Oluremi was a nervous wreck. Arjean had their friends come over many times, but Oluremi never had her own friends come over. Now would be her first time inviting anyone into her room that wasn't family. She made sure everything was clean, but that wasn't the real issue. The real problem was her family. They were great at acting all friendly and polite (minus Arjean, but they were two, what did anyone expect?), but whenever they felt threatened they would switch into being passive-aggressively kind. Their talent to be just the perfect mixture of sweet and mean to avoid getting into big trouble was incredible.

Despite her feelings, Remi still kept on her usual impassive face, though at times her eyebrows would twitch and she would pluck out her feathers from her neck without realizing it. She had to tell her family, even if she didn't want to. They were going to notice when a stranger walked in, no matter how hard she tried to rush them into her bedroom. For a moment she thought about having Eiko climb through the window, but her room was on the second floor of the mansion, and she didn't know how to make a detailed map of such a vast and complicated house. Remi also considered her friend getting lost through the words, so that plan was dead before it even took a breath.

Her family reacted well to the news, helping her get prepared, and as always, Béatrice was setting up food for Eiko. Béatrice didn't hesitate to rush out to the store and get a lot of seafood; she also brought back snacks for Remi to put in her bedroom for her friend. When Béatrice acted kind Oluremi was always caught off guard. She could switch between kind to demonic in seconds, bit today seemed to be one of her good days, where her mood was more stable and happier than usual. Arjean even got to skip out on their tests, much to their confusion and anxiety. Instead, Ade was taking care of them, making sure they didn't get in the way of Remi's hang out with Eiko.

Now that everything was finished, Remi hung around the outside of the mansion, checking her phone every once in a while to make sure her friend didn't get lost. The house was deliberately set in a far off area, hidden nicely behind trees, for her mothers' own personal reasons. It was cold too, but that was only natural to Water oricenta. Oluremi would have liked it colder, but she had to deal with things not being too cold on Manta Carlos because of other species. The house should be easy to see if Eiko followed her instructions. It was giant, painted white, and obviously expensive. Oluremi had Béatrice and Archard's flashy personalities to thank for that kind of privilege.

Eiko checked her phone for the 10th time in the same minute. She knew she was getting close to her friend's house, but couldn't see it yet. Her anxiety was growing by the second. It was her first time going to someone else's house, and had no idea about what to do. What if she said something wrong? What if Remi's family hated her? And what if she accidentally broke an object of value while trying to move around?

Eiko looked around. It was getting cold at this time of the day, and she shivered. In the distance, she could finally see the house. It was secluded, hidden deep into the woods. Nervertheless, the house was big and hard to miss, when you knew where to find it.

As she started to approach the mansion, Eiko became intimidated. That's what Remi was living in? How did she not get lost inside her own house?

Finally, as Eiko slithered close enough to the dwelling, she saw Remi waiting for her outside. She nervously waved her hand. "Hey! Hope i'm not too late."

"Nah, you're fine," Remi responded before turning away and leading Eiko into her house."The place can be a bit confusing to figure out, so just stay close."

Oluremi was surprised that Béatrice didn't immediately pop up to greet Eiko, but she assumed she was in the kitchen cooking and was waiting for the right moment. She was thankful her moms had enough sense to not bombard Eiko with questions about what it was like to be a lamia... At least, not immediately.

Eiko was led upstairs to Remi's bedroom. There was a room they had to enter first to get in, which was what Remi considered her computer room. There was a tv hooked up on the walls and, a brown wooden desk covered with sketchbooks and art books, a white and pink monitor and keyboard on it, and a white chair. Underneath the television was an impressive collection of comic books, manga, and CDs for different shows in a white bookcase. There was also a large carpet spread across the room patterned with pink and yellow stripes.

Just like her computer room, Oluremi's bedroom was covered in brightly colored pastels, the most common one being pink. Her bed was set up like the ones you would see in a fantasy book that a princess would lay on, but this was one round with the mattress put on the floor. It had to be round and large so she could fold her wings easily when laying down. The room's carpet was a baby blue with a large, white and purple carpet covered in elegant designs put over it. The walls were painted pink with blue, yellow, and purple dots looking similar to glitter on it. The only thing that wasn't pink was her dresser, which was white and gold, but still had the same princess-esque look like the rest of her room.

"The other room over there," she pointed at the door, lined almost parallel to the door they just entered the bedroom from, "is my music room. I have some stuff set up for dancing there, but I usually do it outside. Gives me more space. You can also see my collection of instruments that I may or may not be able to play in there.

"Also, my moms may end up asking you a lot of questions, so sorry about that. Sorry if you hear a baby crying in the background too." Oluremi often forgot the strength of human hearing, but she assumed that Arjean's crying was loud enough for the deaf to hear.

"Oh, that's alright, I don't really mind. Im sure your family isn't all that bad." Eiko said with a shy smile. She looked around the room, with a mesmerized expression on her face. This place was so big! She could move around without fear of breaking something, which practically never happened before; she had little to no control over her tail, and the length of it didn't help.

Remi's room was, in some ways, similar to Eiko's room back at home. Except that, of course, Eiko didn't have computer nor a music room, and her bedroom wasn't as big as Remi's. She still loved it though, and in times like this, she missed her own home.

The room had a really magical vibe attached to it, and Eiko almost felt like an intruder in a place like this. It was her first time ever in someone else's house, and even worse, in someone else's own room. It was weirdly personal, and Eiko was glad that Remi trusted her enough to let her see all of this, but also felt a little scared. She just didn't know what to do, really.

After standing awkwardly in middle of the room for a little while, Eiko finally spoke up, nervously. "Uh.. well, you have a really nice room and all, but i'm not really sure what to do now? I'm really not familiar with all of this, and.. you know."

It was weird having a person inside of her bedroom. She was used to having visitors from time to time, but the only time someone entered her room it was for tutoring, and that never fully went through. It was interesting seeing Eiko's look of amazement to her house; Remi was so used to her home she sometimes forgot people came from less privileged lives. At times it made her anxious, feeling like her issues weren't as legitimate compared to others, but that was something she felt only her therapist deserved to know about.

Oluremi nearly collapsed into laughter when Eiko said her family wasn't that bad. She kept herself controlled, just giving a small smile and turning her head away. "Well, the grass is always greener on the other side."

Changing the subject, as well as going back to her impassive expression, she responded to Eiko's worry of what to do. "First time having a friend over so I'm pretty new to this too," she started off with. "We can go back into my computer room and look through my collection of comics, manga, cartoons, and anime? I got a lot less of manga and anime compared to western stuff, but my collection is still pretty big." Remi wouldn't have gone far enough to say she was a weeaboo, but she felt like she was getting close. She was pretty sure she was getting Ade and Arjean into anime and manga too, with Arjean constantly trying to get to her collection.

"My maman will bring up snacks soon too, so if you want we can check downstairs so you can meet them. It's your choice, really." Just saying that sentence made Oluremi feel weirdly young. Like she was having a playdate as a twelve-year-old with a friend than being a nineteen-year-old with a sixteen-year-old.

Eiko actually felt honored to know that she was the first friend Remi had ever invited over. She then started considering the two choices Remi had given her. Knowing that her new friend wasn't always extremely fond of her family, she decided that it would be better staying upstairs. In all cases, she had just arrived here, and wasn't ready to meet Remi's family just yet.

Eiko was actually pretty excited about seeing her friend's collection of mangas and anime. Back at home, she didn't really have access to a big variety of books and such, so most of the time she ended up reading or watching the same few things over and over again. She wasn't really bothered by that, but after a while, reading the same book 5 times in a row could become boring.

Eiko smile grew as she looked over at her friend. "I think it would be nice to check out your collection, if you don't mind. I'd like to know what your favorites are!"

"Alright then," Remi responded as she led Eiko back into her computer room. Since it was smaller, Remi had to be more careful with her wings so she wouldn't knock into Eiko, and she also had to be more aware of where EIko's tail was so she wouldn't step on it.

"So, what type of genre do you like? I prefer cutesy stuff and action and adventure. I don't have a lot of fantasy stuff since after living here for a while, fantasy seems unrealistic to reality. I know, surprising. I got slice of life comedy stuff, like Azumanga Daioh and Pani Poni Dash. For action, there's Boku no Hero Academia, Deadman Wonderful, Tokyo Ghoul, Black Butler, stuff like that. Depends on what you're into."

Eiko smiled at that. All of these seemed interesting. It appeared that she and Remi shared the same taste in tv shows. "Well, I like action and slice of life, too. Haven't had the chance to watch a lot, though. Watched a few sports anime too. Not really my cup of tea, but there was this one show... What was it called again?"

Looking around the room in hope of finding inspiration, Eiko finally remembered what she wanted to say. "Ah, yes. It was called Yuri On Ice if i'm not mistaken. Have you ever heard about it?"

"Sports anime can be pretty exciting," Oluremi admitted, "but that's probably because I'm a physically active person myself. I really like Haikyuu, but I get it's not everyone's cup of tea."

When Eiko brought up Yuri On Ice, Remi's face brightened up ever so slightly, but it was still noticeable. "I really admire the animation of Yuri On Ice. I hate how all these people keep making lesbian jokes about it or comparing to this horrible manhwa since they both feature gay men. I stay away from social media when it comes to stuff I like, only joining the fandom for some of the cuter fanfiction and artwork, but otherwise, I just like to keep my headcanons and my enjoyment of the work to myself. Fandoms can be so toxic, it's hard to find the niche areas where people aren't asshats."

Eiko chuckled at that. "I know what you mean. A lot of good works of fiction gets bad reputations because of their fanbases. It mostly happens when a lot of people join said fanbase, and then, there's chaos. I like to get involved in fandoms once in a while, but I always stay away from discourse, especially about non-canon stuff."

While talking, Eiko continued to rummage through Remi's collection. She eventually came across a sports anime called Free!. She had heard about it, but never really bothered watching it. "Is this show any good?", she said while holding up the DVD, so that her friend could see what it was.
