Katharina "KC" Cronstrom grew up in the Narrow Reality with her huldra mother and wizard father. Her father used glamours to disguise their supernatural traits. They were aware of Manta Carlos but were firmly settled in their home and took great care to keep their true natures hidden. After graduating from high school she was accepted into a university on the other side of the state.
KC was hugely popular in college. She double majored in theater and dance and lived a normal life until she meet Mr. Duvall. After their first meeting, Mr. Duvall aggressively stalked KC, who went to great lengths to avoid him. When campus security did nothing (because of "lack of evidence of wrongdoing") she became a hermit within her school dorm. KC only left her dorm to attend class and never went anywhere alone.
For a time videogames and computers were her escape, but Mr. Duvall eventually found her there too. Two years into her college degree, KC quietly and suddenly transferred to a new school out of state. Mr. Duvall did not follow, but the paranoia he instilled in her did. After completing her degrees, KC took an aggressive approach to life and drifted around the country. She moved at random, took care not to leave paper trails, but no matter where she went she felt like someone was always a step behind. KC went to the only place Mr. Duvall could never follow: Manta Carlos.
Her experiences led her to the Scouts and KC undertook training. With the new Scout structure she went into the field investigation branch.
