Saturday was more than a little surprised when a person made of fire came and opened the door. He blinked at Candle, but his surprise wasn't all that evident from his expression. Had he come to the wrong house? Saturday glanced at the house number. No, this was the right one. Saturday could also hear familiar voices from further back. Even Toto on Saturday's shoulder was staring at Candle with surprise. Or more likely he was staring at the blue parrot on Candle's shoulder. Toto didn't meet many other birds, although Toto himself wasn't actually a bird but an angelic spirit.

"O-oh, yes, forgive my lateness."
Saturday answered with formal speech mirroring Candle's own, having been a bit distracted by Candle's appearance. Was that a maid uniform?
Saturday stepped in, slightly hesitantly, and walked over to where the others were. As always Saturday felt clumsy and bit awkward in big company, and as he entered the room he felt like he was gathering too much attention. But Saturday kept a straight face, even tried to smile a bit. Ganymede continued to confuse him a bit like Candle and Garry had. Who was this again?
"Oh, no need to get up for me, please."
Saturday said at the young...boy? Child?
"Hello everyone. I'm sorry I'm late, um, last minute customer. I came as fast as I could. Oh, here. Thank you for this party, Monday."
Saturday fumbled a bit with the bag, and walked over to Monday, handing him the wine and cheeses. Saturday felt silly, this was what he was supposed to give him, right? Right?!
Toto was unusually quiet, even he got shy in a large group, and he flew off of Saturday's shoulder and perched on top of a nearby shelf.

"Oh. I um...I see..."

Wednesday wasn't exactly as in tune with current events as many people other people on the island were, but she had heard about the NEK0 trading post and the many young cat people recovered. She felt distinctly awkward now that she recognised Ganymede as one, fearing having just stumbled into a topic neither of them were really prepared to discuss. His own visible discomfort only served to reinforce that.

"...Well, um, I know Monday can be kind of silly at times, but I'm sure he's doing his best to look after you." She rubbed her arm again. "For what its worth, I hope you'll be happy here."

There was another awkward pause, Wednesday herself unsure of what else to say, so she was quite thankful to be interrupted by Saturday's arrival. She smiled and waved over to her housemate.

"There you are! I was wondering when you'd get here."

Wednesday gestured to a seat close by to her. She'd been living with the older witch for long enough by now that she could guess that he was probably feeling a little uncomfortable as well. She figured sticking close to someone familiar might benefit him as much as it would herself.

"You finally made it! Welcome!" Monday exclaimed as he stood to greet Saturday. "Let me do a few quick introductions," he stated as he accepted the wine and cheese gift from him noting the rather confused look on his friend´s face.

"You already know Tuesday and Wednesday," here he smiled warmly at the women, "and of course, my bird, Garry," Monday added with a laugh when the bird made himself known again by letting out a small don't-forget-me type squawk.

"This here is Candle," Monday said as he nodded toward the firey woman who had opened the door for him. "She's my live-in assistant, and over there by Wednesday is Ganymede," he explained, "my, uh,.." and here was the clincher, Monday was afraid to publicly claim Ganymede. His conversation with Tuesday reminded him of that as his gaze strayed to Wednesday who had also been adopted and was now a recipient of her adoptive family's curse.

"Ganymede will be staying with me, hopefully, permanently, " Monday decided, knowing he´d have to explain to Ganymede later the full intricacies of the coven's curses.

Saturday did feel slightly less awkward, when he saw Wednesday. She was who Saturday had become most comfortable with after Toto, and he sent the girl a small smile that was more effortless than the nervous, tight one he had greeted Monday with.

"Yes, of course."
Saturday said with a nod at Monday's first introductions, of course he knew Tuesday and Wednesday. He had met the other many times and lived with Wednesday. Though Saturday hadn't met Garry even once. Saturday gave the bird a small nod, not entirely sure if Garry was sentient or just a simple parrot. Toto, on the other hand, was peering at Garry with slightly squinted eyes, and when Garry let out a squawk Toto let out one too, as if so he didn't lose to Garry. Saturday sent a warning glance over at Toto and the bird muttered something with an annoyed voice. Saturday didn't quite hear what.

Now they got to the people Saturday really didn't know, and as Candle and Ganymede were introduced Saturday nodded at both.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Saturday. And over there sulking is my familiar, Toto."
Saturday nodded over at Toto, who narrowed his eyes at Saturday and flew over on his shoulder and tugged firmly on one dreadlock.
"I'm not sulking!"
Saturday sighed a bit with a small smile on his face and patted Toto on the head with one finger. Toto bapped it away and remained sitting on Saturday's shoulder, looking less sulky now.

Saturday instantly realized why Monday was so hesitant to say outloud exactly what Ganymede was to him. Saturday was aware that someone who is adopted or marries into the family carries the curse as well, that was what happened to Saturday's mother. And all just for taking the Reid name. Saturday nodded slowly, and sent a small smile at Ganymede, trying to look as friendly and gentle as he could in this anxious state of his.

"So, uh, I have a small gift for each of you. I made them on my free time. Unfortunately I wasn't prepared for two extra people, so I will give Ganymede and Candle theirs slightly later."
Saturday explained bit nervously and lifted the bag he was carrying. Inside there were three boxes, and Saturday gave Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each one. Inside they'd find wristwatches, and the moment they touched the clock it would change to a colour and design the person touching in preferred. Just a small spell Saturday had made for this occasion.
"They are just ordinary clocks, but they're waterproof and fireproof and shouldn't malfunction or stop working for few centuries or so. If they do please bring them to me, I will fix them."

Tuesday nodded at Saturday in further greeting but otherwise had sat back for a moment to let the others finish the introductions.

She really hadn't expected a gift that night so Saturday's offer was met with a surprised expression that turned into a pleased smile. "Thank you Saturday, maybe I should make you a candle in return," she thanked him warmly and then opened the box to pick up her watch.

It didnt shift to be anything too extreme looking really. Just a simple black background with bright red accents for the hour marks and hands.

"Actually that reminds me, all of you can get a discount on scented candles- magic or not- through me. Just let me know what you want." For lack of a better term, a family and friends discount. Or, she supposed, maybe not family. No need to accidentally transfer any curses.

As Monday tried to explain how they were related to each other, he seemed to sort of trail off. Ganymede thought that was strange. Maybe he just forgot the words for it? But it was new to him that he would get to stay here permanently. He thought it would just be temporary, and that it might change a few times - that's what the social worker had said. This was great news.

The conversation had moved on, and Ganymede learned Saturday was going to make him a gift! That earned Saturday a big smile.

But Ganymede had to go back and revisit that earlier point. Maybe because he was proud of his status, or maybe because he was scared someone would think he was a servant again. Maybe a bit of both: "Monday's my foster father," he said it so everyone could hear, beaming.

"Wow, thank you, Saturday," Monday said as he accepted Saturday's gift. It was very unexpected and he was touched. Anything crafted or handmade by another always got top marks in his books. Those sort of gifts were extra special in a way to him. It meant the person had been thinking of you when they made them.

When Tuesday said she had candles they could buy at a discount, Monday was immediately interested. "Actually, I might take you up on that offer," Monday said to her. There were a few old candle holders and antique lanterns that would look great with candles in them - something a customer had suggested actually.

Hearing Toto squawk, Garry flapped his wings on Candle's shoulder. "Toto!" he squawked back. "Toto sulky..." he added as he flew off of Candle's shoulder to sit on Monday's next to Saturday's familiar.

... As Monday was chatting with Tuesday, he froze when he heard Ganymede say he was his foster son. Part of him was elated that Gany thought that, and part of him was immediately afraid that somehow the curse would latch onto him now as irrational as that was.

Glancing warily at the other witches then, knowing they'd understand his dilemma, Monday couldn't help but hide his fear from Gany as he looked at him, smiled and nodded in agreement.

"Gany Monday's son," Garry then squawked happily before Monday could even reply. "Gany Garry's friend too" he squawked peering at Toto challengingly.

Wednesday was just as surprised as the other witches when Saturday presented his gifts. She didn't know he'd been working on them, despite the fact they lived together. She accepted the gift graciously, wrapping it around her wrist while the clock face shifted into a simple black and green art nouveau design.

"Thanks, Saturday. I'll need to think of something to pay you back with eventually." She smiled, happy with the gift. Wednesday thought it unfortunate that artificing was one of her weak points, it made preparing presents like this difficult. Plus, being a student meant she didn't have any businesses the others could benefit from. Maybe she could ask Sunday for some crafting pointers...

After Ganymede declared his relationship to Monday, she looked over and met Monday's gaze. The way he reacted answered the question of how much he had explained to the boy for her, and she found herself frowning to herself once Ganymede was looking away. She didn't voice her concerns though. Again, how Monday chose to handle that was his own business.

Instead, she decided to direct a smile to the boy.

"Well, I don't know how much Monday has told you about our coven, Ganymede, but we all look out for each other. And since he's taken you in, that includes you too. So if you ever need anything from any of us, don't hesitate to ask, ok?"

Tuesday nodded and smiled at Monday as he seemed to be interested in purchasing candles. "Of course, we can talk about what you'd like at some point. We have quite the selection."

Then Ganymede had spoken up and it sent chills down Tuesday's spine. She was about to speak up when she heard Garry's squawk- that was far too dangerous. Monday hadn't officially adopted the child, but there was some power in those words. Sometimes if you said something enough it became true.

If no one was going to jump in and correct this she'd have to. And she was supposedly the irresponsible one... "That's really sweet and I'm glad Monday here has opted to take care of you temporarily Ganymede. Wednesday is right that we look out for our own. But Garry, those words are very dangerous for us," she said with a hint of worry in her voice.

The uneasy pause of the conversation wasnt helping, even though Wednesday seemed to be trying to smooth things over with the catboy. Better her than Tuesday, curse and all.

Saturday was glad everyone seemed to like their gifts, and even Ganymede looked delighted he was going to receive a gift later on. Saturday tried sending the child a small smile back, barely succeeding.
"It's a relief you like them. Please tell me if you want me to make modifications. Like add a date counter or such."
Saturday rubbed his neck a bit, making clocks and magic were about all the things he was good at. So he took pride in it and wanted to do well.

There was a collective, short moment of silence in the room when Ganymede proclaimed he was Monday's foster child. Even Toto went quiet, ignoring Garry who had flown much closer now. Ganymede said it with such a happy smile and proud voice, that Saturday regretted he couldn't smile along. He was too scared for this child, for what would happen if he came too close to Monday. Saturday had spent a long time avoiding situations like these, had taken care that no one got close enough. Because he had seen from the front seat the horrors this curse caused, and he was pretty sure the other witches had similar experiences.

Saturday, along with others, looked at Monday briefly. His heart went to the man, he was going to go through uncertain times. Saturday wished he could so something for him, but all he and everyone else in the coven could do was get rid of these curses of theirs. And Saturday knew Monday would do everything in his power to protect Ganymede.
The rest of the group directed much better words at Ganymede, and thus Saturday went to sit next to Wednesday. But not before touching a hand on Monday's arm and sending a reassuring look at him, one that spoke volumes.

Saturday sat down, Wednesday now between him and Ganymede, and Saturday wished he wasn't too scary looking. Children tended to be scared of Saturday, he was big and looked intimidating. Hopefully Wednesday acted as a kind of wall or buffer and made sure Saturday wasn't as threatening.
