With a loud click, Edward opened the door to the gym, glancing around for anyone else in the room and, finding no one, walked inside. She tossed her gym bag on the floor by the side, rifling in it for hand pads and then deciding she didn't need them.

She was wearing a cut off t-shirt that ended higher up then she'd normally like, well-worn baggy gi pants adorning her legs. They were her sister's, and she'd had to change into the older girl's form to be able to wear them without them slipping off. She tied up her now-black hair into two short pigtails, taking a deep breath and dropping to the ground to stretch. "Echo?" She questioned curiously, black eyes flickering to the ceiling as her voice did just that. "It's so large.." She announced again, glancing around the room yet again in amazement.

Ed stood up, knowing she hadn't stretched enough but not really caring. She easily threw a roundhouse kick into the air, naming it silently as her sister had taught her to do, after it had become apparent that she'd forget them otherwise. Mawashi Geri. She was admittedly very fit, and in her sister's body it actually showed. She grinned down at the flat stomach that protruded from the short shirt, hopping up on one foot and firing a jumping kick - Tobi Mae Geri, she reminded herself - into nothingness.

Hiza Geri. Kansetsu Geri. Yoko Geri - a whole set of each, in fact. She paused, kneeling to get a water bottle out of her gym bag. She'd never had an actual gym to train in before - just the living room, with all the chairs pushed back and her older sister insisting she call her Sensei. She sighed, holding her arms above her in a yawn. And now, she was all alone in this school, with no annoying sister, no mother hovering over her shoulder.. Oh, she'd had no idea how much she'd miss them. Get back to work! Her sister's voice mentally scolded her, and she laughed softly, falling into a fighting stance and continuing her workout. At least she still had memories..

It only took a few more techniques before Edward became bored, ignoring the scolding voice of her sister and sitting down beside her small purple gym bag. What now.. She flipped off her short shirt that suddenly seemed too hot, feeling even more uncomfortable in the black sports bra that lurked beneath. Running? No, running was boring, especially if it was to nowhere as the white lines painted on the floor suggested. Punching a bag made her feel bad for it, and gave her bloody knuckles.

She sighed, flipping over onto her hands with a bit of difficulty, taking a few wobbly 'steps' before steadying herself and making her way over to the white lines racing around the room. She'd see how long it took her to walk a lap on her hands - and how many times she'd fall.

Not that the idea came out of nowhere. Ed was actually quite skilled at that sort of thing - at least, she liked to think she was. She felt herself falling and flipped over again, landing lightly on her feet and quickly reversing herself once more.

Aletia opened the big doors of the gym, and was amazed at how big the place was. She simply stood there, memories of the past entering her mind suddenly. She shook it off, her gaze soon falling on the girl who seemed to be doind a handstand, well, walking on her hands really. Aletia tilted her head, her brown, curly hair landing on her face.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

Bad move.

For the person had now fallen dew to the unexpected sound that penetrated her ears.

Edward's attention diverted by the unexpected noise, she crashed to the ground. A sigh, deep breath, and she begain again, taking only a few seconds to make her way over to where the girl stood and stop. "What does it look like?" She questioned, black eyes staring up at the girl from their position near the floor.

Ed didn't wait for an answer, flipping herself right side up and staring down at the girl. This was odd, being taller then.. Well, then anyone. She'd like to change back, but then she'd have to find something to use as a belt for her gi pants.. She pulled her shirt back on, tilting her head to mirror the girl's and grinning. "Walking on my hands. What are you doing?"

Aletia smiled softly. She didn't know why she came, she just wanted to see more of the academy.

"Wanting to train. I think my skills are getting rusty."

She hadn't known where that came from. Perhaps it just was because she was used to doing that sort of thing. Then she looked up to the older girl again.

"Why were you on your hands? And what are your powers? Just curious..." Aletia trailed off, wondering what her reply would be.

Ed bounced on the balls of her feet, throwing a front kick without thinking about it. "Skills as in kicking and punching? Or as in powers?" She paused, remembering the girl's questions and widening her eyes seriously. "I was walking on my hands because I need to practice that sort of thing. I'm getting rusty with my dancing." She grinned, not realizing that it someone else wouldn't understand.

"My powers? Control over shadows, and i can change myself to look like other people. I'm my sister right now." She changed her voice from the melodic purr of her sister to her rougher, childish voice, idly throwing another kick in the air and explaining. "See, my sister gave me all her old training clothes, but they don't fit me unless I'm her."

Silence. She fished around in her bag for a rope, tying it securely around the waist of the pants and changing back to her normal childish self, clothes instantly becoming baggy. "Ooh.. Now you're taller then me!" She announced happily, clapping her hands together in amusement. "What can you do?"

Aletia just shrugged.

"Perhaps I'm taller 'cause you're sitting down. I'm only 12. Oh, and I can control the Wind to do all sorts of stuff! Ooh, and I meant punches and kicks in the training sort of thing. Hey, wanna be friends?" Aletia asked. The girl seemed nice enough.

"I'm Aletia,"

Edward considered this for a few minutes, finally nodding slowly and standing up. "You do have a point." She was still looking up at her, but now not nearly as much. "You're still taller then me, though. It's ok. My sister says I’m a miniature human."

"I'm twelve too." Ed announced, not really finding anything exciting about the girl's announcement but bouncing up and down at the next. "You mean, karate? What style? I only know one. My sister says I’d be a junior black belt if i learned in a dojo.. She's a second Dan, you know. Teaches classes and things."

"I don't know. I never thought you could just decide to be someone's friend." She wrinkled up her nose, thinking for a moment. "What if you're really mean or something?" She paused, surveying the girl for a moment before shrugging. "But i think you're nice, so I’ll be your friend. I'm Edward Winters." She held out her hand for Aletia to shake, dull eyes staring at her curiously.

Aletia thought for a second. "I'm not really sure. Wind taught me, and I really not sure what style." Aletia sighed in a depressed way. Why did Wind teach her anyway.

Mysterious of the world. Number. 45: Wind's reasons to teach Aletia

"Anyway, what's it like to control shadows and stuff?" Aletia said, trying to make conversation with the other girl. Man, things just got more difficult each day.

"Wind? The element, or do you just know someone named that?" Ed questioned, walking the short distance to the punching bags and kicking one hesitantly.

"It's fun, I guess. I can make friends and things, when i want them."She grinned, suddenly turning serious as she remembered the other day. "Hey, have you ever committed suicide?"
