A amused smile tried to force its way onto Rae's face but she kept it restrained. "You're in trouble if you're seeing double." Rae again took her hand off the sword and leaned up against a nearby tree.
"Er..yeah... so.. are you lost out here? Are you a student of the academy? It isn't very common to see people out here alone.. it can be dangerous.. especially at night.." He looked around at the darkening terrain and felt slightly uncomfortable. He had never been out here in the dark before. It did make him feel safer that he wasn't the only one out here, though.
Rae's eyebrows peaked up. Was he admitting he himself was lost? Or scared because it was dangerous? "No, yes, and I'm not afraid of anything that may or may not be lurking out in the shadows ready to strike when I'm not ready. Now answer you own questions, please."
"Eheheh.." he looked a little embarrassed. "Yeah, I'm from the academy... and am a little lost. You see I ran into a bit of trouble back in the forest and sort of.. wound up here. Heh.."
Rae took pity on him and didn't laugh. She decided to tell the truth also, since he was being so honest. "Well, I'm not really lost; I know I'm on the mountain. But I'm not entirely positive where I'm at. I wondered away from the tour group I was with and a while later endedup in that-" she pointed to the cave twenty feet away "-cave."
"I see.." He was pretty sure she wasn't anyone dangerous, now. Corona never had much suspicion that she was, but he couldn't get Paul to really believe him. Of course, Corona was always quite trusting of people. "Well, we probably shouldn't loiter.. it's getting dark and we really should find a way back.
Rae nodded. I guess that means he's planning on traveling with me...or something. She looked down at her hand and holding her palm up, created a small bolt of purple light for them. "Then let's go."
Rae shrugged. She pointed down the mountain. "That or either we could just walk down the mountain and figure our way from there," she suggested.
"I guess so. Just be on guard for like.. thieves and junk." He started to walk down the path, having a conversation with Corona about what sort of things could come out at night. He admittedly was a bit afraid, but not nearly as afraid as he would have been if he was in this situation just a week ago.
