He watched her sultry walk with appreciative eyes, then tore his gaze from her body and onto the sand before her, trying to get a grip on his racing heart.
"I can't even taste it anymore," Lochlann admitted. "I have no idea what's in here, only that if I drink enough of it, I can finally sleep at night."
When she laid back in the sand, Lochlann shifted so he was perpendicular to her. That way, he wasn't quite in her space, but he didn't have her back to her, either. He watched the waves roll in and out.
He took a sip of his flask.
"I'm sorry it hurts," Lochlann said. "I wish I could say it gets better, but I still see her face when I close my eyes at night."

He chewed on the inside of his cheek for a moment, and passed her the flask again.
"It sort of feels like the other person is dead sometimes, but I have to keep running into their ghost in the halls, and no one else knows what I've lost. Do you...do you feel that way, too, sometimes?"
