"Don't worry, it's not loaded. But I'll hit you with this if you decided to do anything funny."
"Okay," Lochlann said, nodding again. "Okay."
She seemed to relax and Lochlann started to relax, too, resting his head ontop of hers and closing his eyes. Very, very slowly, he started to run one hand up and down her arm, trying to use some friction to help warm her further.
Of course he could think of some other friction that would warm her up further...
"I feel better," "How about you? Still feeling like you might hurt me?"
"Yeah," Lochlann swallowed. "I'm sorry."
He shifted a little. Knowing the gun wasn't loaded wasn't exactly a reassurance, but his body was too tired to stay tense for so long, and he started to relax a little bit. She could probably hear the way his heart started to beat faster every-time she spoke.
He closed his eyes, nuzzling her with his head, something a giant dog--or, say, a horse--might do to show affection. He was starting to get drowsy, but didn't trust himself to fall asleep.
"I'll be....off...until the rain stops," Lochlann explained. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier. I just..I thought I had it under control. I looked at the weather like twenty times before we were supposed to leave and it wasn't supposed to rain."
I can think of a few ways I can make it up to you, though.
"I...I feel better when I'm holding you though," he said, his voice so quiet it would be easy to miss. "I don't hurt as much when I'm touching you."
Addy was his new fix.
