''We can head straight down there, then'', Lionel said as Volkan expressed interest in the Pier. ''Getting there would require passing through most of the city anyway, so it's not like we would be skipping anything really'', he said, giving a small grin. ''We would just be heading somewhere instead of walking around aimlessly'', he shrugged in the end, just as they food arrived. Everything set in front of them was delicious, and for a while, they both ate in silence.

''Yeah, sure, up to a certain point. There is a good enough flash on it for me to take pictures of things that need light, as well as a solid night mode'', he said then, answering Volkan's question about his camera with a bright grin on his face. ''Some things though just don't turn out right without natural light, so my options are still a bit limited, but it doesn't matter. This is a tour, if I see something I really want to take a picture of, I'll come back tomorrow, or some other day'', he said, thinking how that would probably end up being the case. Some things simply turned awkward when lit with a flash. Like the ocean, for example, or anything else reflecting light.

"But... Things are different in the night. It's not the same, there's... there's something majestic in the dark that daylight lacks... don't you think?"

Volkan's words escaped his lips smoothly; that was after finishing his meal. While he didn't like speaking out his opinions, this one didn't seem to hurt anyone anyway. He loved the night, because his flames were much more beautiful when it's enveloped by darkness. It's the same for everything else, he thought.

"Oh, please, let me pay for our meal," he said, once they were both done and there really was no more reason for them to stay here. Volkan called for the waiter and their bill, so they could leave sooner, and head to the pier before the sky even gets too dark.

They left, and for a moment, Volkan stared at the purple early evening sky, watching as the stars began to twinkle. And then he glanced back at Lionel, wondering if the guy loved dusk as much as he did. "Shall we?"

''Yeah, definitely'', Lionel agreed with Volkan's opinion almost immediately, his reply delayed slightly simply because he had just stuffed the last piece of his desert into his mouth. ''Things definitely look different in the dark, sometimes even completely. Things not so scary in the light suddenly turn into a nightmare after dark and so on'', he said, his voice showing his passion as it grew as bright as his grin.

''Most of that, though, doesn't transfer all that well on camera'', he said, then sighing lightly in disappointment. ''It's like you can see the Moon with your naked eye just right, right?'', he said, his hand making gestures to point to the sky. ''But on camera, it just looks like a blob'', he said, pointing to the machine with his other hand. ''If you haven't made right adjustments that is or the camera is just of too low of a quality, but that is not the point'', he said then before smiling at Volkan yet again. ''Which I think you probably got. Hopefully.''

When Volkan offered to pay for his food, Lionel's first instinct was to say no, he had ordered a bunch and he had more than enough money, what with both working at the circus and receiving money regularly from his parents. He was too late to do so, however, as the waiter was already there, and he couldn't fight Volkan in front of him.

Besides. Paying the man back for lunch gave him a perfect excuse to invite him out again, he thought, before mentally sighing. Sometimes, for all his mental abilities, he still had a one track mind.

''Yeah, let's go'', he said as Volkan asked if they will be going. ''This way'', he said, pointing down the street before heading slowly in the same direction.

Volkan's eyes have become more exploring after their talk about the dark, as if he's started to become more aware of it as the colors around them turned darker and darker, and after a few more minutes of walking, were only exposed by man-made lighting around the city.

He kept close to Lionel, somewhat worried the dark could separate them, but he knew how to fight the dark, and was always so confident when it came to his power. Still, he made sure not to wonder off, and he kept himself alert for the sound of the waves, a music he hasn't heard ever since his first day here.

He caught it a few more minutes later, and he really had to thank the night, for concealing how his head jerked towards the sound like an excited child. He was already all grown up, after all, and was standing at six and a half feet.

He was embarrassed for himself, despite knowing he had no reason to be, if the night did conceal that simple act well.

"W-We're here?" he asked, feeling the ground beneath him turn into wood, and hearing its creaking sound at every step he and Lionel made. He slowed down a little, letting the other walk ahead of him for a while.

''Yup, we're here'', Lionel said, the excitement slowly showing through his voice steadily transferring into his step and eyes as well as they got closer and closer to the pier. Working in circus or not, twenty odd years old or not, he loved the pier, and the amusement park there, and was not afraid to show it.

''A little bit earlier than I though we'd be, though'', he said, stopping by the very edge of the pier and slowly unpacking his camera. ''We haven't really seen much on the way here, did we?'', he sighed, the camera now in his hands. ''I'll be done in a minute, I promise'', he said then, without apologizing, as he was already sure that Volkan wouldn't mind all that much... though it did still make him feel somewhat selfish and a bad tour guide.

Taking the pictures of the lights and rides in the amusement park was not something he could miss though. They always turned out amazing, and later carried fond memories with them. Focusing his camera first on the whole of park, then on some specific decorations and lights, he made a few shots one right after another.

''I might stop to make a few more once we are closer'', he said as he put the camera around his neck rather than in the bag, knowing he would only be getting it back out soon. ''Also, a fair warning: I will want to go on all the rides. Do not let me'', he said, giving Volkan a fake meaningful look. Mirth could easily be seen behind it. ''And especially do not offer to pay for them, you'll go broke'', he added as they neared the other end of he pier. ''If I get too caught up remind me can't really see the boats once it is too dark.''

Volkan wished he could be as openly excited about things as Lionel was. The other male was adorable like this, he realized, and if the camera were in his hands, he probably wouldn't let this go without some photos.

It was entirely different for the other way around, though. He would not look good being so excited like this. He was buff, and huge, and full of scars, and he seriously needed to stop thinking so negatively but he couldn't really help it.

But while these thoughts were forming, Volkan was to form a very small smile on his lips, and nod at Lionel. "Got it," he said, as he continued to walk a couple of steps behind him. The wood against their feet, the waves against the rocks, and the distant sound of crowds in the amusement park, they were all such beautiful music to Volkan's ears, and hearing them already gave him enough satisfaction that this was actually enough for this trip.

Of course, he didn't mind spending more time here.

"What about the boats?"

''Hm?'', Lionel said, having gotten lost in his own thoughts as he watched the lights moving around the amusement park. ''Ah, it's nothing special really, but there is a lot of them around here, and they are pretty to look at at the evening or something'', he said, focusing once again on what was right in front of him, which was a lose floor board over which he happily jumped over. ''Not so much once has gone completely down, though, so just remind me of that if you need to get me away from the games or something. And to be fair, I will probably get lost the games.''

He always would, ever since he was a child, when going to a nearest amusement park would mean family time and a break from whatever facility his mother was working on or a landscape his father was taking photos of. Not that he exactly needed a break, he was very much in love with both of his parents' work places, almost as much as they were, but family time was always cool and would never go amiss.

''Let's do that first, I haven't failed badly at anything for a while'', Lionel said suddenly, pointing towards a one of those booths where you tried wining stuffed animals by trying to bring down probably rigged pyramids of bottles.

"Mm." Volkan nodded, following Lionel through the amusement park, despite not being so excited about the rides and the games themselves. He'd probably prefer the boats, but he was willing to admit that one must be much more boring than this. It's just that he's lived in a circus ever since he was an early teenager, so these were all usual things to him now.

But Lionel was so fun to observe, even though that fun would never show on Volkan's straight face. After all, it only escaped hum through the glimmer in his eyes, and that was going to be hard to see at dusk. Volkan turned to the booth Lionel pointed, and nodded again, and followed to that direction.

It was just a random thought that actually slipped past his lips accidentally, but he asked, "You like stuffed animals?" And it was actually rather cute, and amusing, the small upward tug on Volkan's lips looked more sinister than it was adoring.

''Not especially?'', Lionel asked as he stood in line behind some boys at the booth. ''I told you, I just haven't failed especially badly at anything recently'', he said, humming to himself as he watched the boys throw at the bottles and strike and fail at different throws. ''I kind of just want to play a game'', he added a bit sheepishly a few moments later. ''It didn't really matter which one. Though'', he said, his eyes brightening up as it landed on a giant, stuffed, black maned lion hanging right above the line of bottles, ''I certainly wouldn't mind winning that.''

''It is the main prize'', the man he had handed money to informed them as he gave Lionel the three balls he had to throw. ''Ah, yeah, no I won't be winning that then probably'', the young man said then, still smiling, before proceeding to try still.

''You know, I just remembered that all of this is probably pretty boring to you'', he said as he played with a small stuffed monkey-the thing was no bigger than his hand-he had won instead of the lion. ''Having lived in a circus your whole life and all. We can just go watch the boats right now if you wish? This really is the most fun thing on the pier besides that. And it probably isn't all that fun to you.''

Volkan stood beside Lionel in the line, and kept himself beside the booth once it was Lionel's turn to play. His arms were crossed and his face seemed to have intimidated a few people passing by, or some in the line, but he wasn't frowning. While games in general did not amaze him, after all, Lionel trying to play surely was.

"I don't mind 'f you wanna stay longer," he answered him. Really, there was no reason to rush, maybe aside from the fact that it's dark and the dormitory might have a curfew. The Circus wasn't until midnight so he himself still had plenty of time.

"I don't mind going to the boats either," he added, shrugging. "Up to you, really."
