Dean had inspected every single nook an cranny in his bedroom. And so far, he found nothing out of the ordinary. Well, besides the non-electrical television. He was completely dumbfounded with how the television worked exactly. But after much observation, he had discovered that the television actually worked, by flipping a switch, though the switch was like lighting a match, he had to press it a few times before the television actually turned on. And even then he only got one channel. The news. The other slightly unusual object in the room was a metal cup attached to a thick string.

He had no idea what on earth it was or for what purpose it served; though it did remind him of those telephone cups he'd make as a kid. He glanced over his shoulder to the door that connected his room to Selia's. He realized that he hadn't anything from Selia in a while. Same with John. Were they in her room alone? Together? He had to find out. He grabbed the handle of the door and turned it, but to his disadvantage, it was locked. He knocked on the door with his knuckle. "Selia? Are you in there?" He could teleport himself into her room, but for all he knew she could be in the bathroom or changing or something. He could wait for a reply.

Selia stood staring at the door forever it seemed, till she saw the handle move, and a knock, then Dean's voice. She strode to the door, leaned close to it. She was happy to hear his voice, since she hadn't heard him while John had been in here, and it made her all uneasy, though, mainly John being in her room, and locking the door. She took in a deep breath to calm herself, thought it best to speak up now.

"I'm here, Dean. John seemed to have locked this door..." She called. She shuddered at the thought of John, and once more, the uneasy feeling washed over her again. She wanted to leave terribly, she also wanted to just head back to the academy, even though, she figured they came this far away from it, that they should go on, even if she was doubting everything about it, and how it seemed like such a stupid idea to even set out for information.

Dean felt a small smile come along the moment he heard Selia's voice, but it instantly faded away by what she said. John had locked the door. Who did he think he was? And how dare he! "What?! Hold on, Selia..." Dean wanted nothing more than to break down the door, but he knew he couldn't do that. He looked around and noticed something slightly shiny on the counter top nearby. It was a key. It was worth a shot, so Dean grabbed it, slipped it through the keyhole and not completely to his surprise, it unlocked.

He swung the door open and hugged Selia. "Are you okay? Did John try anything?" He never did like john ever since he first introduced himself when they first arrived, but finding out that John was in the same room with Selia and had locked the door just got him even more mad.

"What?! Hold on, Selia..."

To her, Dean didn't seem too happy at what she said, but she didn't think much of it, she didn't really like much either. She didn't trust John, there was only one person she believed she could trust, and that was Dean, well, she thinks she can, and does, though, through her many training sessions with her father, he branded it into her mind that you can't trust anyone, not even herself, so, that was how she sort of was. She waited a while, then took a couple steps back.

When she heard the door unlock, she smiled happily, and hugged back when he hugged her. "I'm fine, Dean. John didn't do anything... except, tell me how that TV thing works, then I told him to leave." She said, wondering if she should tell Dean what made her uneasy still. She pulled away from Dean then, turned and bent over to pick up the card from John. She straightened, then walked over to Dean again.

"John gave me his card, for whenever we want to go on that tour." She said, then looked at the card again, before she gasped, in realization. She stared at the card for long moments. John Smith. Mayor Smith. She tried to piece anything together, but all she could think of was that maybe John was just the son of the mayor. "John's last name is Smith... and John had said that the man who made the televisions was Mayor Smith... maybe John is a son to Mayor Smith..." She said, almost sounding like she was just talking to herself.

"I'm fine, Dean. John didn't do anything... except, tell me how that TV thing works, then I told him to leave."

Dean smiled as he hugged Selia. "Good. But if anything happens, just call my name and I'll be right by your side no matter what, okay? Especially if you're with John." He didn't really trust John when they first met him, and finding out that he locked the door on Selia made him less trustworthy in his book. But either way, Selia was strong and brave, and she could defend herself in the rare occasion that Dean couldn't be there to assist her.

"He told you how it works? I figured out how it turned on, but not how the thing operates." Dean looked at the card John had given to Selia. He cocked an eyebrow, wondering if his name was seriously for real. John Smith? That was probably the most common name in the world. He looked over to Selia who began talking; more to herself than him. "What are you talking about? What Mayor?"

It wasn't until later when Dean realized something wrong with the card John had given Selia. Call Me. "Wait, how can we call him if there's no..." That's when Dean remembered something. Something he saw in his room. Cups.

She smiled at Dean and nodded. If she was left alone with John again, she figured that it would be best to call for Dean, since Selia felt strange around John. "I will." She whispered, a small smile still on her lips, then she went to the bed, and sat down on it, hardly noticing that her clothes still felt a little damp. She rested her hands on her knees, and closed her eyes a moment, realizing how tired and hungry she was. She opened them again and looked at Dean when he spoke.

"John says it works on gas, instead of electricity." She said, and waved her hand, as if it didn't matter. Sure, she had been curious as to how it worked, but not anymore, not when he had said that someone has yet to leave, thats what bothered her most.

"I don't know... a Mayor Smith, thats what John calls him. The mayor was the one who suppled the televisions. And I was thinking of names. Mayor Smith. And John Smith. They might be related, but I don't know. Even I know Smith is a too common name." She said the last part a bit quieter. She was feeling confused, not understanding what she said much, maybe it was because she was tired.

"Wait, how can we call him if there's no..."

She cocked her head at him a moment, and remembered that there had been no phones, but he seemed to trail off, like he remembered something, but she didn't say anything.

"John says it works on gas, instead of electricity."`

Dean took a seat beside Selia, he felt a slight chill since his clothes were still partially damp, but he didn't mind. He turned to Selia and made a puzzled face. "A TV that works on gas? I had no idea that was even possible." He glanced over at the TV, curious as to how such an invention was created, but didn't bother looking further into it, since the workings of a gas powered television was the least of his questions.

"Well that would make sense I guess. I mean, John is the town's official tour guide and owner of the most popular hotel. But John Smith is a very common name. Almost too common. The fact that Dean now knew John's last name, he had an even bigger feeling that something was up with John. Like he was hiding something. After all, how many people had the name John Smith? It was way to generic.

John looked around Selia's room to see if she too had a cup hanging from the wall. Sure enough he found one near the door to her hotel room. And another near her bed. The were the same silver metal cups sitting upon a small wooden shelf, with a thick wire-like string attached to it. "Here, look. Dean got up and walked over to the cup near the door. "Do you ever remember creating telephones with paper cups and string? I think this is the same thing, only more professional. So if I'm right then... Dean grabbed the cup, and spoke into it, asking if anyone was there.

Only a moment or two passed before John's voice came through the cup saying, "Hello Selia. How may I help you? Would you like to take the town tour?"

When Dean sat next to her on the bed, she leaned towards him, and rested her head against his shoulder, and closed her eyes a slightly, but snapped open once she heard him speak. She also had no idea it was even possible, which made her slightly curious as to how one does make a TV work on gas, but she never liked TV's much anyway, since her father always told her how pointless they were, and that they were only used by lazy fools, who had nothing constructive to use with their time, and since Selia had plenty of training to do, she never spent time watching anything, though, every now and then when her father was gone she flipped through the channels, but didn't like any of the shows, all seemed... pointless.

"Well that would make sense I guess. I mean, John is the town's official tour guide and owner of the most popular hotel. But John Smith is a very common name. Almost too common."

She lifted her head and sat straight, and nodded. "I suppose it would make sense. I would just like to meet this mayor, but... then again, maybe not. The name is too common, and I don't like it, it gives me a strange feeling. Somethings not right here. I'm constantly uneasy, and don't trust this John Smith. He's not one to be trusted." She said, her voice grew harder with her words. Trust no one who gives you a odd feeling. That was one thing her father had told her, and then just, don't trust anyone at all, even if they are close, Selia recently decided not to believe that part, with Dean being a part of her life now.

Here, look. Do you ever remember creating telephones with paper cups and string? I think this is the same thing, only more professional. So if I'm right then..."

She looked at the cup hanging on the wall, and got up shortly after Dean had. She walked over to it, and stared at it a moment, then stared at Dean, a confused look falling over her face. Telephones with paper cups and string? She didn't understand that. In her childhood, she barely had any fun. No friends. No siblings. Nothing but a mother who got divorced from Selia's father, who then died to an unknown cause, and then her father, who made her train with weapons and hand-to-hand combat and a whole lot of other things after school. There was no time to figure out what normal kids did when they were young. She pondered on this a moment, then turned to look at the cup again.

"Never heard of such a thing." She said quietly, then watched as Dean spoke into it, and cocked her head slightly. Her head shot up though and her eyes widened when she heard John's voice.

"Hello Selia. How may I help you? Would you like to take the town tour?"

She looked uncertainly at Dean a moment, then looked at the cup, then stepped forward, and took the cup from Dean. Hesitating slightly, she spoke into it. "Not yet. Merely looking around and... seeing what this does. Seems we found out." She said, still a little uncertain. She wasn't ready to take a tour yet, since she wanted to get out of these clothes and rest, and to think.

"Never heard of such a thing."

Dean cocked in eyebrow to Selia's answer. It wasn't long before he remembered that Selia mentioned how her father made her train and practice everyday so she most likely wouldn't have been able to fit 'normal girl' into her schedule. "They're like really cheap walkie-talkies that we'd create when we'd play in a tree house or something."

"Not yet. Merely looking around and... seeing what this does. Seems we found out."

Dean remained silent as Selia removed the cup form his hand and spoke to John. Why would John think it was Selia speaking through the cup? "Ah, so Dean is with you now? Well, again, simply let me know when I may be of assistance. And my offer for a tour of the town still stands."

Just then, Dean got an idea. "John, what exactly does the tour include?" He knew that Selia didn't trust John, neither did he, but Selia wanted to meet the mayor, after all, he could clear some things up for them.

"Well, Dean, the tour includes a visit to the Smithy Center, where all the more popular stores reside, including a free meal from the popular restaurant Steel. And a quick visit to City Hall where you would be greeted by our very own Mayor Smith. Doesn't that sound like fun?"

Dean looked over at Selia, in a way that was asking her if they should take the tour. John said himself that they would meet the mysterious Mayor Smith, and it could possibly be their only chance of meeting with him, so they should probably take it. But Dean would do anything without Selia, especially wander around the town alone or something. He too had a bad feeling about all of it.

"They're like really cheap walkie-talkies that we'd create when we'd play in a tree house or something."

She thought about this moment, and wondered why anyone would want to make one, would it'd be just better to buy some walkie talkies, instead of using string and paper cups. She didn't see the point of such a thing, though, she never saw the point of children going to parks to run around, to have fun, though, she had to admit, she was a little jealous, the other kids got to have fun, while she was stuck in the back yard with fighting knives and tearing apart a dummy, and she remembered how she had mutilated one in frustration before she found the papers.

"Ah, so Dean is with you now? Well, again, simply let me know when I may be of assistance. And my offer for a tour of the town still stands."

She shuddered slightly when she heard John's voice, then she stood straight, a dull looking falling over her face. She bit her tongue to keep herself from snapping out in anger, wanting to scream at John for locking the door, and maybe stab him or something, even though the idea was oddly tempting, John wasn't even in the room, and if she did, it would just cause more problems for Dean and her. She tried to rid herself from that thought. She glanced at Dean when he ask what the tour offered.

She listened in silence, considering, then glanced about the room, then back to Dean who was watching her when John finished speaking. She sighed, then smiled slightly, and nodded her head a little, and she tried to ignore the growing fear she felt.

"Very well. If Dean doesn't have any objections for the tour, then we will go... in a hour. I need to get... something done." She said, but said the last part a bit quieter.
