A Nonstop Nightmare

Adelina just sat there, not moving an inch. Eyes eventually closed, and she didn't see Andrew hit Sidaj so she would go unconscious. However, it seemed that her powers knew, and the spikes and streams stopped.

"Addie, we've got to go. Now."

The woman barely heard those words. She realized it was Andrew, though, and used his hand to pull herself up. Had she not been moving and breathing, she would have looked just as lifeless as her son.

Adelina's gaze went to the floor and she was silent, not planning on saying anything.

When her head was turned up, Adelina's brown eyes simply turned downward. She knew that he wanted her to look at him, but she didn't want to. Sighing softly, she slowly turned her eyes to him, but she didn't have the heart right now to look him in the eye. Not after what she had done.

Adelina stared at him angrily. "Right. It's not my fault when it was MY sword that killed him and I was the one wielding it," she said. Her voice sounded serious, though she was obviously being sarcastic.

"You would have never purposefully hurt Alex."

"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!" Adelina exclaimed, throwing her arms into the air. Tears started falling again and her shoulders shook. "It was an accident... but I caused it... even if I never would have purposefully did it, I did it anyway! Nothing can take it back..."

She clung to her husband and buried her head in his shoulder, crying harder. She still felt dead inside, and it was doubtful that it would heal.

Adelina ignored the rain. It was, indeed, fitting, but she hadn't really noticed it. Mourning the son that she had killed was all that mattered to her right now. She was getting soaked, but that mattered little as well. A little rain was trivial compared to this.

"I'm sorry..." she said softly.
