And then they were given the menu, which was, at least in Aura's opinion, not all that necessary. Still, she decided to take a look, just to see what kind of meals they had. Or what kind of roasted meat they were serving.

She was immediately attracted to the huge burger that used roasted beef for meat. It had some fries on the side and a free glass of iced tea. To a hungry person, it seemed all too good. She can't fight the temptation at all.

So that's what she ordered. And then she turned to Cadence. "Have you decided what to eat? This lunch is on me so don't worry about it." She wished Cadence wouldn't order something VERY expensive though.

The menu looked great. Meats galore. Cadence glanced at burgers, lamb chops, ribs, the lot. In the end she went for the grilled chicken and chips. Gorgeous. And lemonade. Not a large meal, cheap, perfect.

"Yeah, but let me pay," she insisted. After all, she was older. And all that was needed was a little... persuasion... for a free lunch. It was so easy, and it doesn't hurt anyone. Well, anyone she knew, anyway. "At least let me buy mine." Or, she thought, let me get it on the house.

"Oh, well, suit yourself." Aura made a lighthearted shrug. The waiter immediately left after both said their orders, which means they were yet again, in a sense, alone. It was strange being alone with a stranger. But at least it wasn't a crowd, so Aura was fine with that. "So Cadence," she put her elbows on the table and rested her head on her hands. She was smiling at Cadence brightly, curiously, mostly because she really found her interesting.

"What do you usually do?" she asked. "I mean, aside from what I already know."

"I design clothes. But... not professionally. I studied fashion design in college," Cadence replied, curious to know what Aura did, "And you?" She had guessed the girl was about seventeen or eighteen, so still in school, perhaps first year in college. She kept her siblings a secret for now. She was hoping to get them all together for their birthday.

Clothes, huh? Aura immediately looked Cadence's dress over and smiled approvingly. The woman was probably a good, designer, she thought. "How lovely! I bet your designs are really wonderful," she said, leaning against the table more. "As for me, well, I'm still in college. Majoring in literature, just following my dad's footsteps." She shrugged, and turned her eyes to the ocean. It was still so vast and inviting from where they were, even though they already distanced from it a bit.

The vastness reminded her of her father, who's been missing for eight years now. Because she had no idea where to look for him, and the thought was the only thing that was able to drown her.

"Maybe if I become a professor, I can go on field researches too someday, and finally find where my dad disappeared."

"Thank you," Cadence answered, before listening to Aura's words. Literature was a major the siren had never considered, but everybody had their reasons. Following footsteps was something Cadence had attempted to avoid. "I hope your collage work goes well."

"Your father disappeared?" How tragic. Cadence felt a bit pitiful. For someone you care about to disappear was probably extremely upsetting. Perhaps that was how her family felt when she left home. "I think it is a worthy ambition to bring him back. I wish you the best of luck."

As she stopped speaking, the smell of meat touched her nose, and made her feel hungry. Just at that moment, the waiter reappeared with their meals. Cadence couldn't help but notice that said meals looked rather tasty. Perhaps she had not realised how much she desired food.

"Bon appétit."

"Oh, why thank you." Aura was pretty struck to hear how Cadence gave some empathy, and she genuinely appreciated it. Her face also showed her genuine surprise.

Their food finally came, and Aura actually had to stop and control herself from staring at the mouthwatering food as the waiter delivered it to their table. She grinned as they were set down, and smiled briefly at Cadence as she copied, "Bon Appétit."

Aura wasn't the kind to talk while eating. She was just deep in thought the whole time, continuing to take note of small observations she'd make on the food, the table, Cadence's mannerisms, the staff, the scenery, etc.

So in other words, her eyes were very restless the whole time. But only her eyes.
