Quite honestly, Tucker was surprised when she answered his query about her ability; it wasn't because he was shocked about what it was or anything. It was more of the fact that there had never been a better timing for Adelene to suddenly show up. It was only recently he was brushing up on weapon duplication again. How long had it been since he'd made full duplicates? Centuries probably. The surprise never showed on his face, rather, it was a satisfied smile.

"Interesting.. I've met a few people with similar abilities back then. Most of them were a bit apprehensive but I can understand why." He wasn't going to lie; he could tell how hesitant Adelene was about her own ability. It was practivaly like being a human weapon.

Tucker could clearly see how Adelene was completely enchanted by the blade that it had him chuckle a bit. There wasn't a lot of people who were this drawn to weapons in that kind of way. "It's a used sword so there are damages here and there, especially on the blade," he said. For Tucker, it was easy to repair the damages and bring it back to its pristine state, but what good was a brand new sword when the authentic blades were often worn out or broken in half?

Adelene turned to him with pleading eyes as she asked. Tucker wasn't going to even deny her request in the first place; after all, she seemed capable of holding a weapon. "I don't see why not." He twisted the hilt around his hand so when he laid the blade on the other, the sharpened edge was facing him. He was gently holding the blade with both hands as he turned to face Adelene.

That almost made Adelene shiver, almost. Mr. Watanabe really did look like a real samurai in modern times, especially when there was this natural grace and elegance with how he held the sword. The way he was handing it to Adelene had that grace.

The girl gave the blade another look, before slowly reaching up to receive it the same way Mr. Watanabe was giving it to her: with both hands, palms up. "Thank you, sir," she smiled, grinned, as she moved her hands so she can hold the katana on the hilt with both. She turned away to keep the sword at a safe distance from the two of them, and while she seemed like she was bearing the weight easily, something about her stance showed that she's never handled a katana before. She didn't know how.

"Mr. Watanabe, this is lovely." Her eyes were fixed on the blade. She looked like she was scanning it in a detailed manner, and her hands were squeezing on the handle every now and then. She was saying it and shaking it gently, as if to determine its weight.

And then she frowned. She suddenly looked confused.

"I can't copy it."

When Adelene took hold of the weapon, Tucker took a step back, near the same time as the girl did. There was no harm in trying to keep safe but he could tell, despite the fact that she received the blade correctly, the way she'd held the blade was unsure. It became obvious in her stance that she hasn't learned how to hold longer swords. That could easily be arranged if she really wanted to learn how to really handle blades, he thought.

"Forging blades in Japan is considered an artwork," he justified. He'd studied forging before and it was demanding for anyone who wasn't up to the task. He quietly observed Adelene as she inspected the blade in awe, scrutinizing every detail that it held. He caught her expression change and simply by reflex, Tucker smiled, as if he could already tell what was wrong.

"They're as real as they are visible to your eyes," he repeated his earlier response, "But their authenticity is a different thing," he corrected, unsheathing the other blade--the one that had been broken from earlier, holding it to his side away from Adelene. "These aren't the actual katanas. I made these with a duplication spell--we wouldn't want to recklessly lose the actual relic, would we? That's likely the reason why you can't copy it."

"Oh."

Addy looked at the broken sword, and then again at the one she was holding. They were duplicates, made by magic. Which meant the ingredients of the swords weren't as real as she needed them to be. As much as she knew, she could only copy weapons made manually with real ingredients, and she's never ventured into the magical side of weapons, so maybe she just didn't know how to do it yet.

It didn't matter, however, whether she could do it in the future or not. Because at present, she held a gorgeous blade and there was nothing she could do to capture it.

"It would be nice to see the original," she muttered. Adelene sounded disappointed, but she wasn't trying to complain. She was just talking to herself, really. After all, just being able to have a feel on the weapon was already an opportunity she was thankful for. She lowered the blade, and offered it back the way the instructor gave it to her a moment ago.

"You're keeping the real katana somewhere safe then, Mr. Watanabe?" she asked, just out of curiosity. She smiled, her eyes shining with interest. "How many real ones do you have?"
