Lochlann still had no idea what she was going on about. March virus? He hadn’t been keeping up with the news. And pissed off at him? For what? Lochlann was still confused and a little bitter, but he wasn’t a complete dick. When she requested his help, that was something he could do.

He was surprisingly strong. People tended to forget that about him, as he looked mortal and bled easily, but Lochlann had a well muscled body from swimming and running. He grabbed Kaya by the hips and lifted her up and over his shoulder. He was careful to keep her on his right shoulder, not wanting to graze her against his injured chest.

He took her a few steps and then, without a moment’s hesitation, Lochlann stepped inside the portal. It was only after they were inside that he asked, “Are you sick enough that I’m going to live, or are you planning on killing me?”
He didn’t exactly blame her for wanting to kill him, not if Emily told her what he was. He just really, really didn’t want to die. He also really didn’t want his nose to keep bleeding, but Lochlann knew he couldn’t get what he wanted.

It was only once Lochlann had taken her into her room that she felt like she could talk again. The pain of the increasing sun burn had ended, but her skin was still a heated metal red. "I didn't want to... fucking kill you. I punched you for..." Before she could finish she began a small coughing fit which passed after a moment. "... leaving Emily the way you... did. By Lucy's tears this hurts." Kaya swallowed trying to smooth out her throat so it didn't hurt so much, it didn't help.

"She said that... you left her because... you didn't want to hurt... her. But... don't you think... leaving her like you... did WOULDN'T hurt her?" Every moment of this was agony right now. She really wished she didn't need to talk for Loch to hear her right now. Why did he keep thinking that she wanted to kill him? And thinking back on it, When did he try to kill her?

"Do you need....water...or something?" he asked.

He was not good at treating illnessess. An unbidden memory of Guinevere, feverish and dizzy, soaking in a bath tub and drinking the concoction he'd made her.

Honey, he remembered. Honey and elderberries. They were fairy thing and they were good for soar throats and coughs. But that was with humans. Would it work with demons, too?

He didn't know what to do so he set her down on the edge of the bed.

He looked at her blankly when she reframed why she was mad at him. It was incredulous. Lochlann said, "You're mad at me for leaving her alive?"

Lochlann asked if she wanted water, trying to swallow Kaya only nodded fervently. "please... there is a cup... next to the sink...bathroom." She then proceeded to descend into a coughing fit. Though it was only once she was on the bed that she could talk again.

"You fucking.... idiot. I'm pissed... because the WAY you left her." She swallowed again, she really was begining to pray that Lochlann would be getting her that water now. "You.... remember the... mess I was... in... after Henry? You just pulled THAT... on Emily." Kaya laid down on her side on the bed. She hated being sick now, this was the first and hopefully the last time.

"She came to... me... almost right after... Do you know just how angry this makes... me?" Even when everthing went down, Kaya wasn't as pissed as she was now at Henry. But Lochlann was being her surrogate Henry for what he did to Emily.

He remembered where the bathroom was for his last minute and nodded, making his way there. His hearing was average, maybe a little bit better thanks to his heritage, so he was able to her most of what she said through the coughing fit. It's not like he went super far.

He returned with the cup of water and sat down next to Kaya.

"You uh...should probably drinking this sitting up," he murmured, and he reached down to help lift her into a sitting position.

He wanted to feel something about her words but he just felt... numb. He felt like his entire life was a blanket that was unraveling and Kaya was asking him why he was cutting the strings. Lochlann didn't know how to sew. It was a terrible metaphor and he didn't let it leave his head, which was a relief.

"How else was I supposed to leave her, Kaya?" he asked. His voice was a little cold, because he was afraid if he did anything else the pain would break through.

"I don't think the situations are the same," he said. Henry seemed like such a long time ago. He'd actually almost forgotten about it, but he didn't forget that first day with Kaya. It had been choatic but it brought her into his life and he liked that.

"I don't think Henry ever deserved you," he confessed. He didn't think Emily deserved him, either. "You're better than him."

He was quiet for a moment when he finally said it. "And Emily deserves much better. She deserves a chance to be happy, and I would have taken that from her. This is just a setback."
