Private Whispers of the Mind

Michi took a moment to respond, carefully gauging whether Lizzy could handle the voices without her having to actively guide her. "On a usual day, yeah," she responded, pulling her focus away from all the chatter and towards her friend. By the sound of Lizzy's voice, she could tell how the girl was just as jarred as she was the first time she woke up to the noise. Though right now, Michi couldn't tell if the voices had just toned down from that point, or she also ended up growing too used to company in her head after a month. "It might take a bit, but try pretending they're just the cafeteria crowd," Michi told her. "I think... that's the most you'll be worrying about?"

Michi was stunned with the sudden scream. Now that she had no access to her physical body, the voices were much stronger for her, and the screams felt so much more disarming. "Whatever you do, don't try to scream outwardly," she said, trying to speak over the voices, once she found her composure. If she'd known they'd react this way, she'd have tried to help Lizzy another way. She'd at least learned to filter through the voices enough to pick out which one was Lizzy's. "There's no way they're going to stop, I'm sorry," Michi apologized, not knowing any other way to help ease Lizzy's troubles with the intrusive screams. She'd never found a way to silence them, so all she knew to do with them was to leave them be. It really did slip her mind she actually took weeks to even learn her way around the voices. "You can't repress them -- the screams get worse the harder you try. You have to just let them pass no matter what. They'll tire themselves out."

Michi was startled when Lizzy suddenly came up with an idea. Which. Michi wasn't against in all honesty. Half the time she found herself physically drawing on her palm, or walking around, or something other so she could ignore the voices. Distraction sounded like a plan. "Okay, I guess that's an idea," Michi agreed, "If you're going out, keys and wallet are at the top of the dresser." A pause. "Don't do anything crazy."

Michi never liked staying in the dorms when she was having voice problems. She would rather go somewhere where there was less people if things revert back to when she was in the islets, but she was keeping that to herself. Either way, if they're going out, it was best to keep her room locked when Lizzy's body lay there unconscious. "Er... lounge is fine for now," she told Lizzy, speaking over the buzz of the voices. The voices were harder to deal with when she's just at the back of her own mind. Maybe that's why they're all loud at the same time. It was not making her feel comfortable right now. "Honestly, I wouldn't mind farther from the dorms, we can definitely go anywhere."

Michi was quiet for a moment, so for those couple of seconds, all Lizzy could hear was a soft buzz from a handful of voices. Frankly, Michi had no idea what to do. All she wanted to happen was to cover her ears -- not that that could make any difference. The voices were just going to keep on going. "Honestly, I might scream, but that's a bad idea for either of us. You wanted distractions, right? So you're free to do whatever you want."
