Headline: Highlights: These Adoptable Pets May Be Your Next Perfect Companion!


Story: The Manta Carlos Rescue Shelter on 4th and Basilisk Rd. has some new pets available for adoption. Each pet has had their necessary vaccines, physical checkups, and magical checkups.


Oogie Boogie: Oogie Boogie kind of looks like a scruffy jack russell but with the ears of a rabbit and unusually long, thin legs. He also has itty bitty horns, which just adds to this little guy’s charm! Oogie Boogie is extremely friendly, good with kids and other pets. If you’re looking for a small and cuddly new pal, you can’t go wrong with this unique boy!


Nei and Nez: These twin vampire bats are playful, friendly, and ready for a new home! These small bats make for great companions that can fit right in your hand or hang out on your shoulder. Two great pets as long as you aren’t squeamish about blood! As the two are very attached to each other, the shelter would prefer they be adopted together.


Bibi: Little Bibi is as cute as can be! She is a Cinnamon Bird; a mythological bird that originated from Arabia. While they were known to be large, Bibi seems to be a miniature version who will grow no larger than a sparrow. As the name would imply, Cinnamon Birds make their nest entirely of cinnamon, so throw a few cinnamon sticks into her cage and she will be a happy camper.


Shine: This black beauty may be a little high maintenance, but she will be well worth the effort! She is a beautiful horse carved from obsidian and brought to life. Shine requires a lot of space to run around, a large shelter, and a strict diet of gemstones.

Headline: Castle in the Clouds Spotted Over Manta Carlos

Story: There had been sightings of a cloud cluster off the coast of Manta Carlos that took the undeniable shape of a pristine castle. While the clouds were trending in social media, no one would have guessed that it was an actual castle made of clouds. The formation persisted for three days before an adventurous group of young adults flew to it and found that it had been inhabited by dozens of snow, water and wind fairies.

At the young adults' suggestion, the fairies flew their castle over the city, sprinkling snow in their wake. Many residents on the ground enjoyed watching the harmless display until a single piece of hail the size of a minivan fell into a resident's backyard pool, which heavily damaged it and causing a minor flood of the interior of the home.

The castle dispersed shortly thereafter, leaving the young adults to take full responsibility. The owner of the property reported the incident, but pressed no charges on the group nor the fairies, stating: "I was on the fence on expanding the pool for my grand kids. If anything, this was a sign to finally do it."

When pressed for details on the incidents, the group of young adults said that the piece of hail was caught in an updraft inside the castle, and unknown to them or the fairies at the time, it started growing from the cold temperature of high altitude until it became too heavy and fell.

Representatives of the cloud castle fairies later approached the homeowner and helped clean the house and swore to return when the pool was fixed to fill it back with water.

Headline: Father and Daughter Go Through Hell to Reunite

Story: It’s definitely a strange day for one college student at Starlight Academy. Theresa Jacobs, a freshman at Starlight Academy, had an unexpected surprise when her father showed up during her Demonology lecture last Thursday. The bigger surprise was the accidental summoning ritual that brought her father, a Sloth demon, onto the material plane. After an accidental papercut led to a small amount of blood being dripped onto Jacobs’ ritual circle research paper, T’braxos appeared in roar of hellfire that left the class, Theresa, and the demon himself in a state of brief panic. Theresa was unaware of her demon heritage but is open to forming a relationship with her father.

“It was surprising, to say the least.” Theresa said, standing next to her eleven-foot-tall father. “I always knew I wasn’t fully human but mom and I could never quite figure out enough about my dad to understand my heritage. It’s been great to be able to learn more about the other side of my family and getting to know my dad, too! He’s definitely different to what I was expecting but I’m enjoying the time we’ve had together so far.”

T’braxos, meanwhile, has been nothing but apologetic for his absence in his daughter’s life. He claims to have been unaware of his progeny’s existence but plans on making up for lost time with Theresa. He plans on staying on the island through the holiday season before returning back to hell to continue his work. “Despite my reluctance to part with my daughter so soon after reuniting, my work in Dis needs my attention. I do plan on residing up here for a time whenever possible as I wish to know the lovely young woman my daughter has become.”

Headline: The MC Indie Film Festival to be held in January of 2021


Story: Ring in the new year at Manta Carlos’s very own indie film festival to be held on January 2nd and 3rd for 2021!


The film festival has been a Manta Carlos staple since it was first held in 1988. The festival was once seen as a small gathering of movie-buffs but has since grown into an event large enough to rent out the entirety of the Royal Hippogriff Cinema to show the films of the various up-and-coming film directors of Manta Carlos.

Headline: A Breach in the Veil Caused a Startup Company to Rise Up Overnight

Story: On New Year's Eve, anonymous hackers from the Narrow Reality broke into an Islander's phone and downloaded hours of videos and over three hundred pictures which featured friends and family who were more than human. These pictures and videos were spread through the dark web and leaked out to the general public before authorities could contain the situation.

Shortly after the leak, a group of former Veil agents and a number of volunteers had come out to the Narrow Reality to claim that the leaked media was from a project that was in the works for 5 years, creating life-like CGI.

The group called themselves Manta Ray Studios, and they had reportedly been contacted by a number of studios which coveted their CGI technology.

Headline: Wild Winds Leave Animals Spooked

Story: As many know here on Manta Carlos, the world of magic can often act in wild, unpredictable ways. Many have seen and reported the appearance of a mysterious shadow over the island a few weeks ago and reports have since followed of odd shifts in time where the past seems to meld with the present. There have been instances of paved streets shifting into dirt roads, random objects from the Old World appearing randomly in people's homes and businesses, and even an empty stage coach with a horse still attached appearing in Old Town Manta Carlos.

But the newest concern is the affect this new chronological anomaly is the effect its having on the fauna of Manta Carlos. Citizens are noticing that their pets are behaving oddly, especially during times of anachronistic incidents. Sweet and reserved creatures are becoming more erratic and aggressive while larger predators, such as the albino tiger in the Starlight Zoo, are now docile and even frightened at the slightest of provacation. A statement has been released by the zoo, stating that it will be closed until further notice as animal and attendee safety is their top priority.

Another statement has come from the Manta Carlos Forest Ranger team, who have receieved and verified reports that even fauna within the Forbidden Forest have been acting more erractically than usual and caution citizens from even approaching the vicinity near the Forbidden Forest unless necessary due to increased danger.

Finally, an official statement has come from the Public Safety department at City Hall. "Due to the abnormal chronomagic anomalies occuring across the island, we highly recommend keeping all pets indoors until the crisis can be better understood and solved. For those who are out and about, please take extra caution to avoid animals who may cross your path due to the rapid confusion. If any animals are noticed exhibiting wild or unusual behaviour, please contact the Animal Control team immediately and report the location. It is highly discouraged to approach animals you may see due to unpredictable natures caused by anachronistic events."
