"Yeah," she nodded, "This is wot oy' definitely want." She didn't want to lose him because of this because this is what she definitely wanted. For once, she prized something over her job. She didn't necessarily enjoy it. Sure, she got paid very well for it, but the killings...Well, it was all business. People in her line of work eventually took it as sport...and eventually it became about pleasure which eventually led to a deadly obsession. Every one around them eventually became a target and eventually it lead to their demise; death or prison.

It was odd of Jacob to even question her as if she were giving up a habit. It was almost as if he said you don't have to if you don't want to...Which was kind of him. That's how selfless Jacob was and that was one of the traits she liked so much about him. She could tell he would always put her first even when it wasn't necessary. It all started that night when he kindly allowed her to sleep in his bed untouched and decided to hole up on the couch...and in their bout of intimacy, it really showed just how much he wanted to care for her.

Suddenly, he plucked the now small clove from her lips and kissed her cheek, saying that she didn't have to do this ...alone. It made her eyes sting. Nope, she wasn't going to cry, wasn't going to cry...That really meant something, though she was confident she would be able to handle it. Hopefully Specter didn't know about Jacob and if they did...Well, she'd cross that bridge whenever.

And since today seemed to be confession day between the two, Jacob finally admitted about having a daughter...and somehow that was a great relief. Well, yeah she was aware of his failed marriage, but wow, she didn't know he had a daughter! That...was a relief, but why leave that out? For god's sake, the way he presented his end of the story, she thought he was gonna end up saying "i'm a hit man too" which would have really blown her mind. Maybe...he thought she would have assumed 'excess baggage?'...Or perhaps that he still had to have contact with his ex wife to talk to his daughter? She couldn't put her finger on it, but Jacob hid that little detail for his own reasons. She couldn't even find a reason to get mad about it. "Yeah? Tha' sounds realleh noice...Oy' didn't kno' that. Woy didn' you tell me?" she playfully nudged him.

Jacob giggled and shrugged at Lenn's nudge.

"Well, you know how it is, right? It's bad enough that I'm 'second hand' because I'm divorced. But when women find out that I also have a daughter, I might as well have said that I collect fingers or something."

He might have been exaggerating a little, but Jacob was pretty spot on about the little social stigmas he carried around. Most people were accepting of him being divorced, as it was such a common occurrence in modern times anyway. But some people still carried the notion that, since he was divorced, there must be something not right about Jacob that resulted in it. Now a good, honest talk about it would clear up most assumptions. However, Jacob couldn't talk to everyone.

The bigger strike against him as a potential partner was the notion that he had a teenage daughter, regardless if she actually lived with him or not. It compounded the divorcee problem because some people saw that he separated AND he did not have custody of his daughter and that was a huge red flag. Others just saw it as a sign that he was too old to date or become intimate with. Still others were just uncomfortable with the idea since they would inevitably have to get to know her at some point.

"I'm glad you take the news much better. I don't want you to think that you're goin' to have to be her new mother or something. God knows she already doesn't think of me as her father much anymore... But I won't force you two together, you know?"

She didn't really understand that concept of society. All she needed to learn in training was the mere basics of how humans interacted. She had never gotten the opportunity to make 'friends' or talk to people on some social level. The only way she ever really talked with people was during interrogation missions where it mostly consisted of No, please or I'll give you money, just stop hitting me. Yeah, she didn't have the best social streak until now.

Then he babbled on about not wanting to force anything upon her. Mother? Now that was a bit hard to swallow. She couldn't imagine herself helping some kid and dropping them off at school. Just the thought of being a mother...Would she even be able to have children? Oh man her train of thought was going off the rail!

At least he was talking to her normally and sitting close instead of waiting for her to knife him. Now that she thought about it, he wasn't going to end things after all--especially when he was just talking about how he didn't want force her to be a mother. It made her smile just a wee bit. Finally they both got everything off their shoulders..although admittedly her secret was just a tad bit worse. He really was one hell of a guy for not running away the moment she spilled it. "Don' worry 'bout it. If th' time eva' comes when you two do connect, oy'll be there,"

She grabbed up his hand and..fiddled with it, still looking so guilty about the whole thing. Unlike the last couple of dates they had, she was very quiet and left him with silence for a while. "Wot oy' told you 'bout myself...It's everythin'. Now you know everythin' there is to know about me...I hav' nothin' to hide anymore...an' oy'll neva' hide anythin' again."

Jacob loved his daughter, and he would have really liked to connect with her again. But things were complicated and difficult, especially with her being in her late teens. Introducing Lenn into her life via Jacob's life was way too much to ask for anyone. Obviously his daughter probably would not have taken to his well, and it seemed inappropriate to try and get Lenn involved seeing as she had her own problems AND they had only known each other for a little while now.

Lenn's sentiment was not lost though, and he kissed her thankfully. At that moment, all that really needed to matter was the two of them, and Lenn's past coming into the light. They needed to focus and just be there for each other. The way she handled his hand said enough about how insecure she was about the whole ordeal.

"No. I don't know all of you. We still need more time together for either of us to know everything. But I do know your darkest secret, and what I do of you so far... I love.

He nuzzled into her a little.

"Just one step at a time, Lenn. Together. Alright? It's a rough road, but I see the destination, and it's a place I know I want to be."

Well that was true. He'd have to know all the other things about her like habits for example and if ever came the day when he visited her place or offered to live together? He'd have to accept the fact that almost all hitmen had some extreme cases of paranoia. While her case wasn't as bad as others, she still had a gun stashed in every room and a knife under the pillow just in case. At least she didn't set small explosive traps in her apartment. She wanted to get her deposit back, thank you very much.

Then her spirits lifted just a little bit more. The kiss was reassuring and so was what he had to say. He...Loved? He loved things about her. That...That was a confession, right? She didn't want to ruin the moment and ask him to clarify that. Just knowing that he wanted to pursue what they had right now made that lump in her chest finally go away. Her shoulders finally relaxed and she nuzzled back, laughing almost pathetically and she nodded. "Y-Yeh one step atta' time...Oy'm...You...You hav' no idea how scared oy' was..." the thought of him walking out on her like that scared her to no end. It was like finally having something worth living for and having it slip from your fingers in an instant. That was terrifying.

Wait a minute.

Lenn really had something to fight for now.

Jacob really had no idea how heavy the confession must have been for Lenn. It was already a huge revelation that she is--soon-to-be was--a hitman. Just the idea of things she might have done, and how, was a load on Jacob's mind that would need to be sorted and sat-on for a long while. It would be a long time before he would stop feeling the morbid urge to ask her about her "jobs", and before he saw Lenn in a light that was not tinged with that knowledge. But he was patient and understanding, and he knew that he loved her enough to give her that benefit.

He debated the notion of living with her, or her living with him, in the near or far future. Would it be to both their benefits if they lived together? Perhaps a greater presence in each other's lives would help ease the tension and bring them closer. Or would it put them both in greater danger? Danger from retaliatory clients, and danger of possibly finding out that her past was too much to overcome...

The thoughts piled up in in his mind until he was forced to simply block them off and stow them for later. Lenn needed his full presence right there beside the pond, and he was going to give it to her. For a while, they sat on that bench, cuddling so close that she might as well have been in his lap. The park seemed empty, just for them, so that they may be soothe each other peacefully.

After some time, Jacob looked up at the distant sound of ringing and voices. Down the path, there was a snack vendor cart and children surrounding it. He realized that the park was still bustling with life that late afternoon, but the two of them had made a nice private bubble of comfort for each other on that bench.

"... Y'know what? I could really go for some ice cream... You want some ice cream, honey?"

After their ordeal of confessions, some comfort snacks seemed welcome.

In the end, this worked out…better than she expected. Way better. She was fully prepared to just…go back to the ‘normal’ things that she did…Sort of. Kind of. Well, okay maybe she wasn’t because if she really was ready to go back to her usual duties, then why did she feel uneasy about it? Oh well, she wasn’t planning on continuing business anymore until this job was done.

While she was glad that he still wanted to be with her…What was going to happen? How were they even going to move forward? Her past was obviously a big wrench thrown into their plans and she knew he had to be curious about the jobs she pulled and perhaps the current one she was on. No normal person would just turn their cheek completely. It was okay if she asked him. He just better be prepared for the story. There were a lot of things she did back then that she now wasn’t proud of and right now it was all coming back to bite her in the ass. Big time. That…Was okay though because they were going to pull through and while they couldn’t necessarily look back on this time and laugh about it; at least they were moving forward.

Gosh, speaking of moving forward…Eventually they were going to have to live together. How was that going to work out? She’d probably have to sell a few things. Yeah…But she wanted to keep a few ‘just in case’. Her paranoia came along with the job after all. Any intruder that ever would break into her territory was either an idiot or they had some kind of death wish. That paranoia would probably double now that she had to watch out for people trying to catch her off guard—especially during the night where they ‘assumed’ she was asleep. Ah crap, then he was gonna wonder why she stayed up and…W-Why there was an MP-7 under the kitchen sink…

She was going to…have to worry about that later. Right now, she was grateful for his embrace and the silence in the park. It felt like people knew they had some kind of tense conversation and steered clear of the couple. Maybe it wasn’t the case, but it was much appreciated. They had a long way to go, but she was glad they took the first step.

Suddenly he rustled beneath her and she looked to where his attention was; a snack cart. Then he did the most cutest thing; asked if she wanted to get ice cream of all things. She looked back to him and blinked, feeling her eyes sting. They watered up just a little, but it wasn’t out of distress…She was happy, unusually happy that he asked such a simple thing. It made it easier to just set aside the difficulties for once and she knew that once they enjoyed the sweet cold treat together, they could forget about it just for a little while. ”Yeh,” she sniffed and wiped her eyes, Yeh oy’d really like that…”

Today was going to be a good day after all.
