Dorito grinned and hopped over a gnarled root, looking back over her shoulder at Cheeto. "Watch that root, Chee." Cheeto wore a large backpack full of supplies, carrying the Elven Lantern she had got from the underground before. It was good that Dorito called out the root because, even with her light source, Cheeto almost tripped over the damn thing. She took an awkward and cumbersome step over the root and moved quickly to catch up with her sister. They knew they were looking for Orion, but they also knew this forest was supposedly 'forbidden.' "I still can't find too much evidence as to why this place is called the 'Forbidden' Forest." Dorito just scoffed and squeaked back to her sister dismissively. "Probably 'cuz the staff can't find kids who go here to skip class. Besides its also probably full of some magical loot like in the underground!" Cheeto scratched her chin.

A sound behind them made Dorito turn quickly and Cheeto jump back and overbalance. As Dorito looked back in shock Cheeto rolled back and flopped down like a flipped turtle, arms and legs squirming as she tried to right herself. "AHH! I'm stuuuuuuck!" She truly was, the backpack making it hard for Cheeto to get herself back onto her feet as she squirmed and tried to shift herself or gain purchase on the ground. "This is starting to get embarrassing..."

"Maybe it would be better if I carried this thing..."

Chee would find herself lifted up off the ground by the backpack itself, righted, and set back down on her feet. Orion had been the one to make the noise, and it was he who had picked Chee back up. Lifting her and the backpack one-handed was easy for him, and he gave the two sisters a kind smile as he offered to take the pack himself.

Resting on his shoulder was the Dwarven pick axe thing they had found last time they had gone adventuring, down in the Underground. With it, he hoped that their current excursion would turn up even more interesting artifacts for him to study and keep.

"Hello, by the way. Sorry to sneak up on you two like that."

The Forbidden Forest had always been an area of interest for Orion. The place seemed liked any other woodland area, but there was always this rumor or that whispering about magical goings-on within. Now he was far from scared to go into, but he lacked a proper guide to get him around in it or tell him what was of interest and what was just regular forest stuff. Hopefully the sisters would fulfill that role for him.

"So do we have a plan of attack, or are we just wandering for now?"

Cheeto curled up like a kitten grabbed up by the scruff of the neck. Dorito paused then leaned against the tree, laughing loud and hard. Her guffaws and cackles echoed through the forest as Cheeto crossed her arms and frowned as she was placed back on her feet. "Knock it off!" Dorito gasped for air and wiped a tear from her eye as she regained her composure. "Sorry, sorry. It's just... you looked like you were having so much fun." The two girls turned to look up at Orion with matching excited grins, however, as now they can get started proper.

"Well, we have a-" "Cheeto just wanted to get you alone in the woods tonight!" Cheeto froze as she was cut off then hastily clapped a mouth over Dorito's head, pulling her into a headlock as she tried to continue. "I've always wondered why this forest was 'forbidden', and I heard around the school its because it has a long history of magical activity." The two girls scuffled as Dorito managed to slip a finger into Cheeto's mouth and fishhook the poor girl, scrapping until she was free. "Leggo my hair!" "Yeah, and we figured that would mean that it'd be easy to find some kinda magical site or artifact around in here, or maybe some cool magical monster!" The scuffle continued and the two girls separated from each other and resumed grinning up at Orion.

"Its near-impossible to get any maps of the forest since they're all forbidden and stuff..." Dorito fished in her own fanny pack and pulled out a large sheet of paper that had been meticulously folded. "Buuut its amazing what guys will do for you when you bat your eyes and speak real nice." She handed the surprisingly recent map of the forbidden forest to Orion.

Orion just had to roll his eyes at Dori's innuendo, and the general way the sisters squabbled and fought. They were a certainly a pair of characters, and perhaps the very thing that inspired the trope of bickering siblings. They grappled and fought in such a way that it was extremely difficult to discern if they actually meant each other harm, or if it was the kind of play fighting that wolf and lion cubs engaged in. Chee's headlock looked quite real. But then again, professional wrestling was a thing that existed, so maybe Orion was just out-of-the-loop regarding fake fighting.

It was good to hear that the two of them were on the same curious wavelength as Orion. Though there were times a location or a person earned an undeserved and ill-fitting name, most of the time the name actually meant something and alluded to a known fact. Throughout history, this proved especially true for more foreboding names, including the actual word "Forbidden".

"Well, I suppose when no one is poking around the area, no one is going to be taking anything back. So more for us to find."

Taking the map in his hand, and planting his axe in the ground upright, Orion unfolded the paper and gave it a good look over. He wondered how the actual map maker could have such knowledge of the area.

"Very nice, girls. Very nice. If this place follows any of the same magic rules that I know of, then the good stuff should be in the middle, right? And there might be a chance of some kind of "get turned around and lost" spell in effect somewhere..."

Cheeto and Dorito both looked to each other then back to Orion. "Well, here's the thing..." Dorito started as she looked over at Cheeto, who continued without mising a beat. "Pretty much all the information on the forest is forbidden too." The two goblins seemed pretty dejected as they frowned up at Orion, as though shamed by some perceived failure. "Cheeto tore through every book we could get our hands on and found nothing." Dorito squeaked, looking at her sister. "And Dorito really took a chance just getting that map, we'll probably get in all sorts of trouble when the staff finds out its missing."

Cheeto was about to speak when Dorito suddenly cut her off. "But that doesn't matter at all!" She grinned and punched her left palm with her right fist. "We're here, we've got the lantern and that nice pick we got from the underground!" "H-huh?" Dorito slung an arm around Cheeto's shoulder and gave a huge, toothy grin to Orion. "We got the whole forbidden woods to ourselves tonight and we can explore to our heart's content!" Cheeto went from looking somewhat dejected to giving a somewhat nervous smile up to Orion as well. "Well, hehe... Well yeah. Yeah, nobody'll know we're in here, so we got as long as we want to search around here. You take the lead though, okay?"

Orion had been busy going over as much of the map as he could while he listened to the sisters explain their situation in greater detail. For a while, he was almost completely hidden from their view by the unfolded map as he held it up to get better light on it or a better angle. But he heard everything they said. When he lowered the map, he was smiling back at them while folding it back into a more manageable size.

"Sometimes discovery requires taking a few risks. I'm not worried about breakin' a few rules here and there for science."

He handed it back and hefted his axe back on his shoulder.

"Now then! We're off! To adventure!"

With an exaggerated stride, Orion began marching off into the wood. As excited as he was, though, he still kept an ear and an eye out for anything interesting, or dangerous. There was no doubt that there was a lot to find in the forest, but he had no idea what it would like when and if he found it.

His eye caught his axe again, and he held it out in front of him like a divining rod.

"You said this thing... glows when it senses something valuable, right? Do I need to turn it on or something?"

Dorito took the map back from Orion, both her and Cheeto grinning and nodding excitedly with each thing Orion said. As he started off with his dramatic strides Cheeto Quickly trotted up to the left side of him, Dorito moving to the right. When he asked about the Trailbreaker's attributes, mainly that it lights up when near a desired object, Cheeto spoke up.

"The head of the Trailbreaker will glow the closer you get to either rare or precious minerals or some form of desired object or treasure. I dunno how specific you have to be with it but the closer you get, the brighter it glows."

Dorito chimed in playfully as she hopped over some more gnarled and exposed roots.

"Hmmm, hold it close to me since I'm pretty desirable."

She stuck her hands behind her head and gave an exaggerated 'sexy look' up at Orion as Cheeto sighed and rubbed her eyes with her thumb and index finger.

"I don't think it works that way Dorito..." "Aww why you gotta be that way Chee?"

The two sisters giggled as they moved, their hands instinctively grabbing onto branches and tree trunks and pulling themselves along as often as they'd step on or hop over roots or uneven terrain. It appeared like their goblin physiques were perfect for moving through thick foliage and brush as they seemed almost at home moving along, granted Cheeto seemed to slip up a few times trying to keep the lantern elevated. Who knew what could be lurking in these woods?

Even during Chee's explanation, Orion was waving the Trailbreaker this way and that like he was trying to get a signal for a cellphone in an area with weak reception. He pointed it upwards. He pointed it at a tree and then a shrub. He tried making little symbols and movements in the air like it was a wand. But it was all in the service of science. Each silly movement was a test to see if he could get a reaction, any kind of reaction.

Just for humor's sake, he held it out to Dori as well.

"Uhp. I think I saw a glow. Maybe."

The Trailbreaker did not glow. Smiling at his little joke, Orion turned back to leading the way with the head of the axe at the front of their group.

The forest quickly became thick and dense with brush and foliage. Orion was having some difficulty moving through it all, and he had to resort to using the Trailbreaker to cut a branch here and there when it was not plausible to bend it out of the way. The tool proved to be just as capable of cutting debris as any other sharp axe, though that was possibly due to its never-dull enchantment, or whatever it was called.

"Oh. Oh! Check it out! I think it's glowing! For real!"

He was not joking this time around. During one of Orion's swings he had noticed the head pulse slightly with blue light. Surprised, he tried to get it to pulse again. It took a few adjustments, but eventually he got it to glow lightly while he held it out.

"That way!"

When Orion made his little joke about the pick glowing for Dorito, she was quick to nudge Cheeto with her elbow and speak with a hint of smugness in her voice. "See? He likes me better!" Cheeto huffed and kept walking, pouting at her sister before the two turned and looked at the Trailbreaker as it started to glow. "Oh nice! Something's close!" She began to look around excitedly as if it would be sitting out in the open for her. Cheeto spoke up, her tone somewhat strained. "It might be a false positive, we gotta be sure though." Cheeto moved over to Orion and took hold of his arms, guiding him slowly and trying to see how the Trailbreaker reacted to different directions. It might not even react to directions at all, Cheeto thought it at least worth a try.

Dorito grabbed hold of a low hanging tree branch and curled her legs up, swinging from it for a few seconds as she waited. "There's a pretty good chance that if we keep walking we'll either find it or get a sign we're going the wrong direction, Chee." Cheeto let go of Orion, crossed her arms, then nodded. "Yeah, and its not like we can get lost, we got a map." The two girls hurried up to Orion and grinned up at him like puppies when their owner got home. "Lead on, Orion!" Dorito nodded excitedly. "Yeah who know what we'll find?"

Rose a short orange haired girl who is the daughter of a pure blood vampire and a high ranked demon, has to keep "it" a secret from everyone at school, the only one who knows is the head master so he made the forest forbidden, sometimes students wonder in here to see what makes it forbidden. Usually i either bring them off the trail to the heart or i scare them, how would i know this would be my toughest case yet.

About to set out to get the stuff for dinner rose's super sensitive hearing heard a light beeping off into the distance. Rose jumped in a tree and went to the sound by the time she got there the three explorers were already pretty deep into the forest. She jumped onto a loose branch that was in ear shoot of the students. As she jumped onto the branch it broke and there was a loud bang as she hit the ground.

Owww, that hurt

Rose sat underneath the tree, she was surprisingly tired, but it was no doubt after her little sister threw a fit after rose took in a new girl.
