Ezra went through the checklist once again. Asteria had always left the Sho'lai an important document when hosting people at the home. An assortment of finger foods and drinks were ready and available for guests and if anything further was needed, a phone call could quickly solve any issue. The sitting area was pristine and ready for anyone who wish to take a seat, complete with soft instrumental ambient music playing to "set the mood", whatever that was supposed to mean. Ezra did not plan on questioning it further, as the meeting time was quickly approaching and they had to be ready.

Yuki was an interesting person to the Sho'lai but had no issue telling them some truths about their relationship with Tadashi and what it had meant. His push had allowed Ezra to reach out and speak to the bakeneko and re-establish the previously shredded connection. It was by no means perfect but Yuki's advice had been useful so far and Ezra was limited on who they could talk to about these sorts of things. All they had to do now was wait for Yuki to hit the intercom and get up the driveway, and then the next lesson in relationships could begin.

Yuki wandered up the big path, professor-like clothing donned and glasses on. He didn't need them to see or anything, but he just kind of liked the teacher-ish look they gave him.

It was kind of surprising that Ezra seemed to live in such a big estate, but Yuki wasn't going to question it any time soon. Clearly Yuki didn't know much about the person, only that they were nice enough and seemed to take a shine to Yuki somehow. Today he was going to help Ezra learn how to maintain relationships and socialise! While perhaps in some aspects Yuki was not the best suited for this, his social butterfly persona definitely was - as the result of training in psychological manipulation (mostly positive, to quickly form bonds) and etiquette training, his experiences would almost certainly serve useful.

And if that wasn't enough, he had a bunch of great books - all the classics like Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People. Sure, it was filled with assumptions and outdated references, but the underlying principles were time-tested!

Pressing the intercom and being let in to the place, Yuki went over what he'd studied once more in his head.

The ever-familiar buzz of someone at the door. Ezra floated from the sitting room to the front door, making sure that their outfit was as pristine as possible before opening the door. They had chosen to wear a sleeveless black dress with a white sash over the waist and a pair of black slip-on shoes to match. It wasn't the fanciest outfit that Ezra could have picked but it was appropriate enough. Their hair was in a casual ponytail, barely reaching past their shoulders. Ezra's hands, however, were still wrapped in the familiar white wrappings they usually had. They opened the door and stared at Yuki for a long moment, assessing the outfit before stepping to the side.

"Welcome to my current living domicile, Mister Yuki. I thank you for taking time out of your schedule to assist me in my current endeavor. Please feel free to set any items you are carrying down into the sitting room and partake in the food and drink I have readied for us. If you have different dietary requirements that need to be met, I will do my best to accommodate them as quickly as possible."

They motioned towards an opening on the left of the entryway, where a section of the sitting room was visible.

Yuki blinked a little at Ezra's choice of clothing, having been expecting a more gender-neutral look from his acquaintance. It didn't matter anyway, he supposed, considering he'd seen stranger things in his time here on the islands. He bowed politely, adjusting his glasses a little for effect as he smiled. He could hear music in the background - was that a study mix? The boy tried hard to stifle a giggle. He wasn't sure that it was quite appropriate for the meeting, but he supposed it worked. It felt a little awkward to be over at someone else's house, though. With Ganymede, it was kind of spur of the moment, but this time the visit was planned. Not to mention he didn't know Ezra that well.

"I appreciate the invitation you have extended to me." He responded, entering the hallway and hesitating on whether or not to take his shoes off before noticing Ezra had their own on. Alright, Yuki supposed this wasn't the kind of place you took your shoes off in. "I appreciate the offer, and shall do so."

He headed towards the sitting room and took out his laptop, looking for a screen to connect it to. "Do you have a projector of some sort? I have prepared a PowerPoint presentation today. I hope that it will prove useful to today's session."
He also took out a small notebook labelled "teaching" and a stylish ballpoint pen - it had been a gift from his brother for his birthday. "But really, first of all, please take a seat. Let us discuss your current standings with Tadashi." Yuki paused before continuing, a little awkwardly. "And if possible, might we use casual speech? It feels a little stiff to speak so formally in such an intimate setting..."

Ezra followed behind quietly, eventually taking a seat in one of the chairs and facing Yuki as he spoke. Apparently the boy had brought a laptop for a presentation? This was a most fortunate circumstance considering that Ezra had been expecting a simple conversation and advice, not a full lesson. The Sho'lai would be get to have a much more informative education than previously believed.

"I believe that we could project it to the television through a wireless connection but I do not know how to do that. My technological understanding is rather... limited. Would it be acceptable to just look at your personal computer for the presentation?" Ezra tilted their head slightly, switching their gaze between the laptop and Yuki.

"I will also apologize that my speech is considered formal. I do not quite have the linguistic comprehension to speak in a more "casual speech", unfortunately. You are quite free to do so and I will attempt to do the same but understand that most of my attempts at casual conversation are not quite up to the expected level as someone of my age appears to have."

"As far as my conversation with Tadashi went, it was complicated. I confessed to my absence from the island and why I was unable to reach out to him during that time. He was understanding, but upset? The conversation did lead to what I would assume is a high amount of stress and eventually the conversation would end as Tadashi reached a point of exhaustion where conversation was no longer viable. I took him home and we have not spoken since."

"Of course, that is more than alright." He smiled courteously, setting the laptop down on the table as he rearranged the food (hopefully Ezra wouldn't mind) to make room for it. The PowerPoint was titled - Friendship advice: make one, keep one, be one. "And no worries, just be aware that I may switch between the two for the sake of examples during roleplay - which we shall do, should you find it not too taxing." The white-haired boy adjusted his glasses, settling into his seat more. He was now in a realm more comfortable to him - soon he would begin training Ezra the way he had been trained. His tutoring sessions had not gone to waste!

"I see..." He nodded, taking a water bottle out of his bag and having a sip. "It sounds like Tadashi is unwilling to begin a dialogue. That's a problem. Communication is the foundation of any relationship, platonic or otherwise..." He said, taking notes. The PowerPoint (and Yuki's training) were built on the assumption that the would-be or current friend wasn't hostile, so perhaps he'd have to come up with strategies on how to deal with a broken relationship.
"It sounds like you already owned up to your part in the breakdown, and this is good. It's the first step to making amends. I would assume you've also apologised? Did you manage to show strong emotion?" He asked, tapping the edge of his pen on his cheek. This would be something interesting, considering his friend always seemed to be rather monotone in voice and expression. If Ezra could portray physically their regret, it would be very useful in them becoming friends with Tadashi once more.

Ezra paused at the mention of 'roleplay'. What, exactly, did Yuki mean by that? Were they going to attempt some sort of acting exercise? That sounds like it could be a valuable learning experience on communication. They watched their social mentor sip water and discuss the idea of Tadashi not beginning a dialogue. It was true that Tadashi had not reached out since their last encounter but Ezra did not wish to be a pest and push their friend further away. But not conversing with Tadashi would also eventually have the two drift apart as well.

"I am unable to show 'strong emotion'. I am barely capable of feeling any of them. Attempting to match my physicality to the corresponding emotion is currently out of my capabilities. I am aware that being unable to perform this function severely hampers my ability to emotionally connect with others but I still wish to do so. I do enjoy Tadashi's company very much."

Yuki nodded sympathetically, humming as he took Ezra's words into account. Okay, so it sounded like Ezra had made the first move. That was good. Ezra also seemed serious about fixing their friendship - also good. Hopefully Tadashi would have realised that already by this point, and at least begun to consider the possibility of mending their relationship.

"Alright. If you can't do it, it can't be helped. Then, if you wouldn't mind, could you tell me about what happened in more detail? Did he ask for some time alone again? Did you two argue?"

Ezra paused. Although it was important to explain the situation fulling to Yuki so he could explain the next step in fixing their relationship with Tadashi, it was also complicated because it meant revealing their secret to a near stranger. They had already told Tadashi but that was different. Tadashi was different. He was worth whatever happened after. The bakeneko was Ezra's first friend and, therefore, the most important.

"It is a complicated matter to explain. I do not mean to offend you but I do not believe we are close enough to be trusted with some of the information I discussed but I will do my best to explain without delving into my history." Ezra stated plainly, pausing for a moment to take a sip out of a nearby glass.

"I disappeared for six months without so much as a message or phone call. Tadashi thought that I abandoned him. I told him the truth regarding everything I knew and what I had learned: the truth about my heritage, what I had become, what had happened to me back when I was first found by my current guardian, all of it. It was not a happy conversation to have. Tadashi did not trust me; everything he had known about me had been a lie, according to him. I tried to assuage his worries but he was adamant in his viewpoint on me. He did not, however, push me away. He stayed until the stress left him exhausted. There was no argument beyond that."

Yuki felt his stress level increase slightly. Clearly helping Ezra with their friendship problems was something deeper than he had initially expected. A six-month absence? Ezra discovering they were something completely different than they had originally believed? It all sounded like something coming out of a novel (although he supposed that everything on the islands, including himself, could be considered something strange enough to be considered fiction.)

He paused for a moment, unsure of how to respond as he racked his brain as quickly as he could for things he had learnt – anything, anything at all that could possibly apply to this situation. Unfortunately, his training had all taken place in the Narrow Reality. Things like someone finding out they had different heritage to what they thought they had or becoming a completely different person in about six months (if that was roughly what had happened) were situations that he had not been trained to handle. In fact, a lot of his training had been in a business context – in preparation for his future in the financial world. None of that would be of much use here...

The snow-haired youth was quickly realising that he might have bitten off more than he could chew.

"Well, the fact that he didn't push you away is already promising. Perhaps this friendship is very much salvageable." He mused aloud. "I believe the next appropriate course of action would be another meeting. Tadashi seems to care about you very much, from what I hear, but also... he is anguished. Very much so...or at least, the one time I bumped into him he'd given me that impression." Yuki heard himself, taking a mental step back. Whoa. When did he learn how to sound so neutral? "My training would suggest that asking why, looking for who to blame and trying to force reciprocity are things to avoid doing during said meeting. Unfortunately, I was not trained in the specifics of the situation you provided... My training did not consider the possibility of such dramatic events occuring between friends."
