He just nodded, feeling slightly stupid. Lux followed Gryph down the flights of stairs until they arrived at the door in which he was told would be the place he would be staying. Back home, they had no need to lock out others from their homes - they were quite a peaceful race, believing in order and respect as a priority.

Opening the door, Lux took his first look at the apartment. There was something so strange yet so familiar and cozy about it. It was full of appliances and furniture that he had no clue were used for, but it felt like a place he could get used to quite easily.

Leora changed back into her normal form and darted around the room, under furniture, behind objects. Lux smiled, "It's a very nice home you have here. Leora seems to like it." She knocked over a couple of things in the excitement so Lux walked over and returned them to their original position.

Gryphon found himself giggling again as Leora whizzed around. Her excitement (or at least, hunger to explore) was undeniably adorable. "It does look that way, huh?" He said, smiling. Gryph grimaced as some of his ornaments and such fell to the ground, but he didn't mind, walking over as well to retrieve one of the fallen items, "I'm a klutz, I don't think there's too much in here that could be broken. Except maybe the crockery."

After he said this, Gryphon's mind paused in thought as he automatically replaced the thingy he was holding. "...that just made me wonder, what do you eat?" He paused again, turning to look (up) at Lux, "Do you eat?" How would Gryph know?

It was only then that about a million things he hadn't considered before came to mind. Where was Lux from? Why did he glow? Did he need sleep, or did he get energy in some other way? Did he have any special kind of needs? Gryphon was boggled for a moment, his mind racing as he wondered about all these things.

((Here's a little idea of what his place looks like :P))

"No, you don't have to worry about that. I don't eat, sleep or even breathe. Neither does Leora," he explained. They taught about basic life processes of most other species where he was from. He always wondered how they knew if travelling was forbidden. Did his race use to be travellers and explorers? He wasn't sure and was never provided with an answer.

"You probably have questions and I'd be happy to answer any. Like I said, I was exiled from my home, a distant star millions of light years away. My race are beings of light, energy, able to use it for our will." he went on explaining about himself as he rested on Gryph's sofa. "So, what about you? I hardly know anything other than your name."

"Oh." That was all Gryph could muster at first. He blinked a bit before breathing out a laugh. "It's just that... well, you learn new things every day." That second part was muttered to himself. Of course he was going to be a little thrown off by the lack of living processes. It wasn't like humans were taught about other species and aliens and such, considering that the rest of the world wasn't in the know.

The backstory took a second to settle too. Gryphon went to fill his kettle to get some tea as they spoke - he would have offered some to Lux but... obvious reasons. He smiled, still in slight shock from all the events and letting them catch up with him, "Wow, uh... I'm going to sound so simple in comparison." He left the kettle to heat up and turned back to Lux, "I'm... human. I live here. I am twenty-three and I have wings." Said wings shuffled behind him as he spoke, "I didn't always live on this island, but then again, I didn't always have wings." He hesitated again before continuing, "Most humans look like me, but without the wings. And most humans are on the rest of the planet. These are the Manta Carlos islands, though, and here... it's like, um, uh... a--a melting pot of species. There's a few humans, but there's also aliens, like... like, uh, you, and other creatures, you know... elves, witches, fairies, magic..." He made a face, "It's a lot."

Gryph let out an awkward huff of a laugh, "Sorry if that's a bit much to take in."

Lux sat politely and listened as Gryph explained about himself, the island and the other inhabitants. He also payed close attetion to what he was doing with an unknown appliance. The information was a lot to take in but he just seemed fascinated with what Gryph was doing.

"No, no, it's fine. I obviously have a lot to learn," he said whilst pulling a face. Leora hovered around, slower than before, hiding in lamp shades. He didn't really have many questions for now, thinking that too much at once would be overwhelming. It was probably best he eased into life on the island instead of facing it all head on.

Gryphon told himself to calm down, taking in a deep breath and letting it out again. He knew he was winding himself up too much, which was why he had rambled in the first place - he was overwhelmed. He would be fine, he was just being a bit delicate. He smiled, "Nothing wrong with being new, though." He said as a means of comfort for Lux, if it would be comforting at all.

Shortly after, the kettle boiled, so Gryphon retrieved a mug and a herbal teabag, placing the latter inside the former before pouring in some of the boiled water. He stirred it around a bit with a teaspoon before putting the spoon down and just dunking the bag by its string to get it to stew well. As he did this, he looked at Lux again, eyes slightly wide, "Uh... do you want some?" He wasn't exactly sure if Lux would be interested in tea after coming to such a different landscape, but it was better to offer it.

After the device stopped making a noise, Gryph placed something into a mug and poured liquid from the appliance into it. Lux wasn't too sure what he was doing, but he kept a close eye on it. "Erm... sure." It was better to try it to understand than to just observe - that was his reasoning.

"What exactly is it?" He got the impression that he was going to be asking that question a lot, considering he know almost nothing about the contents of that room alone. Leora swooped down to the ground, here form changing once again to the shape of a cat. Lux wasn't too sure where she had seen this creature to know it's form and behaivour, but he presumed it was when they were flying over the town. She rubbed her head against his leg and then jumped onto his lap.

At Lux's agreement, Gryph retrieved another cup and another teabag of the same flavour as his own, following the same routine he had with his own drink before handing it over, offering it handle first. "Careful, it's hot." He warned, picking up his own tea and taking a sip.

"Oh." Something else Lux didn't know about. They literally were worlds apart when it came to most things on Earth. "It's tea. A hot drink." He sipped his own again and decided it needed a little honey, which he added now. It was a good thing he had put his mug down, as he turned to say something else to Lux and saw the glowing cat. He looked between Lux and Leora's form with wide, concerned eyes, "U-u-uh..." He stuttered, edging back against the cabinet he was in front of, sticking to it solidly. "Why is she a c-cat?" He said, voice wavering slightly. It was an instinct he hated. He had tried to get over his fear of cats before but it simply wouldn't go away. Gryphon took a deep breath and turned to his mug of tea again swiftly, stirring it a little and taking another shaky sip. "...I'm scared of cats." He admitted, facing the wall, fingers nervously tapping on the side of his mug, not giving a reason why.

Lux took the mug off of Gryph, saying, "thank you." After looking down at the drink and observing Gryphon's actions, he slurped it all down and placed it down. The heat of the drink didn't affect him, so he drank it as though it was a chilled soft drink.

Lux turned to Gryph as he jumped, unsure of what had spooked him. Realising he was talking about Leora, he looked down at the orange, translucent cat. "Oh, she must have seen one on the way here." He rubbed her back as she shot into the air as an eagle, circling the room, before returning to her normal form, hovering next to Gryph and rubbing against his arm to apologise.
