"I suppose I am," he was looking at his work proudly as it seemed to inspect Wednesday in turn. "I'm probably gonna tweak it a bit later to add a bit more me to it though."

The ball seemed to shudder after a moment and the energy left it, returning it to being just an ordinary ball. Sazz had sort of expected this. "But what about you? You helped me out with this, I can't not offer you some help too. We're like peas in a pod or something."

"Oh, it's fine, I helped you because I wanted to. Make sure you show me the finished product, of course."

She smiled standing back up, Frodo returning to stand at her feet. For the moment she was just glad to see the spell worked and glad to observe some new magic in action.

"Though, I guess if you want to do something for me..." She brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, smiling a bit more bashfully as she spoke. "Walk me home?"

"No worries, you'll probably get some overly excited texts and junk you know?" he grinned, happy to have someone like Wednesday to show off to.

Sazz sighed and gave her a look in response to her simple request. Of course that was it. He couldn't say no to her either. In fact, he would have offered to walk her home anyway, but hardly considered that what he was getting at.

"And here I was gonna offer to do that anyway," he replied as he began collecting his things. "Well, wanna stop and grab a bite on the way or are you in a hurry?"

She waited for him by the door, slinging her own bag over her shoulder after letting Frodo climb back inside it. Once he was finished she flashed another smile and started to walk out with him.

"I guess I am feeling a little hungry." She mused. "I um, might have gotten a little carried away in the library at lunch time and forgot to grab something..."

She rubbed the back of her neck, embarrassed.

"Still, um," She continued, mostly to deflect her little mistake. "You know if you want me to do something like that again for when your experimenting some more I can help out then as well. Maybe I could send you the specifics of how to stabilise it so you can do it yourself..."

As they walked and she talked, she mostly kept her attention on Sazz, so much so, she didn't realise the school hallways they were walking through seemed...longer, both in front of them and behind them, so much so that the nearest door wasn't even in eyesight.

Sazz chatted cheerily with Wednesday for a bit as they headed out of the building. Or at least that's what should have been happening. Something was off, he couldn't even see the door. And Wednesday hadn't taken notice yet. His eyes narrowed and he moved a bit closer to Wednesday.

"Hey, something's fucky," at this point he'd stopped dead and formed a fireball on the tip of his finger.

Wednesday came to a stop along with him, tilting her head questioningly until she realied the reason.

"Oh...oh no..."

She immediately went to the nearest window, and upon checking, realised the glass appeared fog over, to the point where practically nothing passed the glass was visible. She then went to the door to the nearest classroom, but as she grasped the knob and turned the door didn't move a millimetre, as if the entire thing was fixed in place.

The colour drained from her face, eye going wide. Frodo's head poked out from the bag and the cat hissed. Something was very wrong.

Sazz knew enough to know whatever this was, it was bad. He just had no idea what all was happening. The fireball that was on his finger now simply floated next to him. The doors were sealed, and there was nothing to be seen at all out the windows.

"Wednesday, what do we need to do?" his voice was dead serious for once. Probably the first time Wednesday had heard him take a tone like that. Whatever this was, there had to be a way to break it. There was always a way to break magic.

She doesn't respond right away, too busy glancing from one side of the hall to the other, her panic clearly growing with every passing moment.

"We...we need to leave, we need to leave now."

Exactly how they were going to do that was something she was still in the process of deciding, clearly trying to sort their options in her mind. She swallowed, looked to be steeling herself for a moment. And then, she did something Sazz would never have seen her do before.

She yanked her eyepatch right off her eye.

Immediately a deep, sickly green light burst from her eye socket, like a murky torch shining from within a pit. Immediately her expression shifted to one of absolute terror, entire body shivering as she stared down in the direction that they were walking. It was there, whatever the thing she could see was in that direction, imperceptible to the demon's eyes. It took her a moment to force her hands back to her face to pull the patch over her eye again, and as soon as it was covered she was gasping for air, breathing deep as she regained control of herself.

"T-this way, come on."

She immediately started back the way they'd come from, slinging her backpack into her arms to start rooting around for something as she moved.

She had both eyes this whole time? She was lifting her patch and releasing some kind of seal like some kind of shonen anime character. As he thought about it more he didn't really know a ton about Wednesday. But now that this was happening, her intense studious nature was all starting to make sense. But how do you run from an unseen force when you yourself are prone to running yourself ragged trying to fix things?

Sazz didn't ask her any questions, he just followed her lead. Something very bad was here. Sazz didn't actually have any particular warding spells or something he could use to potentially help. That sort of magic wasn't his strong suit. This incident however was making him consider at least giving it a shot. At least he'd be able to help a bit.

Wednesday moved as quickly as her skinny legs would carry her without tripping over, any explanation for what was going one would have to wait. Her thoughts were too preoccupied to consider much else. She'd gotten too comfortable, too complacent. She thought she'd been careful, kept herself hidden, kept her defences up for the beast to stay off her scent but clearly that wasn't the case.

She eventually stopped her rummaging. Trying to stand her ground here was pointless. they needed an exit. Now. She abruptly dropped down to one knee, the tips of her fingers beginning to glow with arcane power as she began to draw a glyph on the ground. If she could get the transport symbol down fast enough then they could-

There was a sudden jolt, the ground suddenly lifting up under them, causing the witch to yelp in panic as the spell she'd been scribing fizzled away. The hallway they stood in was starting to lift- no, bend, as if some sort of weight was pushing down in the centre of the hall behind them. Barely a moment passed before the ground they stood on began to shift, sliding back towards the creature that terrified the witch so much.

Its presence was now tangible enough for Sazz to get a glimpse. The middle of the hallway seemed to shimmer and blur, both sides of the hallway pulling inside the space it occupied, like an invisible black hole that was slowly devouring everything around it.

Frodo clung to one of the lockers lining the walls, and Wednesday followed suit. With one frail hand gripping the metal handle, the other started to draw again, much more rushed this time, quickly scribbling the teleport symbol on the ground.

"H-hold onto me!" She yelled, frantic.
