Lochlann was Claustrophobic? And he was being nice because he needed to be? Well, the latter made sense if he was a Cannibal, sort of.

"Don't worry, I think I understand this thing a bit better." He lied, to conserve Lochlann's state of mind. It might help to keep him calm since Marcus now knew how to put things in it, but still had no clue.

There had to be something he was missing. Looking back through the pages, hopefully, he knew what to look for this time. Turning a page, he noticed a page was torn. "When did this happen?" He wondered. He usually looked after books quite well.

Almost putting it to the back of his mind, something seemed off. Something was missing. The bottle. Narrowing his eyes, he analyzed the book. Did he just have the wrong page? No, it was definitely gone.

"Hey, can you see that bottle I sent earlier?" He quickly sent to Lochlann. This just might be what he was looking for.

Marcus said don't worry and Lochlann tried not to worry.

But he was worrying.

Because the bottle was gone. Where the fuck had it gone? Lochlann rolled onto his stomach, picked himself up, and started to pace with the cigarette hanging from his lip. Okay, the bottle was gone. That had come in last. So next....Lochlann expected maybe the phone charger. That was going backwards in order, right? or maybe it was because it was on his person? Maybe the only way something could fade was if it was empty?

Why hadn't he faded already? He was pretty empty.

But maybe it was life.

Lochlann was starting to fret, worrying himself back and forth. It took him a long while to realize his phone had gone off. "No!" he texted. Then, "You did that, right? It didnt' just...vanish out of here?"

Okay, so if he was right in his guess, Marcus breaking the page should return Lochlann. Well, he at least no longer would be in the book. Lochlann had said the bottle wasn't there anymore, but Marcus couldn't see the bottle, so for all he knew, it had either returned or disappeared entirely. 50/50.

Well, it was a risk he was going to take. One hand held the book, while the other held the pages on Lochlann, preparing to pull them out. He was a bit hesitant, however. If he was wrong, Lochlann would be gone for good. It was honestly a strange sensation for him.

Now or never, He thought. Marcus ripped out the pages of the book. [Lochlann would now appear in the place he entered the book]

Lochlann was not good at many things.

His academics were tenuous at best. He couldn't drive a car. He had a difficult time following a schedule. Staying calm was something else Lochlann wasn't good at.

So, when he took a deep breath and then, in a blink of an eye, Marcus was right in front of him, their faces inches apart, just like they'd been moments before, Lochlann let out a strangled sound that was, oddly enough, reminiscent of a horse's whinny.

He jerked backwards and fell onto his ass.

At least, if anything, he kept the cigarette in his mouth.

He took it out, coughed, and looked up at Marcus. His eyes were wide and his heart was racing.

'Okay," Lochlann said. "That was.....okay. I'm going back to bed after this. Today has been weird and I haven't even been up that long."

He gave a nervous cough that might have been an attempt at laughing and said, 'Thanks for getting me out of there."

Did he just whinny? "I thought I told you to stay calm?" Marcus Laughed. They were back in the awkward position that started this whole mess, although the cigarette smoke flying into his nose was new. He coughed, covering his mouth as Lochlann fell.

That was an experience he didn't wish to repeat. "I'd have to agree with going to bed. That was too weird. At least I now know what the book does."

Lochlann took a deep breath and then exhaled.

After a moment, he gave another, shakier breath.

"Okay," he said. He touched the ground beneath him with his hands, reassuring himself that the ground was indeed real and that there was a horizon line. He took a deep breath and said, just to clarify, "So....the book...sucks people into it?"

He brought the cigarette up to his lips and realized his hands were shaking.

He gave a nervous laugh and said, "Does the book do that on its own or because you're the one wielding it?"

He must have been terrified, Marcus thought, observing Lochlann's actions. Fortunately, he wasn't in there longer.

"Uh, I guess so. Maybe it's some old magic Data collector?" He guessed. Now that he knew what it did, it'd be easier to research. There had to be some record of a Book like that, especially in this library.

The question made him pause for a moment. Did it work for only him? "I'm not sure, maybe you should try using it."

Lochlann didn't quite visibly reel at the idea of sucking Marcus into the book, but his eyebrows did do something strange where they weren't sure if they should shoot up in surprise or furrow together in thought.

Lochlann chewed on the end of his cigarette instead. It was a very bad idea.

He said, "I'm not so sure that's a good idea. I mean like, my uh....abilities...have nothing to do with books."

He tread very carefully with how he worded that, oblivious to the fact that Marcus had a little bit of insight. "I'd need you to tell me exactly how you got me in the book and exactly how you got me out....and also...who I should talk to if I can't get you out."

"I'm just checking." Marcus quickly answered. "It might just be that my powers activate its effect, or because it makes sense giving a book to me."

Lochlann seemed reluctant to try it. It made sense, he himself wasn't sure if it was a good idea."Well, um," Hopefully what he learned was correct. "Well, I held the book to you. I think it was the chest area, That's where it was when you landed on me.

"To get me out, I just ripped out the pages with you on it." That was the important part. But who to talk to if he was stuck? Marcus wasn't sure. maybe his teachers? They'd send a letter to his parents, of course. But what then?

Lochlann nodded.

"Okay," he said. "Let's do this. If I can't get you out, I'm going right to the infirmary with the book."

Lochlann checked his phone again to make sure it was still working; the power level had gone up considerably, and since he was out he could always run home for his charger if he needed. Lochlann finished the last of his cigarette, crushed the butt beneath his feet and then flicked it into the trashcan.

"Alright," he said, and he reached out for the book. Should Marcus pass it to him, Lochlann would press it against Marcus's torso just as it had been on his own....though without the far too intimate pose. He would ask, "How long should we hold it here?"
