He thought about her question, thought about it hard, in truth he wanted to find something good, something that could be a little point of light, but there was nothing, his whole life was just stealing to survive, hoping he'd done enough to avoid Garret's wrath. A look of sadness overtook his face, it seemed so wrong to him, not being able to remember anything good about his home. "I...I can't. I wish I could."

He looked down at the floor for a sec, but then looked to her smiling again, "but hey, that's ok, I'm here with you, I can make good memories now," he pushed his sadness aside and enjoyed the moment, enjoyed being here, his arms around Lila.

"I know what you mean," he chuckled a bit, "I came here and suddenly all those fair tale you hear about are true." He remembered how shocking it had been, "I mean, I had the Shadow by then, so I knew some supernatural stuff was here, then I came here and found it was all real."

He considered what to ask her, "what do you like to do during your free time?" he smirked a bit, "I mean, besides besides hanging out with your goofy boyfriend." He chuckled again, "sorry that awful, what kind of movies do you like? Thought we could go see a movie together."

Of course James couldn't answer her question. He wasn't supposed to. But as he said it, she realised that there must have been something keeping him going for all those years. "Surely there must've been something," she continued. "A friend, maybe?" Realising that topic of conversation probably wasn't what he wanted to talk about, Lila's face fell in guilt. "...sorry," she apologised quietly.

She smiled back at him and said, "Okay," happily and turned her head to kiss him. He had been through so much more than her, yet they ended up in the same place. She was so grateful that they ended up together. "I can help with that."

"It's just surreal," she said. "I mean, I knew about Angels and Vampires from when I was really young, but there are dozens more species here." She looked around the cabin, which was really quite normal compared to the rest of Manta Carlos. "It's a whole new world."

But at James' mention of the Shadow, Lila stiffened. Was it there with them like a third-wheel on their date? She hadn't even registered that it was there before. Was it talking to James? Did it feel every time they kissed? The thought worried her for a moment. Thinking it rude to ask James about it, something he couldn't change, Lila kept it to herself, wondering if he noticed anything was wrong.

Thinking about the questions, Lila answered, "During my free time... Well I do enjoy spending time with my - goofy boyfriend." She laughed, but continued, "But otherwise I like hanging out with friends, going to parties, but you already know that." She thought of something she liked to do that he didn't know about. "Oh! I really like music. I used to sing in a band at my old school." It wasn't necessarily something she hid from people, but at the same time there weren't really many opportunities to bring it up in conversation.

"And movies... Anything exciting and unpredictable, I guess." She had watched a variety of movies, from horror to romcom, but the only constant of her enjoying them was her inability to guess the ending. "We're going to a movie together?" She was happy about this. Another date was already being suggested. "In that case, I really don't mind." As long as she was with James, she was perfectly happy.

"So what about you? Any hobbies I don't know about?"

He smiled as she kissed him, he was happy, happy that she understood how hard it was form him to think about his past. He wantes to be more open with his issues, especially with her, "thank you, its hard, but you've helped me so much."

"Yea," he said in agreement, "this island is amazing, so much here, so many different kinds if people." He smiled brightly at her, "I even found an amazingly beautiful angel."

He listened as she listed her hobbies, the things she liked to do. He grinned, "oh you can sing?" he leaned in and kissed her cheek, "I'd love to hear you sing."

"Well, when I arrived I got really int reading," it had actually been a big surprise to him, "especially horror," he chuckled, "ironic huh?" people could take his own situation with the Shadow and easily turn it to a horror story.

"I'm thinking of getting into sports, maybe joining the club," James was naturally athletic, and though he kept it mostly a secret, he trained a lot, more to keep himself healthy, but he could help but wonder if Lila noticed.
