"I prefer making my own small fandom. Y'know, one where I can just talk to my friends online. It's not too hard to manage; if any discourse happens, it can be quickly shut down."

It felt relieving to talk about her interests like this to a real person. For a while now she felt anxious she would get judged for liking comics, anime, and other "geeky" and "nerdy" things, but the island always surprised her by how accepting it could be. That was probably because other species were also getting familiar with human geek culture.

Oluremi sat herself down in her chair, adjusting herself for a few minutes to get her wings in the right position. It was always difficult to sit down without messing up her feathers, and preening herself was always an annoyance. Noticing Eiko pull up her Free! DVD set, she rolled her chair closer. "Yeah, it was alright. The animation made me cry because of how great it was. I haven't watched it in a while though, so I don't really remember the characters all too well. I remember shipping Rin and Haru though."

"I wish I could have done that too, some kind of private fandom. Except, I would have been the only member. Didn't really have friends." Eiko almost felt sad saying these words, but it was true. Back at home, she didn't know of any other supernatural creatures, and she couldn't exactly pass as human either. That left her pretty much all alone, with the only exception being her mom.

"Anyway" she said, changing the subject. "Was the animation really that good? Haven't seen much of it. We could always watch it? If you don't have anything better to propose., of course." She smiled. It was fun to talk to someone about all these things. She never really had a friend, and even less someone to share her interests with.

Remi nearly responded by saying she knew the feeling. She didn't know Eiko's exact sentiments, but when she was younger, she stayed inside most of the time away from the other kids, only interacting with them for educational purposes or when her parents pushed her hard to play with them. But at least Remi had the option to, while Eiko wasn't allowed to. Remi was thankful Eiko changed the subject before she made it all about her and embarrassed herself.

"I know a lot of animes with great animation; it just depends on what genre you're looking for. Like, Kill la Kill is pretty fantastic, using a choppy style of animation to great affect for action and comedy, but it's also ecchi too.

"And I'm up for watching Free!. Do you want to do it now or wait a bit?"
