The night was dark and deep, the air was quiet save for the sounds of crickets from inside bushes and trees, and the people of the academy have all either gone back to the dormitories or left. It was way beyond curfew, which meant that only night guards should be outside.

Elizabeth knew that. Despite knowing, she still took her time outside under the moonlight, her watering can in hand so she can rehydrate any plant she'd notice to be wilting or drying up during her stroll. As to why it had to be at night, well, the world was different at night. Different creatures took over the world, as the creatures of daylight would all be sleeping. There were also flowers that bloomed only at night, and it was her main goal during tonight's trip to find them.

She strolled outside unguarded, as if she'd forgotten there would be guards roaming around and it was very possible for her to get caught and get some punishment. So far, nobody has seen her yet. So she went on, watering plants along the way and stopping here and there to crouch in front patches of soil.

For an island full of such wonder, Alex still didn't feel intimidated enough to hide away. He scoffed at the idea of running away from an adventure just waiting to happen. It was why he was walking around the school at night, hoping to spot an interesting sight. Maybe Alex would see a real life werewolf howling at the moon, or a blood sucking vampire killing an unsuspecting victim. With how unreal all of this felt, fear was a hard feeling to experience, and yet, his arms proved that there were abnormalities in the world, and he was one of them.

Instead of a werewolf or a vampire, Alex saw a small girl watering the plants outside. "What?" he said before quickly covering his mouth and hid. He expected someone more inhuman to be around here. Perhaps he didn't see things correctly. Peeking out from the corner of the building Alex hid behind, he summoned his arms and had one poke at the girl's back a few times, then pulled them away from her. If he was going to be out here, he might as well have some fun. It would be interesting seeing how a student here reacted differently to his invisible arms from an average human.

Elizabeth quickly turned around after hearing the voice. Like a prey that suddenly became aware of being targeted, she frantically looked around, standing up, and instinctively put her arms up in front of her chest. If it were the guards, they would have showed themselves instantly and might have even pointed at her their... those 'flashy light' things they had. But her surroundings remained dark. It was dark, and she finally felt some sort of fear for what she might be unable to see out there, being completely vulnerable in the open space.
She looked around some more with her eyes opened wide and her pupils trembling, but nothing came. So she decided to leave the place immediately.

That was when she felt something tap her from behind. She turned around quickly again, this time fear beginning to sink into her. Her heart was raising and her breath was becoming shallow and quick with panic. Her extremities were becoming cold because of her nervousness.

"Who... Who's there?" she dared to call out. But when she thought of looking around while expecting to see something, she began to feel another kind of fear, one that became worse as time stretched. But she couldn't see anything in the dark anyway, so she decided to turn around and continue walking back to the dormitory.

Alex was beginning to feel bad now. Back home, people reacted with a confused look around their surrounding, then went back to their business when Alex played his pranks. Even at night, people didn't care much about an unknown tap on their back if no one was around. He did see some worried glances, and from those people, they just got out their keys as a weapon and would scurry away. This girl looked like she was nearing a panic attack, and Alex couldn't allow himself to be responsible for that. Even ignoring how much of an asshole he would be for bringing a person to that level of fear, he was confident he would be caught for it and get into serious trouble.

Sighing, Alex stepped out of his hiding spot. Already he was starting off with a bad first impression. These islands must have been way more dangerous than he thought if an invisible tap on the back was enough to send someone trembling in fear.

"Hey, girl?" Alex said awkwardly. How was he supposed to introduce himself now? "Uhhh, sorry about that. Didn't mean to scare you." Keeping his voice low, he tried to keep up with the girl so she could hear him. "You, uh . . . You alright?" In case she turned around to see him, he kept his eyes on the floor, barely attempting to prepare himself for eye contact.

At that time, Elizabeth couldn't help but be too jumpy. She even wished a guard would find her and guide her back to her room safely; at least that way she didn't need to be too afraid of something she couldn't even see.

That fear was much like a ticking bomb, and the sudden voice that called out to her detonated it.

Screaming, Elizabeth dropped her watering can and suddenly sucked the energy of soil and even some plants around her, creating balls of raw mana and throwing them to the voice's direction. It was completely unintentional, only caused by the fear and surprise that resulted in a bad mixture of feelings. Elizabeth eventually stopped when her energy dropped, and that was when she realized she probably shouldn't have done that.

Thankfully the raw mana didn't hit her prankster at all, or he might have ended up with a lot of injuries.

Panting, she hesitantly stepped forward, still looking for him. "Oh no... Wh-Where..? Please tell me you're unhurt, Mr. Stranger..."

Falling to the floor and covering himself with his psychic arms, Alex attempted to dodge whatever the girl sent at him. He cursed quietly under his breath, hoping her screams of panic wouldn't attract anyone to them. When they stopped, Alex made his arms disappear and slowly rose from the ground, looking at the girl with squinted eyes and furrowed eyebrows. He couldn't tell if he could trust her after that, but she looked apologetic enough.

"It's fine, and I'm Alex, by the way." He looked around, trying to see what it was that almost hit him and what it hit instead. "And you're fine. Should have expected something to happen. Heh, sorry." Alex then realized that it was probably too dark for the girl to see him properly, so he tried to make himself more visible to the girl, even waving at her until she noticed him.

Elizabeth heaved her heaviest sigh of relief ever once she knew the stranger was unharmed. She did, however, make a little cry, a small whimper, after realizing just what her sudden attack destroyed. The plants and soil surrounding her became wilted and black, not that its blackness would be very noticeable in the dark, and towards the stranger's direction there were patches of plants and some concrete surfaces which looked like they were hit by small explosives.

He waved at her, so she walked towards him, warily at first though she soon relaxed after thinking he probably didn't mean any harm.

So his name was Alex, huh? "I'm Elizabeth," she replied. "I apologize, I almost hurt you bad but please believe me, I didn't mean it!" They were only even at least. He scared her and she... almost killed him-- well, that wasn't exactly even. But she left it at that.

Suddenly, Elizabeth sensed movement from the corners of her eyes and she realized there was light coming towards them from a sharp turn. It must probably the guards and their flashy light things! Elizabeth started to panic again, and before she knew it was pulling Alex into a thick patch of bushes for them to hide.

Alex shrugged casually, trying not to look disturbed by the damage the girl, who was named Elizabeth, caused. It took him forcing himself to realize that whatever she sent out that caused that nearly hit him, and he would have been killed by it or at least hurt. And yet, despite how hard his heart was beating and how he could feel sweat trickling down his forehead when he spoke, it was casual, as if someone accidentally spilled water on the floor. "Nah, it's fine. I would've freaked too if that happened to—"

Disoriented by being pulled into the bushes by Elizabeth, he had to cover his mouth to avoid blurting out a, What? and getting them both into more trouble. Instead, he sat there quietly, following where Elizabeth was looking and hoping the guards would leave soon. All of this trouble for a prank made him miss California. There weren't any enhanced humans back there to attack him when he tried to tease them.

Elizabeth peeked through the spaces between the leaves and made sure to keep an eye on how the rays of light moved. She could hear them mumbling reactions about the wreck, and some began to look around for the culprit, so she knew it was impossible for them to stay there without getting caught.

Through the small spaces, she saw the damage she's done when the lights passed by the concerned areas. Her heart sunk; she'd have to apologize to the living creatures she destroyed after this.

So she couldn't afford to get caught. She turned at Alex and quietly asked, "What should we do? They'll catch us, won't they? And then we'll get punished! Oh dear... we should run. What do you think?"

"Quiet and calm down," Alex told her. "We'll be all right, but not if you keep panicking like that. Here, let me try something." Summoning his arms, Alex picked up a few pebbles and threw them away from him and Elizabeth; then he rustled some bushes. That was enough to make the guards turn away from where the two were hiding and follow the sounds.

"Now's our chance." He pulled Elizabeth, being very gentle with his grip, and tried to lead her away from the bushes to somewhere else with fewer guards. Once in a while he would throw some more pebbles and shake more pushes, but then he stopped, thinking it would lead the guards to them than turn them away.
