He shouldn't be surprised if the Infirmary was actually able to help. A million different species on the island and one of them was bound to have been stuck in a book.

"I'm not sure, to be honest." He held up his watch. "You just hold it to me, and I'll measure how long it takes."

"Okay," Lochlann said.

He did just that: taking the book carefully, he pressed it against Marcus's body much like the book had been pressed against his own body only very recently. Lochlnan wasn't good at time; he was certain he hadn't been in the book very long but that already felt like hours to him.

He was definitely going to bed after this.

'Am i supposed to do anything else?" Lochlann asked, holding the book in place.

He stood still, alternating between looking at his watch and the book. The wait seemed like forever. "I don't think you have to do anything else."

((Because it will only work when held by a Libriomancer, I'll just continue))

As the seconds went past, it became more unlikely that it was going to work, since here definitely was under Lochlann for much longer than ten seconds. "Hey, I'm beginning to think it only works with me."

Lochlann's face was a mask of pure concentration.

He wasn't sure how long he was supposed to stand there, holding the book against Marcus, but when the other boy relieved him of the duty, Lochlann returned the book to him.

"Okay," he said. His voice still had a shaky laugh with it. "That was...well that was something. Have to admit, I'm kind of glad it didn't work."

He scratched the back of his neck and then asked, "So uh...now what?"

Taking the book back, Marcus put it under his arm. If it only worked when he touched it, then he had to be careful with what he let it touch.

If anything he was a little disappointed. It would have been interesting to see what it was like inside the book, and maybe see how the book would have described him. "Maybe it was for the best."

Now what? "Uh, I'm not sure." What were you supposed to do after finding out you can trap people in a book?

"Alright, well then," Lochlann said. He picked himself up off the ground and made a face that wasn't entirely smiling but wasn't exactly a frown, either. "I'm not too sure what else to do, either, so I think I'm...going to go do something."

His fingers went to his pocket. He should buy more cigarettes and pick up some apples. Yeah, that sounded good.

"I'd like to say it's been fun, Marcus, but that was an experience and one I hope I don't have to repeat," he laughed now, but it was tired. "I'll see you around I guess?"

ooc: Wrap it up here? Unless you need a few more posts for your upgrade, in which case I'd be happy to have Lochlann freak out a little.
