"Remember when I told you I used to be an activist back in High School?"
Felix started his car engine and drove into the city. He just had some wonderful seafood with Toby, and now he was stuffed! Good food, good company, and a foil swan of leftovers at the backseat. Felix picked up a couple of beers at a 711, Budweiser, not the cheap kind, and drove to the destination.
This whole set-up made him nostalgic to his old High School days. He wasn't in contact with any of those people anymore, but he couldn't forget their antics, the bravery and bluster of youth. They often broke into places they shouldn't. Drank some beer, played some music. He wanted to share this particular trip with Toby because it was a special one for him, and one he thought he'd appreciate. He wanted to impress him, because he was really gay like that.
"I remember I mentioned we picketed this butcher shop ten years ago because it was popping up in the news that the meat was violating health codes. Unsanitary. Outbreaks of e.coli. Well, the story gets a little darker. The meat the guy was selling was human flesh. People were disappearing a while back. Turns out, they turned into Graham's beef tenderloin and choice cuts. When the police found out, ol' Billy Graham fled. Nobody's seen him since." He hummed. "My friends and I... back then did, ah, a little investigating of the place, and we found something the cops didn't. It was our secret hangout place for a while. We called it 'the butcher's second kitchen'."
Felix parked in front of the accounting office the old butcher shop was next to. What was once "Billy's Choice Cuts" got boarded up, sold for cheap because of the stories, and used as a room for inventory. Just the front, though. The back... nobody's touched the back in a long while. Felix liked to visit it from time to time when he needed to be alone and away from people. It was dusty and foul, with pests living inside the walls. Felix grabbed the beer and pulled a crowbar from the car floor, then gestured for Toby to follow him to the back.
"Don't worry. There's really nothing valuable of note inside, so there's no security." He stood in front of the back door and offered the crowbar to Toby. "Wanna do the honors?"
