Somewhere Around the Lake

Cean yawned as he slowly shifted his weight to his right. As usual, his wings are in the way to make him feel comfortable while lieying down; frustrated, the hybrid decided to sit instead, his back pressed against the trunk of the large tree he's under.

He ran away again from his psychiatrist - for the nth time this month - and he was lucky enough to find no lurking creature near the famous lake. For now it was a perfect hideaway, a solitude from the rest of the universe

Who can blame him? The staff looks so terrified every time he'll walk in, his wings barely getting through.

And it's always the same thing anyway:
"How are you?", "How are you feeling?", "Ready to talk about your past?"

How is that supposed to help him?

His frustration crept up higher and made him hot with anger. Cean tried his best to control what he's feeling so instead he let his hands slip through locks of his hair as he pulled — pulled hard, drowning in the feeling of pain once again.

When he calmed down, oh dear heavens thank God he calmed down, Cean looked at the still lake, inhaled, and smirked to himself.

Lark will surely scold him again at dinner.

'No lurking creature near the lake' wasn't something that would remain true for long, not with Basil out and about. He was a little more inconspicuous than usual, though, as the deep water was muffling his awful aura.

It made sense, really, that something like him would be so at home and hidden away in deep, dark water. There was a heaviness to it, an overwhelming aspect that could almost fight with his own. Many ominous things could be found, especially, in the depths of oceans. Eldritch beings were no strangers to the landscape. Exploring underwater areas were always a pleasure- they held so many secrets! Basil was taking his time with the lake, and really, was more having fun than investigating. Not having to come up to breathe helped with all of that. He just felt like he could spread himself out a little more in the water, and not worry about hurting or alarming others with it. Stretch out past the humanoid container he was in.

Water felt familiar in a way he couldn't really explain.

Basil decided it was time to take a break from looking for underwater ruins. He swam back in the direction of the shore where he'd stashed a change of clothes. While Basil himself had that uncanny ability- the one where he never really got 'wet' like others did- his clothes weren't the same. Sometimes, he forgot about this, and simply dived into water fully clothed... but he was really trying to fix that habit. Besides, swimming with a bathing suit like people were intended to- shockingly- made the whole thing way easier. Who knew. At all fun swim trunks were, Basil had decided, hard to find- but he'd managed to get some with a cute little anchor pattern on them. Eldritch Horrors didn't deserve any less.

Although, when Basil popped his head out of the water, there was someone else already under the tree he'd left his bag of clothes near. He blinked, eyeing the other for a moment. Smelled interesting, looked kind of in his own world. Basil hummed, and decided since he needed to grab his stuff anyway, he'd try saying hi. He liked the look of those wings. If the guy acted too grouchy, though, Basil would probably leave him alone. Probably.

As he trotted out of the water, quickly looking as dry as ever, his unnatural energy filled the air and he raised a hand in a small wave.

"'Ello! Nice wings you got there, pal. Sorry sorry, I just left some stuff here, won't bother you too much unless you want to be bothered," He explained, winding around behind the tree as he spoke to make his point. He found his bag, pulled a lavender t-shirt over his head, and came back around to stand in front of his newest find. He grinned sharply. "So. Would you like to be bothered? I haven't met you before, but you've got a vibe I like."

Cean felt it.
That unstable energy oozing out from under the water, at first he paid no attention to it since well... this academy is practically oozing with every unusual aura there is.

This one though, unlike all the others he'd encountered, carried an aura slightly akin to his and that made the hybrid rather comfortable. (Can you believe it for the first time he felt comfortable!)

He watched as the water from the lake was disturbed when a figure came out of it, and more so when that creature came near him and greeted him casually that it scared him a little — no one in this island ever treated him so normal (even Lark makes it hard to breathe sometimes).

Far from what Cean realized, he was still wearing that smirk he had awhile ago, and when the other creature asked him if it's okay to be bothered, Cean couldn't help but smile wider.
"Same thing I'll say," he started, his husky voice finally meeting with the air. "Bother me as much as you like."

Finally, someone interesting.

Basil clapped his hands together, beaming. "Lovely, lovely! Hopefully, you won't regret that invitation. Too late to go back now." The young monster turned, and
