Something Entirely New

They hadn't talked as much after Logan sent him a text. He didn't pester him after that. He let the Runway start and end, helped people clear out and clean up, and called the movers back in to take Antoinette's art back to the gallery an hour before the next Ballroom event started. Dorian knew how to put something aside for his peace of mind, but now that it was over...

Quite frankly, he was extremely nervous. It didn't seem bad, but his heart was racing all the same. It was a very "we need to talk" text, and those were never good. A million of possibilities was floating around his head. It went straight to the worst case scenarios, like Logan wanting to elope with him, or maybe mind erasure. It didn't sound like they were going to break up, but it felt that way.

He couldn't let go. Not yet.

Dorian texted him that he was in the dressing room behind the ballroom. He was back to his normal fall outfit, make-out wiped off. He thrummed his fingers on the table. That afternoon, nothing else mattered but this.

Logan practically ran to go meet up with Dorian after the runway. He'd been his usual quiet, polite and charming self outwardly, nothing amiss, but a restless ball of energy inside that felt ready to explode.

And explode it did. As soon as he scrambled into the dressing room, shutting the door behind him, cheeks burning, he looked Dorian right in the eye and burst out with "I want to be a girl!"

When the words caught up with him, he only turned further red. He was quick to play catch up, scrubbing his face. "I-I mean, let me start from the beginning so that doesn't sound-- different than what I mean. Shit. I didn't think saying this out loud through very much. My thoughts are all-- jumbled, you know? Let me try that again." He shook his head, pressing his back to the door and slowly sinking to the floor, like he had back in that storage closet with Anthia.

"I was thinking. And hurting. And I kept coming back to, why couldn't I have been born a girl, why can't I have a different life? But I can't leave behind this one, either, I can't break and have it fall apart so quickly, I-I'm just seventeen and it's been my whole life, so I--"

He breathed. "We have magic here. Becoming someone else, with a little effort, wouldn't be as difficult as it sounds. You don't even have to make it permanent, because we have glamour. Changes at the flip of a switch, without all the danger and trapping, imagine that. I could be your girlfriend. I could be someone without any pressures and insecurities, sometimes, if I wanted. Hell, we could even use it as an election strategy! A pretty girl, advertising the Crawford campaign. Sounds fantastic, right? ...Right?"

A moment of quiet for Logan. He peeked out at Dorian, looking at him from between his fingers, giving a shaky smile. "So what do you think? Am I crazy?"

Dorian's heart leaped in his chest as soon as the door opened, but there was no awkward silence or heartbreaking announcements. Instead, Logan said he wanted to be a girl. That — that wasn't bad at all, but Dorian was still reeling, staring at his bunny with his eyebrows raised. Dorian stood as Logan sank down, listening to his revelations, moving closer and closer to him.

It was a crazy idea, like something out of a Hollywood teen movie, but with Logan's life it just seemed like it was going to work. He'd always thought about it. His family's strict rules always bogged Logan down, and to a lesser extent, Dorian. When Logan covered his face with his hands, insecure about how he'll react, Dorian took his hands into his own and pulled him up to to give him a kiss on the lips.

"It's not crazy at all! It might just work. Would that be alright with you? Being a girl? I hope you're not just doing this for me..." He didn't want that, no, but the concept of pretty Logan being a girl was dazzling to think about. "We'll have to get you a new name, a new backstory. Do you want to hash the details out in private?" He rubbed his nose to her head. "Imagine! You can do whatever you want, be whatever you want. You won't have to worry about anything at all. You'll be free. Sky's the limit!"

Logan shivered when kissed, moving closer, clinging all too much once he'd been given the chance. He buried his face in Dorian's chest, clutching at his shirt, fingers tight. He chuckled softly. "I'm fine with it, Dorian. I'm a model, aren't I? It's like dressup. I've always been a good actor, for reasons you can guess, I'm sure. I don't know. I think playing a girl could be fun. I'll hear all the gossip, and some of those dumbass boys will finally pay attention to me, if I act ditzy enough, buy into it completely. It sounds hilarious, quite frankly."

A pause. The unicorn kept his head ducked. "Her name is Jeanette," he said, softly, with a light chuckle. "Jeanette Graham. She's been away from Manta Carlos for almost her whole life, thanks to her parents having divorced very early. Born here, then moved to France. Boarding school, modeling in the summers, living with her mother and sending her dad letters sometimes, which mom never liked much. After turning eighteen and graduating, she came back to live with relatives and her dad again. Last month, so very new, quite excited about it all. Dating you in secret because of you being her boss, of course."

He sucked in a breath. "…And she's a bunny. A bunny girl. Can't have unicorn features, but can't be bland, either. I um, haven't been able to stop thinking about this, not once, since earlier." A sheepish laugh followed.

"Jeanette, huh? Jeanie Graham the French Bunny Girl. That's really cute." Dorian rubbed his back, nuzzling his head a little. He wondered if Logan got the bunny girl idea from his nickname. Flattering, if so. He couldn't say he minded the prospect of having a cute bunny girlfriend at all. "Sounds like you've thought this through!"

He pulled back and took both of Logan's hands into his. He smiled. "We'll be busy this week, but when the weekend hits, let's get everything set up, get you clothes and glamour. How does that sound, Jeanette?"

Really, if he could shirk all his responsibilities to buy his boyfriend pretty dresses, that would be the dream, but he couldn't leave now, not when the race was in his favor. He was sure Logan felt the same way.

After all his pet name calling, Dorian would be getting his bunny. "I thought you'd like that," Logan murmured, giving a shy smile. He wanted to be cute for him, the attention stealing one, not on the mopey envious side of things.

He nodded, blushing, nervous and excited. "This weekend… this weekend! It'll be an excessive shopping adventure." His laughter was more open now, a release of bad energy. "Jeanette, Jeanette, practicing already? I'm Jeanette… I'll start learning to answer to that, too."

He wrapped his arms tight around Dorian and gave him a squeeze. "Mon moitié. Thank you for putting up with me, and all the little steps and precautions I have to take. I would not go through the trouble in the first place if I did not care about being with you. That, at least, I hope is evident." Leaning up a little, he gave the other man a kiss on the nose, then the lips. The two of them, they were going to be okay. They continued to make this work, and Logan was more than happy to do so.

That weekend, Logan headed to the city. Not in his school uniform, clothes on the cuter side, instead. He couldn't prepare for possible body type changes, with what he'd read up on the fancier glamours offered, but he could at least make it seem a little less odd when he switched. Feminine leaning outfit, even if it'd soon be loose in odd places.

He'd managed to put this out of his mind, once the date was set, to focus more on elections and a few sneaky sex sessions with Dorian. Now, though, as he sat at the edge of a cute little fountain in the shopping district of the downtown area, he wanted to do nothing but wiggle and squirm. His emotions weren't settling on a particular thing, it was all a blown up exclamation point.

He made sure to text Dorian checking in several times over, informing and re-informing him about his location and their plans. He was both delighted and a nervous wreck. His boldness as of late was truly surreal, wasn't it? Homosexuality, promiscuity, murder, gender changes! Unheard of, inappropriate, and wonderful.

Dorian was non-stop fireworks during the elections, and it was wearing him down something awful. Even the sex breaks didn't help with his stress anymore. He just wanted to sleep for a thousand years. When all of his stuff on Friday was finished, Dorian collapsed on his couch and passed out. He wanted to sleep all weekend, but he'd made promises.

And that was why he forced himself to wake up Saturday. Body sore and eyebags prominent under his eyes, Dorian got up, made breakfast (if toast and yogurt counted as breakfast), and showered. He usually liked making an impression even to random people in the street, but right then, he barely had energy to talk to Logan. He was leaving the house, though. For Logan.

He dressed up pretty simply, but made a point not to make it hideous. He wore contacts so he could wear his shades, a hat to hide his identity. If he had to make small talk today, god help him, he will choke a bitch. His posture wasn't outstanding then. He was slumped, and walked inconspicuously to not get noticed. It was like he was a completely different person.

Jesus, who allowed the sun to be so bright?

Luckily, his mood seemed to brighten when he saw Logan. He walked up to him and smiled. "Hey, Logan. You ready?"

Logan's expression took five seconds to move from his childish delight and anxiety into unimpressed. If he wasn't familiar with Dorian's scent, he wouldn't have recognized him. "Dorian," he said, voice flat. "I'm ready-- you aren't, though. Jesus Christ." He stood from the fountain and circled around his boyfriend, peering at him, lightly straightening his clothes in certain spots. Eyeing the sunglasses.

He scrubbed his face a little and linked arms with his boyfriend, lightly tugging him away. "I'm taking you back to your place! Can't have this. Shopping is no fun when one person is a zombie. Either your place or my house, because my bed is comfortable and it smells nice and it's warm there all the time. I'll make my family leave you alone, too. Not the Delacroix house, I mean… But you have to pick between those two things!"

Sleeping sounded nice... but this was, of course, absurd! Dorian was a grown adult. He didn't need his baby boyfriend to, well, baby him. He groaned as he was dragged away, childishly. "Logan, I'm fine. I just haven't had my coffee yet. Please."

He removed his arm and dusted himself off, humphing. "I got, what, twelve hours of sleep? More sleep seems incredibly unnecessary. Come on, we're shopping. I am ready for shopping."

Logan continued to stare at Dorian. Astounded by his nerve. Baffled. Outraged! He wasn't about to back down so easily, he'd kick up a real fuss if needed. "You know, I don't think you have the energy to go against me on this. And you can't take me shopping without consent, either!"

"Wh--" he made a little huffy sound when the other man made a show of brushing himself off. "Hey! I did not get you dusty! Please. You were more ruffled before I touched you, mister." The unicorn puffed out a cheek.

"It's not unnecessary. It is the opposite of unnecessary. You look like you could be knocked over with the slightest breeze. Come on. We aren't doing this right now, change of plans and schedule. You didn't give me any input here, so we're going to the Grahams. You're going to sleep in my bed, and then get fed food that isn't snacky garbage, and maybe take some medicine."

Logan went closer to the road so he could hail a taxi to take them to the nearest bus stop, then to the countryside from there. This was not optional, in his humble opinion.
