Appearance Description
Appearance Description
Klaus is a tall, lean, sleek man- all pointed edges, wrapped up in a red and black color scheme. He has sharp features, and a crooked grin full of jagged teeth. His two favorite accessories are roses and sunglasses. Heart shaped are a favorite for the latter, along with his classic, angular pair that he wears the most often. He stands out, and is clearly… uh, unique, if you will.
Under the sunglasses (which he insists upon wearing indoors, and at night, for no real purpose according to him past 'being cool'), are pure black eyes with catlike, red irises. Spooky. His eyes can be pretty intense, so it's actually benevolent of him to almost always keep the sunglasses on, intent being that or not. He also has a lot of cute eyelashes, on his lower eyelids especially, shh.
He has a bit of a hooked nose, thinner lips, and very visible collarbones (among other things). His eyebrows could be described as aggressive. His skin is a warm brown. He's pretty damn towering in height at six feet seven inches, and his body type is very gaunt and lanky. He's that guy who has stabby elbows and knees, watch out (except, somehow, he's great at cuddling when he puts his mind to it?).
Klaus actually has a very youthful, extremely pretty face. When he's not dressed up, in full intimidating crimelord persona, and showing off his demon features, he can be mistaken for being a lot younger- and his crude personality can come as a shock. He can be rather irritable over this. He mainly embraces these natural looks when going to celebrity parties with his mother, far from Manta Carlos and unrecognizable at first glance to those who know him for his usual self. Sometimes he uses them to get away with walking around casually in public places.
Klaus' hair is on the thinner, finer side in texture, sometimes even a bit stiff leaning, and around chin length/just a little longer. It's pretty straight, and he never has to worry much about bedheads or styling his hair. It does get in an oily state far easier (but that also gives an extra natural shine), though, which can be annoying. It matches his eyes and general color scheme in its inky black color.
Klaus' regular kingpin outfits consist of long, sweeping coats (because they're fun and amusingly dramatic), expensive, well fitting clothes, and dark colors with a splash of red (on special occasions, he adds gold). He almost always wears gloves and boots. His casualwear can vary a lot more, often including rosy patterns, cuter things, and anything comfortable. He knows exactly how to dress like an absolute douchebag, and will do so strategically to piss people off or have them assume too much about him.
Being a demon, he has simple, knife-edged (don't land on top of them) black horns and a wiry, often flicking about tail. There's also the shark teeth, and the fact that he has the slightest of a forked, thinner tongue (he's extra hissy when tired/out of it). He's really fairly humanoid, and this is the only form he has.
Klaus is very expressive and confident in posture and behavior, fast and light on his feet as well as powerful. He switches between mellow and overly quick to snap at things a bit too smoothly. He's seen as very attractive, sometimes a bit uncomfortably so for those who dislike what he does, or effects of his powers- and his allure is both in his looks and the things he offers.
Klaus' voice is crackling mix of smooth and sharp, casual and articulate, rough and soft. And once again, he switches between the different extremes all too easily. It kinda freaks people out. He's okay with that.
Klaus smells strongly of roses and indulgence. Those that he chooses to drench with his greed magic, and especially those who embrace that (then, it'll sink in rather than fade with time), often end up the same- and marked as his in the process.
Personality Description
Klaus is very friendly and extroverted, he adores people, being around them, hoarding them and spoiling them. He's passionate about most things. If he likes you, he's going to like you a lot, and say so to your face- he's very straightforward and bold in general, no matter who or what you are.
He's a huge dork, too, really. Saying and doing whatever comes to mind doesn't help here. He likes silly things and is easily entertained, will laugh at and make terrible jokes. He tends to chatter. He thinks he's cool. The coolest. No, seriously, he does.
Klaus has a habit of telling others he wants to (and will, he'll do it, no matter how illegal or unconventional) adopt/have/etc them. It's ridiculous. If you're one of his demon family members, call him the best brother- he'll probably tear up, then spoil you forever. It's that easy. If you're close to him, he'll praise you nonstop, listen to everything you talk about, learn all about your favorite things, and be intensely protective. 'Cause you're his now. He's very easy to fall in love with, despite all of his questionable aspects.
Klaus is a lot smarter than some may initially assume- a huge mistake on their part. He isn't where he is for nothing, and has a very bright and manic intelligence to him. He's very good at figuring out and manipulating people, in both beneficial and negative ways. Improvisation and adjusting to a situation or person in the moment is one of his best skills, winning others over even if they find themselves originally disliking him. Sometimes he even outright plays with his outward persona and other's perceptions of him.
Klaus has a mean, antagonistic streak. Even if you're close to him he might tease a bit, but never with true intent to cause long term harm, and he's just not as casually malicious as some of his siblings. He's snarky, and people are just so easy to poke, all too obvious, that it's horribly tempting. Klaus isn't good with temptation. He doesn't think of that as a negative thing, because he knows he deserves anything and everything. His first impulse is almost always followed.
Klaus is greed, selfish want, incarnate. He does nothing without indulgent self interest, one way or another, in mind. He has very little sense of morality or standards past 'will it be inconvenient' and 'this is/isn't fun'. He's rather crude and inappropriate. His small set of things he isn't fond of is harming young children (those under sixteen), sexual assault, and discrimination.
He's more than capable of genuinely loving others and caring about their happiness, but it depends on them sharing their happiness with him, not rejecting, not ceasing to be close to him (this isn't something that could be achieved accidentally/spontaneously, so don't get too worried right away)- because if it doesn't involve him, what the fuck is the point?
Unless it's for something petty, it's pretty much impossible for Klaus to hate or dislike someone- not until they betray/reject him, or hurt one of his possessions. And at that point, watch out, because he'll go straight to murder. You could attempt to apologize and say you'll never do it again, but he won't give too many second chances, won't put up with bullshit for long, so be careful. Pick your battles.
Even if someone he previously cared about turned on him, he wouldn't hesitate to then kill them. He despises not being able to have something, above all else in the world. It's the ultimate way to piss him off, and after that? He'll just want to get you out of his sight and mind. He won't regret it or despair, not even a little bit. He'll only be angry over how you made him do this, how dare you, you could've had it all so easily.
There are two big categories in Klaus' world, possessions and annoyances. He adores and protects his property, spoils it to ridiculous amount (especially if it's a person), and obsesses over it. Annoyances, he typically has no mercy with. And then there are things that don't even register, don't matter, so he hardly pays attention to them. There is a shaky grey area in between possessions and annoyances, but it usually leans more towards fondness in the end.
Klaus has his ego, but not to an extent that it keeps him from being able to get dirty, and really involved in things. He's not above that in the slightest. Really, his pride is just about impossible to damage, as he can't feel much personal shame or fear. He can feel outrage, and registers threats, but has nothing in his mentality that would truly place him as lower on the food chain.
Do not get close to Klaus and then try to cut all contact with him unless you want hell. He won't go easy on you, and he won't stop until you stop. If you can't be killed, he'll trap you, turn to intense magical methods, or ruin your life in any way possible.
As greed, Klaus will never be fully satisfied, never be able to settle and stop moving. This is sometimes a very frustrating life to lead.
He will never stop wanting.
Powers/Species traits
Royal Demon
Royal Demon
Klaus is immortal, in the sense that he can temporarily be killed (through full destruction of his body), but will regenerate in Hell. He can come back in as little time as an hour, then at most, a couple of weeks, or even a month.
In addition to immortality, he has the general boosted strength, speed, senses, and some very mild initial pain resistance.
Being the child of one of the seven princes of Hell, Klaus gives off the magical energy of demon royalty, a bit overwhelming to some, very pleasant to others. This is simply an aura description.
Klaus has the ability to harden his body into a black, metallic state- but this takes up a lot of energy very quickly, so the most he does is usually turning his hands into claws, and having thick (but only outer) armor-like coating go up to his elbows. This is very tough, but not impossible to damage.
As a somewhat christianity based demon, Klaus does have a slight weakness to holy water, holy places/objects, and exorcisms (in order of least to most annoying), among other similar such things, but they usually only serve as a temporary solution, and will make him ten times more pissed off, just like killing him.
Son of Greed
Attention stealer
Attention stealer
Passive aura, which can only be turned off through conscious effort. He only cares about stopping it when he needs to be sneaky- as he's certainly not otherwise against being flashy, and muffling it exhausts him to no end.
Along with just being very noticeable, Klaus will often immediately steal away any casual attention already occurring, as well as any attention offered to those of quieter and less extravagant existence than him.
The attention received doesn't necessarily have to be positive, not in the slightest, simply relevant.
Comfort in addiction
Passive ability. Klaus will not have any negative side effects from substance abuse, overindulging (sexually included), etc. (Nothing negative that doesn't originate from his own personality, that is.)
Everything belongs to me
Has both passive and active states, strongest ability.
Things both sentient and otherwise will be inexplicably drawn to the idea of being possessed by Klaus, belonging to him, and having everyone know they're his.
It isn't always something that would demand be acted upon, especially not for those with stronger mental barriers, but it's very much there, and noticeable.
It's also often rather unsettling to those more aware of it and the self objectification. No matter how warm and fuzzy the idea seems when it settles down in you, as well as all too thick and rich. Sometimes people and objects simply show up near Klaus, no real encouragement from him even needed, and his reaction is basically 'haha, nice.'
For objects showing up it's more focused on relevant objects, usually with some magical leaning even if not completely sentient, having a kind of pull to him- especially if they were left by someone else/unattended. It's not as though they grow legs and run up, but something might be not-so-innocently nearby or on his doorstep.
Additionally for passive aura around objects, people would be way less likely to bat an eye at Klaus simply picking something random up and taking it, because that sense of deserving is there.
Objects heavy with sentimental value can't be immediately gotten to with this, aside from what would be considered a bit of magical dust on the surface. People who already have a lot of meaning and satisfaction in their life and relationships won't be immune, but are far, far more likely to get that distinct sick, violated feeling along with the desire.
As an active power, Klaus can focus things to make it seem like he already owns, or very much has a right to own something in particular. Make the feeling and passion of it bleed into everything, start to change the world around him with his want.
Past leaving his trace on objects/people (a bit of a magical mark if you will, almost making things smell like him in a way, which is show/pride based), this is mostly a mental thing.
One has to be within close distance to Klaus to be affected by this ability at all, and Klaus has to focus/use up energy when using the more specific, active side of this power. The smartest way to use this and not exhaust himself is to either force his impression of ownership on one bigger/more important thing, or multiple smaller/less relevant things.
Small, casual objects that already belong to others would still be the easiest to deal with in terms of stealing things away. Then something bigger would end up far more difficult, and should be used with really relevant people only (not caring about pretending to be legal about anything goes a long way in not overusing powers like this, can't lie). If he wanted to 'own' a bigger thing like an important building, organization, something with intense sentimental value, etc- there'd have to be some longer term effort put in for sure. Passion as well as energy required.
How long the impression of something other than them (an object or another person) belonging to Klaus lasts with others depends on energy use and passion, but does wear off if he doesn't keep showing up to reestablish the claim, even if that only means lurking around a little and letting his magical signature sink back into everything.
Unless you genuinely, from your own being, start to want to belong to him after the idea is presented, then that'll mostly wear off with the lack of his presence and just leave an icky feeling behind.
How quickly or not things wear off in people basically depends on mental strength, if one has a stronger or weaker personality/confidence levels/life satisfaction, if they want to be his, and whether they've been recently in the presence of him or something with his magical signature or not.
How the concept of belonging manifests can slightly depend on the individual's unique thought processes, as well, but whatever it is it'll usually start strong.
Even if someone has the protection to keep out this power, that gross feeling, that lingering want, is always going to be in the air.
Biography
Klaus was born to Mammon, prince of hell and greed incarnate, and a superstar celebrity by the name of Nerea Rosales (who's still active and in fame today). She was ambitious, beautiful, fun, unafraid to put things bluntly, and Greed was smitten. The way they met and interacted was really rather romcom esque, and stayed that way.
Out of all the princes, Greed was always the most interested in casually screwing around with mortals, as well as genuinely liking them (even if in an objectifying fashion). Nerea was human, but damn if she didn't have that spark. If you were to ask Greed about it, he would say 'she was cute', and what more reason do you need to have a kid with someone?
Klaus' childhood was a more than enviable experience. Most of his time was spent with his mother, often being brought along on film sets and her constant vacations to exotic locations. Sometimes his dad would come along, too, because what good is a trophy wife and child if you aren't seen with them? Sometimes, Klaus' dad wouldn't be around for months on end, but when he came back (and he always came back) he'd give Klaus no end of gifts and attention.
One of Klaus' favorite gifts was, ridiculously enough, a pair of sunglasses his dad had been wearing. Greed took them off, gave them to Klaus, telling him they were cool and looked good on him. It stuck, and Klaus still has the original pair (along with about a million others).
From his mother, Klaus received his flowers, as she always had a distinct rose motif in her aesthetic. It was something that helped her receive fame and fortune, and as well as being charming to keep in the family, she thought it might bring Klaus his own luck. And so Rosales wore roses.
When Klaus was around ten and growing into his demon features/abilities, Mammon took him to visit hell for the first time. Klaus was a bit of a late bloomer in terms of his demonic side, but he learned incredibly quickly, adapting to it like a fish to water. He was a natural. In hell he learned a great deal of the other side of his heritage. One part Spanish, son of a celebrity, the other, literal demonic royalty. What a matchup.
He also met a lot of his greed siblings, immediately trying to befriend them all in the most aggressive ways possible. They were tight knit, but bickered a great deal, and Klaus was extremely excited to have a whole new world of family opened up. Klaus loved family.
Klaus started to get up to a lot of bad shit after that, especially after he found he'd developed an immunity to being permanently harmed. He experimented, tried everything once. Drugs, crime, sex. He started many relationships, and also discovered he really, really didn't like it when people tried to leave or reject him. That had never happened in his life, and the sense of entitlement, shock, and greed led him to often be overtaken with anger. Those that did stay with him he rewarded greatly, and kept rewarding. The others were dead.
Klaus never had a formal education, as he had zero respect for authority, and all too impulse based focus. He was taught loosely by his parents, but mostly by himself and his talent at worming his way into everything. He was confident that if he didn't know something, he could just go learn it, and not worry too much about preparing beforehand (and as an adult, he's very well read and experienced, so that worked out fine). By the time Klaus was settling down in Manta Carlos at eighteen, the only reason he would lurk around Starlight Academy was to sell kids shady things, or harass people for fun.
Manta Carlos was great, the perfect place for him to start truly start setting up something for himself, independent from his parents. And he did just that, mercilessly clawing himself up in the crime and wealth rankings, living the life, making a reputation. He's very comfortable now in the darker parts of the city and underground, here to stay, always wanting more.
Additional Information
Father is Mammon, the Hell prince ruling over greed. Mother is Nerea Rosales, an A-list celebrity who shows no sign of retiring. Part of the baby sins AKA Hellions set (which is always open to more, so please, go ahead and make Klaus lots of siblings to adopt)!
Klaus has so many things hoarded, and several secret vaults to stuff them all in. That's where the real treasures are. Shh. He loves money, art, books, magical artifacts and other novelties. He loves anything and everything he can get his hands on. Will not feel shame over bribing people to like him with gifts, money, and resources.
Klaus is a crimelord, big bad, boss of a bunch of stuff. He has a lot of people who work for him, usually pretty damn loyal (especially with his powers in play), either contacts or full on Rosales Gang members. His people, things, and ambitions are not to be screwed around with unless you're prepared for a lot of pushback.
Klaus is very personal about all of his work there, sitting in and directing most meetings and deals, both because it ensures things are done best- and because he loves being involved. He loves his life. He loves it all.
