several vampires drinking true bloody marys, and a gaggle of goblins with apparently a multiple tiered array of doughnuts.

The Break Fast was in fact a breakfast joint for the less human-appearing residents of the island.

Tril paused for Katie to really take in the sights.

Tril couldn't help it, Katie's reactions to all this were priceless. Way worth bringing her to this place for sure. And it was harmless too! Like watching a scary movie, but in real life and not alone for a change.

They put an oversized hand on Katie's shoulder to guide her to a booth, and also to keep her from bouncing around and upsetting people. "Yes, we can have pancakes," they snickered quietly. "Just don't be too loud or they might get mad and throw us out. Tril never had to worry about that- though typically they did come there alone anyways.

The bench seat on Tril's side slid out away from the table some, giving them room to sit- Katie surely wouldn't have an issue though on her side. "Did you think I was going to take you somewhere you might get hurt? I am not stupid enough to do that."

Tril grinned wide. "It was supposed to seem scary. But the dark windows are for people who don't like the sun. Like me. Just think if you had to have a big headache while trying to eat your pancakes. That ruins things. So we have special fun places to eat."

While they spoke Tril set about systematically rearranging the various spices and condiments left on a rack at the edge of the table. The salt shaker though, they just straight up chucked behind them into an empty booth. The slight clattering sound was mostly covered by the ambient noise in the room.

"Why do you like pancakes so much? I thought maybe you would explode when you asked about them."

Tril paused. Just really stared at Katie with an amused and slightly baffled expression on their face. Did she... wow, she was so gullible. Tril had noted that before but... wow. This was extreme even for a human.

"Hey!," they whispered quickly. "Look at me. It was a joke. You were so excited that... nevermind. I don't think you will actually explode. You would have told me that you could do that."

And for good measure they flicked a couple packets of sweetener at her to distract her from explosive thoughts.

Tril snickered quietly but seemingly happily as they began their short battle of sweetener-based siege warfare, flinging the packets back and forth with reckless abandon.

Right up until the waitress approached their table with a slight whooshing sound. She wasn't moving fast or breathing heavily though, it was more that she seemed to only be somewhat corporeal. A dark mass of cloudy shapes with two red gleams for eyes filling out the vaguely female humanoid shape floating before them.

"If you two are done making a mess...," the breathy whisper of a voice poured out from the specter to chide them for being so childish. Tril shrugged and grinned back without remorse. "Let her order first. I think she might- ... she's very excited." They opted to avoid the exaggeration this time to save on another bout of Katie confusion.
