Hiya! I'm looking for a few plots to get the ball rolling with Tilly! These are the ones I considered most important, but you can find more of them in her hub topic, linked here for convenience, or on my sig!

A Muggle Roommate

I think it’d be really fun to have someone who isn’t a spellcaster live with Tilly, having a unique insight on how she works and likely growing increasingly irritated with her in the beginning, as she spends most of her free time locked in the room, reading or experimenting, not to mention the fact that she shorts out most nearby technology when she does this. The roommate situation could be a temporary thing that leads to her being assigned her own room, or it could be permanent and lead to a long-term friendship. The roommate need not be completely non-magical, but preferably someone who doesn’t cast spells or use rituals, but rather has natural powers of their own.

A Rival

Tilly’s power comes from blood, sweat, and many bottles of excedrin. The majority of her time is just spent re-memorizing spells she already knows, and every act of spellcraft from her is a labor of love. I’d love for her to have a rival who has magic come to them naturally. This should be someone who casts spells but can do so without much prep, preferably someone with a natural gift, but not necessarily someone who didn’t earn their powers, though they might be perceived as that by Tilly. This could be a friendly rivalry, bitter frenemies, or a hated nemesis.

A Muggle Bestie

Can overlap with the roommate thing. Someone who doesn’t cast spells, maybe even someone with a power set completely alien to her own, with an entirely different way of looking at the world, or someone with no powers at all. This will be Tilly’s confidante, someone to bounce ideas off of and someone to show her things he might not have otherwise noticed.

A Magical Mentor

Definitely a lot of these. Tilly wants to learn a lot. I foresee her not going for very long without a new power to train, or an old one to upgrade. I really wanna see her come into her own with a vast arsenal of spells, so learning tricks from as many people as possible would be awesome. She’s a bit of a blank slate right now, so the magic she learns will shape her greatly. Her lust for power would make her easily turned to the dark side if exploited, but at the moment it’s not much more than an obsessive curiosity. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a teacher, this can be basically anyone who has anything to teach her.

A Professor Snape

I just really like the mean teacher trope. Maybe she fries their computer on the first day of class because she forgot her bracelet. I’d also like this teacher to teach her something (Maybe by accident) that actually comes in very useful later, possibly even saving her life.

I've been meaning to look for a roommate for my character Evie, who I think qualifies as a muggle. She has powers but is pretty unfamiliar with magic, nor is she that interested in learning it. She's also a huge prankster and troublemaker, so I could see them grating each other initially, which can lead to some fun interactions.

I can also offer up my witch Wednesday as a potential rival. She isn't necessarily competitive, but she comes from a long-lived family of witches and has a lot of pride in her skills, so I could see a rivalry forming between them.

*tosses Shiro in* My troublesome cat shifter witch could have a friendly rivalry with her. She's also a big party goer and likes to flirt.

  • You've already got two prospects for rivals, but I'll throw in my character as well. Jeremiah Grunewald is a natural born warlock who has magic just kind of come naturally to him. He's a gentle soul most of the time, so he's not one to flaunt or taunt. He might even be a mentor if Tilly wants.

  • I also have Ysolda Drakenhardt, a knightly dragon who could be a roommate since her abilities are generally more physical and, again, natural talents rather than learned skills. She's a proper lady, but has a small temper when people mock her somewhat archaic upbringing.

  • Another possible roommate could be my character Jasmine Kennedy. She's a normal girl from an alternate earth, where she was part of a group similar to the Scooby Doo Mystery Gang. She's big about camping and being active, and she definitely seems to be the one who's got it all together. She's really insecure though, especially in the face of all this blatant, powerful magic.

  • While she can't do magic herself, Caissa Drago could be a mentor for Tilly. She wouldn't do it for free, for sure, but she's the daughter of Paimon. So her brain is a veritable library of magical knowledge. She's not a nice person by any metric, but she's good at what she does.

Hoo boy! I really appreciate the bombardment of interest! I wasn't expecting this many replies so soon! Thank you all!

The Roommate: I can see Evie and Tilly both vibing really well and getting on each other's nerves magnificently. I think they'd be really fun to play out. I also think Jasmine would be a really good influence on Tilly, making her actually go out and see the sunlight once in awhile. If you guys were up for it, we could put them in a four-room dorm and either leave a room empty or look for a third (Possibly Ysolda, though I know playing two characters in the same plot isn't fun for a lot of people).

The Rival: Y'know, it's dawned on me that Tilly is probably the type to see nearly EVERY magical peer as a rival, given how competitive and perfectionist she is, so I think all of these could work. I think a rivalry with Wednesday could be a very one-sided affair on Tilly's part on first, and maybe her competitiveness gets Wednesday on edge and annoys her enough to make it mutual, or else motivates her to be better by sheer competitiveness, depending on how you see that playing out.

While I don't think that Tilly would see Shiro as direct competition, since their power sets sorta run parallel but don't quite intersect, I could definitely see them having a friendly, one-upping-each-other-for-fun type of rivalry. I could definitely see them being good friends.

Jeremiah would likely also be the friendly sort, because it doesn't seem his style, as you pointed out. I see him more as a mentor, as I'll discuss below, but I think he could definitely expose Tilly's hubris and put her in her place once in awhile, if you think he'd be up to it.

The Mentor: As I said before, I think Jeremiah would make an excellent mentor, as he seems to have a much firmer grasp on magic than Tilly. At this point, she's almost entirely self-taught, and so holds onto a lot of unnecessary baggage in the arcane lore department. I see him as a peer and a guide, always a step or two ahead of her, but pushing her onward.

And finally...

I really like Caissa.

Call me a sucker for a devil's bargain plot, but I could see a marvelous working relationship between the two. I could have Tilly trying to summon Paimon but getting Caissa instead, or just finding out about her powers some other way. The temptation of magical knowledge is way too much for Matilda to resist, and there's tons of ways she could get screwed over by Caissa, or else bleeded dry of all her cash because she summons her way too often in the beginning and Caissa starts charging for info. Hell, she could even trick Tilly into summon Paimon as payback and nearly kill her.

Okay, I think that's everything! I'm eager to hear all of your thoughts!

I'd be down for a group dorm sure. I also actually got another want ad for a roommate who can be the forth if Kada doesn't wanna play two people as well.

I'm good with playing out her and Wednesday too. Hit me up here or on discord whenever you wanna get a thread started with them.

Depending on who everyone wants to put forward, I think it'd be Matilda, Evie, Jasmine, and a fourth, as yet undecided. (There is another wanted ad up for a roommate iirc, if we wanna try and swipe them up. We could also have one of you play two characters in the room if that's what you like. )
